My Wedding Anniversary
My 56th wedding anniversary was one I rather forget . Spent all day Saturday watching tv with my DW. Got 1 text and 1 phone call wishing us. Nothing from my 3 beloved kids. Topping it all, for the very first time my DW wetted her diaper… first sign of things to come.
What a bloody life…

Wow! 56 years! That’s amazing. I’m so sorry it was not a good day for you. At first I would get quite depressed on the special days that were not so special anymore, but after a while, I got to the point where I just let them go by without only a passing thought. It really is such a dreadful disease…
Sending a hug and a Happy Anniversary wish. 🫂

56 years of marriage is quite the accomplishment. Congratulations from me and my DW.

It’s possible that your kids know your anniversary was a sad day for you because of your wife’s condition. They might have thought you didn’t want to be reminded.
Another thought is that I never expected my kids to celebrate our anniversary. I’m not even sure our younger son ever knew what date it was on. I only started sending cards for my parent’s anniversary when I was in my 40s and I eventually stopped doing that. We were ever the kind of family that held big parties for it.

We just had our 56th anniversary as well in September. I tried to talk about it several times but it didn’t seem to register with my DH. I booked a reservation at a very nice steak house and told him we were going for our anniversary. We did go and had a very nice dinner with free dessert, wishing us a happy anniversary. To this day he has never acted like it registered with him that it was our anniversary. Before he has always gotten me flowers or something special. I’m not unset though. I know there are worse things that could be happening.

Holy Cow!!!! Congratulations to @bwanasil and @Barbie300 56 years is amazing. I’m so sorry the day wasn’t better. I too had a wedding anniversary in September but only I knew. For the first time I didn’t cry tho, so it doesn’t haunt me like it used to do. Happy Anniversary to both of you 🥳🥂

Our wedding anniversary (50 years) was in September too. A quiet milestone for me. Didn’t register for the guy who often asks me “are you married?” or “do you have any children?” Or who walks around the house looking and searching and informs me “I’m looking for my wife.” I remember many years ago my parents had a gala party for their 50th and my mom was so happy. Oh well …

56 yrs. congratulations. The pain is bad enough when your LO isn't able to acknowledge the anniversary, but it's amplified when your kids won't even send a quick text, recognizing your anniversary. Been down that road many a time. Anyway life moves on. Again congratulations on a amazing accomplishment!!
