You're here! You can ask any question by tapping "New Discussion" on the upper right of this page. Then you just type away. When finished, hit the "Post Comment" button just below… Welcome!

Messages are to send to individual group members. I don’t use them a lot because not everyone checks their messages.

You will often see a poster put a member’s username in the discussion subject. That’s in order to get the attention of the member, but anyone who wants can still comment on the discussion.

There are 2 means of communicating here.

This is a post. Posts are public and open to anyone reading the site, logged in or visiting. You start a new post (aka "thread" or "discussion") by logging on to the site and clicking on the orange "New Discussion" button in the upper right side of this page when using a computer. On my smartphone, it's a small orange "+" button on the lower right side of the screen.

Messages are "private" side conversations between 2-6 members. Sometimes messages are used to share local information without broadcasting one's location. I've used it to share things like contact information of a paralegal I know in suburban Boston or the name of the MCF in the Delaware Valley where dad resided. Many members here keep their profiles private, so the simplest way to message someone is to click on the envelope icon on the right side of the purple banner at the top of the page on a computer and then click on the new message icon. Sending a message from a smartphone is trickier. You can click on the person username in a post which will bring up a prompt to message them unless they've made their profile private.

the great thing is - as soon as you post, we all chime in!

If you see a discussion you want to follow, you can “bookmark” it by tapping on the icon to the right of the title of the discussion. Then when you tap on your profile you’ll see when there are new posts to that discussion.
