Looking for a "smart" pillbox. Also my experience with smart stove knobs.
Hello fellow caregivers. I'm wondering if anyone has used a smart pillbox for their PWD or an elderly person. Looking for a pill box or dispenser that will sense if it's been picked up or opened or similar, and alert a caregiver if it has not. A reminder would also be nice if it beeped or something. That seems to exist with these huge 28 day boxes. Wondering if the tech itself is effective, or if anyone knows of a 7 day one. Dad will definitely take them once he remembers to pick up the pillbox. And it's only an issue with evening pills so only needs to hold one dose for the day.
Also, as an FYI I installed wifi smart stove knobs on his stove because he was occasionally leaving it on and burning pans. Highly recommend for PWD who are still using the kitchen. My phone app tells me every time he turns it on and off. But I don't need to be paying attention to that because if he leaves it unattended (for the time I chose, which was 10 minutes) it first beeps at him giving him a chance to come deal with it, then it will text me repeatedly until either it detects movement in front of the stove or he turns the burner off. If I were to be getting the texts repeatedly I could call him, go over, call his neighbor to check etc. So far the beeping at him has been enough, no incidents of leaving it on. I can also see at any time how long it's been since movement was detected in the kitchen so I know when he is up for the day. Thinking about getting similar motion sensors for other areas of the house.
This isn't my first dementia rodeo and I'm totally aware dad isn't safe to live alone and dementia isn't contained to forgetting one thing etc. That's usually me lecturing about that on here :-) Just in a phase of getting by while we work on making other things fall into place and trying to improve our odds on the most severe safety risks in the meantime.

Hi MN Chickadee - I see a few on Amazon that are 1-week.
Punch it in as 'smart pill dispensers'.
Sorry you are dealing with all this again.

I'm sorry you have all this on your plate again.
Have you looked at Hero? It's a rented device/service with compliance reporting. Not cheap— month-to-month while you line up the next level of care would be $69/month. And I'm not sure you're notified in real time. There is no replacement for human supervision. A cheaper timed dispenser and Facetime pill routine might be safest. Getting pills out doesn't mean they were actually taken as directed.
