CAREGIVERS WHO REALLY CARE tend to be the best people among us, and they never regret their sacrifice of love and care. Thank you!

I think it is helpful to assume that all caregivers really care. Some may be struggling to balance many demands on them, some may be ill themselves, some may be feeling burned out on the day you encounter them. Some are even extending themselves to care for someone who did not take good care of them earlier in the relationship. But still, they are providing care, whether on their own at home or with the help of other care providers in the home or a facility. I so appreciate everyone who has helped me care for my mom, including the supportive folks on this forum who really understand the dementia caregiver experience. You rock!

psg712, Thanks. I just remember how very hard it was caregiving when I did it several years ago. One sweet lady at the church I attended made me feel special for doing the work by saying I was being a good example. I will always remember her words. Caregivers give up so much of themselves, so we all need to encourage each other as much as possible. Thanks again.
