When it was time for me to start helping my DW with taking her medications, after reading all the stories of others having difficulty with their LO taking medications, I was so happy that she took her meds without any argument. She always took a big drink and I assumed that down her throat went the meds. I was cleaning out a kitchen cabinet and to my surprise, behind an item that we rarely used, was almost 3 dozen tightly wrapped paper towel sheets containing assorted meds that apparently my DW did not swallow. Who knows where I might find more. Lesson learned to check the cheeks and under tongue every time. Our lO’s can be so sneaky. 😳

Ugh. I had a cat (except for the paper towels— cats don't have opposable thumbs) that did that when DH pilled him.

Instead of you becoming the pill-police and subjecting DW to an inspection that could potentially agitate her, I'd ask the pharmacist about crushing and mixing it into her food. It could go in the jelly on her toast in the morning, the apple sauce that you give at lunch or an ice cream treat.

Very sneaky! Good that you did find them. I agree with @harshedbuzz. Find a way to be sneakier than your wife is 😊 and put them into food somehow if you can. (But make sure it’s ok to crush them, sometimes you need to get a different form of the prescription if you’re planning to crush it). The MC had to crush many of the residents pills and put into pudding or mix with chocolate milk before they would take them. It worked most of the time…

You might check in with her MC to see how they are handling medications.

I’ve been checking DH and quite a few times he has a pill or two dissolving on his tongue! He puts pills in his mouth, takes a sip and then swishes everything around like it is mouthwash! I finally talked with pharmacist and was able to crush about half his morning pills and half of his nighttime pills and am putting them in applesauce. Now he finds bits that didn’t crush as fine as the rest and has them on his tongue! Quite the battle! And it is still a process to get him to take the remaining pills, but reduction in number makes it better.
