Instructions: Create or Join a Group

Members have the option to create and participate in public, private or secret groups around a shared interest. Follow these instructions to create a group:


  1. Make sure you are logged into ALZConnected at alz.org/alzconnected
  2. Click the “Groups” hyperlink from the purple menu bar
  3. To create a new group, select the orange button which reads “New Group”
  4. Enter a group name and description
  5. You may also choose to add an image for the group icon and banner

When selecting the group type you can choose from:

  • Public: group will be visible to all members and anyone can join. To join a public group, select the orange “Join” button next to the group title.
  • Private: group will be visible to all members, but they must ask to join or be invited. To join a private group, select the orange “Join” button and add content for your approval. The group administrator will receive your request as an email and either approve or reject your request.
  • Secret groups are only visible to member of that group. You must be a member of the group to invite others to join. To join a secret group, you must be invited directly by the group administrator.
