Coconut Oil

I just heard about using coconut oil at one of the caregiver's groups. They said 1and 1/2 tsp per day. Has anyone used this and did they see an improvement?

Yes when DW was first diagnosed in 2019. At the time I was searching for anything that would help, and like you I heard about the coconut oil. Long story short no it did not work. That being said, that was for us maybe for some it may work.

What was told to me and to other's help with cognitive function. At the time my DW and I were new to the dementia world and were trying anything we thought would work.

On a different note I learned about tooth brushing with Coconut Oil via Dr Josh Axe: https://draxe.com/beauty/oil-pulling-coconut-oil/

Not trying to make a "pitch" but after using this for over 6 months, I have to say it really DID help my receding gums, and teeth much whiter.

I'm posting this to encourage caregivers to take special care of them selves whenever possible/doable.. You/We are worth it. :-)

No, it didn’t help. Didn’t help my husband and didn’t help my neighbors husband. We are all looking for something (that magic pill). If it did work, it would be marketed everywhere.

Long ago, my daughter-in-law was always looking for solutions to help with DH’s advancing Alzheimer’s. At her suggestion, I bought a huge jar of coconut oil; it did not help. DH is gone now over two years, but I still have the coconut oil and it makes a great moisturizer for sun damaged skin after the beach.😍

Stay on this wretched journey long enough and every 'helpful' person standing outside of reality will offer you the 'magic' pill. I'm about to loose my frigging mind to their 'helpfulness'! Sorry, just neck deep currently in this snake oil philosophy and their LACK of real helpfulness.
