Shoe issue

My DH has an old pair of shoes he loves and he doesn’t want to wear any others. They are totally worn out especially the backs and inter soles with holes. I bought him a new pair which is identical to the old ones but he refuses to wear them because he says the old ones are more comfortable. The issue is he spends some time everyday trying to patch the old shoes up with duct tape, which won’t stay on. If I thought it were possible to have them fixed at a shoe repair store, I would, but they are cheap shoes to begin with and I don’t think they can be repaired. I don’t know why he has this obsession. He’s driving me nuts.

The old ones are more comfortable. How about letting him fuss with them and suggest " breaking in" the new ones a bit every day.

You might try Shoo Goo….very powerful stuff so please do not let him get his hands on it…lol

My DW is very out of sight out of mind. Could you just start setting them out of sight but available if he is searching for them. Have the new ones out in plain sight and see if he gives them a go until the old ones show up. I know this depends on how easily your DH takes redirection or their mood at the moment. But I would just start making them less and less accessible until one day they just disappeared.

maybe put a little piece of duct tape on the new shoes … say you had the cobbler clean them up….
