Nighttime incontinence leaks
my stage 5-6 DW is incontinent at night about 1/2 the time. Real problem is the Always Discreet pullups don’t hold the flow. The pj’s, and sheets are soaked but the save is the underpads that keep it off the mattress. I don’t have her drink anything after 5pm. Any ideas or a better brand? Thank you all for this forum.

I used Tena with my husband. They’re a little more, but worth it. Then as he further progressed, we switched to a Purewick external catheter at night. It fixed everything.

Here is a link to a previous discussion on incontinence products. Hope it helps.

There are many good brands. I actually don't like Northshore (a lot of people do). I like brands that provide breathability as it is important for the skin. Try a few different ones until you find the fit that works for you (Tena, Prevail, Attends, Seni, etc.) If you're not, please make sure you are using a barrier.
Please also remember, no brief is going to hold everything overnight. They all have limits. There's a lot of output at night. You'll have to come up with a system of when to change her. Depending on when she goes to sleep, you may have to change her one more time late at night or early morning to keep her skin healthy and fluid contained.

You could try using booster pads, also called overnight pads. These fit into the briefs with light adhesive to hold in place. Extra protections, essentially and they can be removed if wet and replaced if the brief is still dry.

These other brands can be found at a medical supply stores (probably more expensive) or you can order them on line from the site. There are also a lot of options on Amazon. I bought the Tena overnight super for my mom. You might also try waking her up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.

I’m afraid the catheter might become disconnected as she moves ir changes position.

That’s a very legitimate concern Our only experience is with the male catheterHere’s the phone number if you want to call and ask about the female catheter.

Bowerbird
Are you saying use a pad inside a Depends type all in one? I had not considered that. Might give it go. Some mornings DW laying down is dry. Then we sit up to get out of bed and everything gets wet like sitting on a wet sponge.😑Close save but no cigar!

Get a 6 sided waterproof mattress cover ASAP!!!!!

I'm not Bowerbird, but I'm pretty sure the product being referred to is different than a pad that doesn't allow fluid to go through it. It's a booster pad that allows fluid to flow through to the brief to be absorbed. Here's a link:

#dacre45, yes put it inside the briefs. There is a back and a front and it is marked (or the back is marked). I would try the strongest/ thickest you can find, for females. There are many brands and they can be found on Amazon or on websites that sell medical supplies.

You are so welcome. It is gratifying to be able to suggest things we've learned along the way. One day soon you'll be able to pass this stuff on too.
