Highly Recommend Citicoline Supplement

Hi, All, My partner was diagnosed with MCI on 21018 and the diagnosis has moved now to Alzheimer's since it would not be safe for him to live by himself for an extended period of time. About a two years ago, he revisited a naturopath who recommended Citicoline to support focus and battle brain fog. We researched it ourselves and found a number of valid studies for dementia patients and no contraindication with his other meds.

So we gave it a shot after discussing with his neurologist who was not very hopeful but thought it wouldn't hurt. Well, I have to say it is a total winner! No lasting effects, but we know it is working because when he doesn't take it, it is very noticeable. So much so that I always make sure we have enough on hand and never run out. He takes it in the morning and also at 4 pm. Wanted to share since neurologists are not always interested in looking outside conventional medicine for solutions. Note: Choline is not the same as Citicoline.

Anybody tried anything else like this with positive results? Would love to hear about it.

I am a supplement skeptic. But a friend recommended a multivitamin, he felt it helped his memory. So I started taking it. We're both late 70's and I think it does help a little. I know it has helped me recover somewhat from radiation damage after a cancer treatment. The memory, I think so too but that's much harder to judge and there's always the placebo effect to consider. In any event the pills you recommend I shall try, thank you. It's a very inexpensive experiment.

allendswell, I hadn’t heard of it before, but it sounds interesting. How many mg does he take per dose? What types of positive effects are you noticing?

I might try that, but I'll check with DWs doctor first. She takes a lot of medicine and some supplements interact adversely with prescription meds.

    Thanks for the info, allendswell.

Someone asked me about dosage so thought I'd share with all. Started with 750 mg in morning. Had an immediate effect. That was almost 3 years ago. Then went to 1000 mg in am, and 500 at about 5. Just moved to 1250 in am. Dosage can be up to 2000 daily. Results of taking it at night is not so noticeable due to increased confusion starting around 4 pm each day. He sometimes take a couple mid day if a big social thing.

    I myself take 250 a day since I'm 63 - helps with focus.

allendswell, thank you. I have been reading a lot of positive things about it since you posted. I checked Amazon and Walmart. There are lots of different brands in a wide range of prices and reviews. Would you care to share the brand or brands that you use? You can PM me if you don’t want to post it here.

we buy Healthy Origins Citicoline, naturopath recommended. 250 mg capsules. I get it on Amazon. I hope it helps! My partner ran out about 7 months ago and so was without it in the morning. when he finally found some in a local store he got in the car and took some and said he could feel it kicking in - more clarity, focus, less brain fog. so very noticeable shift! which is why we no longer EVER run out:).
