Things have calmed down
So I made a few posts here earlier this month about my mom and how my parents were struggling. I think we've gotten past the crisis point that occurred - my dad has said he's doing a lot better at keeping things calm at home with my mom. I do think at least some of the worst of what was going on was due to my dad's hip surgery (anxiety around that) and the extra help he needed the first couple weeks of April. Now things have reached a holding pattern of "keep things calm and quiet at home.
My dad also ended up calling the hotline the Alzheimer's Association has to get more support as he was NOT getting the information he needed from the doctors (which is to be expected obviously) - he got a lot of good information from them and will be going through the full intake process when he can. Hopefully having that connection will help a lot since he now knows he can't rely on the doctors completely. There's also a "dementia navigator" that I think works with the state? Or something I didn't get full info but it's another source of support he is exploring.
We'll see how things go - We aren't going to force anything at the moment but we will obviously need to come up with some sort of care plan for how to handle things - something that my dad, sibling and I can agree on that works for the rest of this year in to the future.
ETA: Forgot to say that I have purchased that book 36 Hour Day and will be reading it soon.

I’m glad things are going a bit better. I hope that continues, but unfortunately there will be other bumps in the road. I agree that coming up with a plan B is very important.
