YAY!!! Win! Even if she forgets about the change periodically and has to regroup (dementia after all), this initial reaction shows it was the right move and she got some comfort and joy out of it already!

So glad to hear she likes her new room.

I didn't get any calls overnight, which was good- when i got there today she was a bit lost, one of the aides had had to redirect her to her new space, and she was confused about where she was and how i knew she was there. A bit more anxious than usual, but she settled down through the afternoon. Delighted when she realized that she is now right on the hall where the cat hangs out and the pretty greenhouse room where she loves to putter. So it feels like we're still on the right track. Fingers crossed that it continues.

M1, I’m glad to hear your move went well. I have also requested a room change. In our case, DW is now in a hospital bed from the queen size bed she originally had and the room just seems so empty. I requested a move to a smaller room but I have to wait for one to become available.

Hope one opens up quickly Joe. Ironically, they told me that there will be a slightly lower charge for this new room- i think because the view out the window is not as pretty! Well worth the change for us though and a little added bonus. I'll take location over view any time!!!

It’s so good to hear that the move is working out. It was a big decision for you. Nothing is logical with emotions and this disease. But it sounds like this is going to be good for her, which will be a relief for you.

That's great new M1. Hope she's happier in here new room. Kitty is an extra plus xo

Yes, it continues to seem to be working out. She has been a little more discombobulated, but not much really. Kitty was very much in evidence today and she was thrilled. Nice to have one's instincts validated. Tomorrow will be the real test because I won't be there…so we'll see what happens when i return on Tuesday.

YEA!!!

just an update, it’s been two weeks today since we moved, and today-for the first time ever-she was sitting outside in the courtyard with another resident when I got there. She was very happy to see me, and we proceeded to have a great afternoon. She had no idea where she is or why she’s there, but let me leave without protest.
I think this move was indeed the right thing to do. It will take more time to know for sure, but it still all feels pretty positive. During the last two weeks there has been a little uptick in the wanting to leave with me/how long do I have to there questions, but that seems to have dissipated. I don’t think she remembers the other room at all because we no longer go to that part of the building.

great update!!!!

M1, Its great to hear that your partner and you both have been impacted positively by the move. Its nice to have some positives along with the many niggling details to be dealt with along the path.

This has to make you feel better about the decision you made. So glad your DW is feeling a bit more settled where she is.

I am glad to hear that things went well with the room relocation. Hopefully the new situation will continue to help your LO.

What a sigh of relief it must be! I hope it continues!
My DW doesn't know where her room is and doesn't know she even has a room.
