Stages of Alzheimer's

I have seen on several posts people saying that the person they are caring for has stage 1, 2, ...7. I have only before known of early, middle and late stages. What are these numeric stages?

The link below will describe the 7 functional stages of Alzheimer’s. One cautions is my understanding is that the 7 stages are really only pertinent to a person with Alzheimer’s but not necessarily accurate for other forms of dementia.

Here's a link to a post from @ButterflyWings that shares some really helpful documents. One thing I've seen others say is that the most advanced behaviors indicate the stage. Honestly not sure how I feel about that. My DH has all of the 5 behaviors plus a toe into 6 behaviors and I think of him as 5.

My DH (age 67) was diagnosed with moderate dementia last year - he scored 13/30 on the MoCA. I've been trying to equate that with a stage and its really confusing. He does still do a lot on his own with some encouragement (showering, shaving, dressing, eating meals etc.) but also comes up with statements like, "Who was the woman on the couch earlier" (no one was here!) or asks if I saw the horse outside (we live in a suburb with no farms/horses) . He doesn't use any tech any more, including the phone, is not aware of the date and totally denies that there is anything wrong with him. So -- he seems like he is Stage 4 for some things and Stage 5 for others. Is that often the case? I don't know if knowing the stage will help, but since it is so hard to see a neuro in my area (Seattle) due to extraordinarily long waits, I guess I just want to know so I can be more helpful to him.
