DW wont let me help with medication

Newly diagnosed DW with moderate Alz insists she does not need help with her medications so I dont know if she is taking them. She is taking 6 different meds plus 2 types of insulin daily. The insulin is OK but not sure what she is taking otherwise. It triggers anger when I try to help and that is not something I want to happen. I am considering speaking with her Dr to see if we can limit the meds she takes and how necessary they are. These meds have been prescribed before Alz was diagnosed. It is a new issue as she always thanked me for helping keep them organized. The anger triggers her thinking I am someone else tells me I should go home. any thoughts or suggestions?

Definitely talk to the doctor about eliminating some meds. Discuss the co sequences if doing so versus the fact that she has dementia, a terminal disease. So - do you really have to worry about what the medications are supposed to prevent.

Can you get her to use a pill reminder case? At least then you’d be able to see whether today’s meds got taken or not.

My DW was reluctant to take any meds at all so I ended up crushing them and putting them in her food. Luckily there are only 3 a day. 6 sounds like to many for this to work. I would also speak with her PCP to see about reducing the number of meds.
