New to the group, any advice helps!
My mom got diagnosed in September of this year with Alzheimer's. Right now, it is mild where she needs things explained to her a few times or gets confused about dates. She still has her memory and wits about her and luckily her and my father retired earlier this year so he's taking care of her. She can still function on…

eating too much
DH in ES ALZ, has lately started eating everything put in front of him. Six months ago, if I served him a large steak, he would eat his fill then save the rest of it. Lately, he eats the whole thing in addition to sides. Yesterday, I made chicken salad, enough for 3-4 lunches. He ate the whole thing for lunch, in addition…

memory loss
DH, diagnosed ES ALZ in June has been losing words for some time now, and that seems to be accelerating. This week he lost memory of two of his life events, one the wedding of our 2nd daughter some years ago. Yesterday, he asked me what I was listening to (bible in a year with Fr. Mike). His comment: "that sounds…

Does occupational therapy help
DH in early to middle stage ALZ. There is another neurologist nearby that offers occupational therapy for dementia as part of their treatment. It is a hassle to change doctors, but if having DH do some kind of therapy that would slow the progression I would make the effort. At home, he plays Sudoku for several hours a day…

Is this sundowning
My Dh has been increasingly waking up after a couple hours sleep getting dressed and going outside. He doesn't go anywhere just thinks it's really early in the morning. Last night I got to him before he went out. Should I think about getting a alarm or lock? To be honest I don't know what I'm suppose to be doing. Don't…

FIRST TIME PARTICIPANT: My AAIC code did not work.
All last week I tried to log into ALZ.org online to view sessions, but the staff wasn’t answering emails during the conference and is now in vacation until the 12th of August. Can anyone explain to me how to use the code I was provided to log in online? I learned today from a YouTube presentation that the videos only…

toilet mishaps
My DH has beenjust been diagnosed with early Alz but now occasionally misses the toilet at night, which he has never done before. I am less concerned about the clean up aspect of this than I am of the fear that this is a sign of progression. I welcome any and all thoughts about this.

Resistant to testing and willing to see a Neurologist
My DW had some serious medial issues in 2019-2022 timeframe. At the time, we thought it was related to multiple UTIs and Duloxitine that had be prescribed for her. She got lost driving a couple of times, forgot what day it was, and peridocially who I was. We saw a doctor who started treating her UTIs and a Neurologist who…

A Group for My Husband to Feel Comfortable In...
Are there groups for patients with Alzheimers and if so are those groups aligned with the different stages of the disease? I ask because I think my husband would benefit from being a part of a group where he can identify with others and share experiences and learn. But, what I hesitate to do is have him in a group where…
