Never argue with a person who has dementia because when you do you are arguing with a disease. It isn't personal.

my 76 yr old husband is a narcissist and was diagnosed with dementia 7 yrs ago. It has progressed and he is convinced he is dying of cancer. He does have Crohn’s disease .. but a multitude of scans, and specialists can find nothing but his primary continues to prescribe more pills for depression, insomnia, the Crohns, high BP, and so many other ‘diagnoses’. He refuses to see a naturopathic specialists. He says sex would resolve all of his stress lol.. claims he does not self satisfy. I am the sole driver, shopper, housekeeper, cook, planner, appointment maker and have posted large calendars on the fridge.. I don’t think I can hold on alone with him .. he has always had a very strong personality! He is not violent at all. Runs the washing machine nearly daily - even with little in it. I’ve learned to stay quiet .. he admitted he has forgotten to do even the most simple tasks but then claims he doesn’t have Alzheimer’s. His hearing is down 50% but he refuses to get aids. His kids live 12 hrs away, and have NO IDEA of his decline though he wrote to them when he was diagnosed initially. I am so grateful to have found this group - truly.
