Am 63 and have MCI - getting tested for ALZ

I am a 63 yo Psychotherapist getting tested for possible ALZ. I have been thru 2 different blood draws, a brain MRI, and a recent amyvid PET scan. The PET scan once again showed things that suggest ALZ. I have not seen the Neurologist yet to go over the results. I single, no kids and am attempting to figure out where I can find local resources I can latch onto.

    call and talk to your local Alz chapter and find out where they have support groups close to you that you can attend. Also, look for Universities in your area that do Alzheimers research or even clinical trials. They often have support groups affiliated with them also. That’s what we have done and I was diagnosed with MCI 12 yrs ago which has now been diagnosed as Vascular dementia with Alz. Get into some clinical trials and take advantage of the testing and information they have also.

    I agree with Ella, the Alz Assoc is a great great resource. If you are interested in programs, I'd also contact you local Area on Aging, in my area it's called Office on Aging or the Onondaga County Office for Aging. The names are confusing, but just search for office on aging near me, and I bet you'll find it. (I can't take the BOLD type off) Good luck.
