My DH is gone

My DH left us this morning. His passing was relatively peaceful, but there was a six-day buildup to it, so I feel wiped out. As he was leaving the nursing home to go to the funeral home, all the staff lined up to see him out. It brought on fresh tears.

My DH was a wonderful husband and father, and we will miss him terribly. I could never have made it through this six-year journey without all the support I found on this site. Your collective wisdom helped me solve difficult problems and accept that some problems have no solution. A big thank you to everyone here as I begin stage 8. ❤️

    I’m sorry for your loss. I know how long those six days were. Please rest as best you can. Do what you feel you have to do, but try to rest otherwise.

    I am so very sorry or the loss of your dear husband, clarinetist. You tried so hard to always do the right thing for him. Losing him is heartbreaking, but I hope it brings him peace. And I hope that in good time, that will come to you, too.

    I'm so sorry, clarinetist. And I can imagine that the holiday-season timing isn't helping either.

    But I can say that 1.5 years into Stage 8, I'm finally managing to remember my DH as he was before this awful disease took him from me. I'm hoping that you'll be able to do the same as time passes. And please take good care of yourself in the meantime.
