A Local Nightmare

This was in the news not far from me. A woman was found wandering near 2 very busy streets in a primarily residential (mostly single-family homes) area. It's interesting that she seems dressed for the weather.

The photo is a close up of her. Possibly in a vehicle? That might be her coat, or it might have been given to her after she was found.

I think she's in a police car; the article is based off the police Facebook post appealing for help. I'm assuming the coat is hers because it fits well but I could be wrong.

Good news. Her family was located this morning.

Oh, my - very glad this one had a good ending.

I've read that you should have something handy with your LO scent on it for just such incidents in case they need to be found. Because just dang! MIL can actually be sneaky!!

This is every family's nightmare who has a loved one with dementia. It is what keeps you up at night as all the "What if's" bounce around your head and you wonder if it is time to place your loved one or if they are still safe at home. I am glad to see this woman's family was located and hope she is now safe.

My adult son was driving down a side street when he spotted an elderly gentleman walking down the sidewalk toward a busy boulevard wearing only his underwear and not seeming connected to the environment.

Son stopped and got a blanket from the car and spoke to the man asking if he was alright. From the response, it was evident the man had a "problem" of some sort. Son tried to encourage the man to sit down in the car and to find out if the man knew where he lived - he did not and kept walking. Man did not want the blanket, nor did he want to sit in son's car so son could track the man's walk backward as much as possible. Son said next step was to contact the sheriff's department to ensure the man would be safe until family was found.

Soon; a frantic woman came running down the street - it was her father who had decided to take a "walk" in his underwear. Father would not ride in the car, so to ensure that all would go safely, son slowly followed behind while the daughter walked her father back home. So glad the man did not get to the very busy boulevard or disappear entirely.
