Urinary Incontinence/retention

My brother lives with me and is struggling with urinary retention. He has Alzheimer's and Down Syndrome. One option that has been mentioned as a solution is a Suprapubic Catheter. Does anyone have experience with this?

I don’t have experience with that, but had good results with adult jumpsuits from Amazon and buck and buck. It is adaptive clothing that that is harder to take off, so they can be worn with incontinence briefs. Only thing is you must have someone who can check every 2 hours if they need changing. Sorry, this sounds very hard. I hope you are finding some good support.

Could he be having prostate problems? What is the cause of the urinary retention?

Some patients can develop overflow incontinence. It's related to incontinence that occurs when there is an obstruction in the urinary tract. A consultation with a urologist is necessary. Urinary obstruction can become a medical emergency.
