I'm new to this. I have noticed decline in my memory for probably a year or so but all of a sudden it seems to be amplified…my short-term memory is awful. My mother's side of the family is riddled with dementia…don't know why I thought it wouldn't happen to me but it has and I am struggling. Had a MRI and that showed nothing. So I guess it's just good old-fashioned bad luck. Last time I saw my doctor she gave me Vistaril which I've only used once (can't remember to use it) and I have an appointment with a neurologist in JANUARY!!! Anyone have any suggestions regarding helpful drugs, exercises, etc. I would be very grateful. I look forward to hearing from anyone. Also, I have a wonderful husband who is steps up (he got me on this site).

    I have been diagnosed as of October, 2025; I had dementia symptoms for at least 3 years(that I noticed). You will need a neuroscience neurologist to diagnose Alzheimer’s. They will get information from a blood test to check for a bio marker called TAU. Then if needed, a brain PET Scan to see if there is other identifying pictures of your brain to confirm.

    Schedule an appointment as soon as possible to subside your worry.

    Thank you for your invitation to contact you. I'm terrified, depressed, miserable. I do have an appointment with my primary care physician's assistant this Monday, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Are there any discussiongroups that you have found especially helpful? Thank you in advance for your response.
