A discreet wandering safety idea: AirTag insoles (easy to check location if someone gets lost)

Hi everyone,
I’m in this community as a fellow caregiver / supporter, and I wanted to share something I recently came across that could help with wandering risk.
The Alzheimer’s Association notes that 6 in 10 people living with dementia will wander at least once (often more than once). I have attached the link to the product below; it is a pair of AirTag Insoles
That statistic hit home for me, because it only takes one moment for someone to slip out a door, get disoriented, and not be able to find their way back.
What I found is AirTag insoles (available in different shoe sizes).
The idea is, you place an Apple AirTag inside a small hidden pocket under the insole, then put the insole into your loved one’s shoe. If they ever wander, you can check their last known location using Apple’s Find My app.

It is discreet because it sits under the insole, so it’s not obvious or easy to remove.
Practical as many people won’t wear a bracelet/pendant consistently, but they usually wear shoes.
Fast peace of mind as you can open Find My and locate them quickly if they ever get lost, wander or disorientated.
This is not a replacement for supervision, door alarms, ID jewelry, safety plans, etc. It’s just another layer.
I got them from safestepguardian.com
Hopefully this helps out a few people on here that were looking for a better alternative to current products/devices.

thank you. Great info! Also most Sheriff Offices have programs where they provide tracker watches for those at risk. Law enforcement can then track and locate the person quickly.

I’m so glad you shared this about a tracker in the shoe. That would have been my first choice but the trackers were all too big to hide in his shoe. Right now my DH can be tracked through his phone, wallet and a tile tracker he wears proudly clipped to his jeans. This shoe tracker looks great so I’ll check into it further. Thanks again!
