Scammer Education Video from YT

Below is a YouTube video on identifying phone scammers. If not allowed please remove. Also I'm pretty sure it is AI generated but it does provide valid information.

I share this because 1. I recently learned a friend who doesn't have dementia lost a total of $1000 in a gift card scam (she fell for 2 calls demanding $500 gift card deposits - figured out it was a scam after the 2nd call and losing $1000) and she is an intelligent, no dementia 72 yo lady and 2. One of our adult children was sentenced and incarcerated in April for a DUI conviction for 365 days and my husband w cognitive issues received a phone call on his cell at 10p on son's first night in jail stating "I am Officer First name Last name" with County Jail and "Son's name" has been released and needs to be picked up. Its not going to cost anything. He just needs to be picked up." I was next to Hubby and could hear the conversation. I immediately said hang up, its a scam and hubby kept trying to talk to the scammer to get more information on this supposed release after less than 12 hours in jail on a judge ordered conviction. Grrr... it took me a few more tries of "Hang up, its a scam. Put it on speaker, its a scam...hang up, its a scam!" before Hubby put it on speaker and I managed to get him to hang up.

The more we know, hopefully, the less these folks will be able to steal from unsuspecting, vulnerable, innocent people.
