My DW is still her favorite person, but all responsibilities are now mine.

    14 years old last Christmas.

"BTW she flunked graduation." 😁 We once had a German Shepherd who was kicked out of doggie kindergarten.

She is adorable. She may have flunked puppy class but I bet she more than made up for it with love.

Best thing I ever did was get a dog when DH was stage 5. We had lost our older dog a few months prior. We got a 6 week old golden retriever. I trained her to "find (husband's name)." She'd run to him and he'd pet her. They were inseparable. Then came the bad times. We live in the country and DH would get mad and run away from me. The dog almost always went with him, but would come to me when I called her. I'd call, she'd come, I'd tell her "find DH" and together we'd figure out where he was.

It wasn't always easy. DH would feed the dog whatever he was eating. It was a habit, and when he moved into MC, he'd drop some of his food on the ground for the dog who was no longer there. Now, our dog keeps me company and is one of the best dogs we ever had. She goes with me to visit DH. DH is far past knowing his dog, and the dog isn't really interested in DH, but she loves to go around visiting all the residents who will pet her.

I love the pet pictures! And Dunno, you have double the love in the cutest bundles. We got our Rosie when my husband was in the early stages and is the best investment we ever made. He adores her. She keeps both of us going.

If there're no pets in the house, you know the pee on the carpet is from your LO.

My MIL used to blame the AL dog for the poop on her floor.

I remember reading where someone said everyone thinks they have the best dog in the world. And they're all right. Here's to the doggies. 🙂

And then there's the other side of the coin. A small price to pay for love.

I just stumbled on a website I was completely unaware of (alzstore.com). They have a collection of robotic pets that may be a good solution where you want a pet without the difficulties that caring for one entails:

The battery-powered pets sleep, snore, and breathe. I'd go for the Perfect Petzzz Cocker Spaniel myself. They look adorable.

The robotic pets have been an excellent solution for many. Thanks for bringing it up.
