FTD - FrontoTemporal Dementia Staging Tool (by Dr. Tam Cummings)
Just ran across this staging tool and thought it may be helpful for some dealing with FTD.

Thanks BW. May I ask where? I'd like to see some of the notes supporting it (like, do the x's mean only for or not for?). This is the first tool I've seen specifically for ftd, so very interesting and helpful!

PS. I'm adding to the new caregivers group and the FTC group

Here is the link to her website where I downloaded the tool. I also looked through it before posting, but could not figure it out! Hopefully some of the videos that you can access by Googling Tam Cummings FTD can help. Sorry if I added to your confusion by posting the tool without any explanation. (I don't know anything about this dementia type).

Seriously, it's great and appreciated. It's been a struggle trying to find tools specifically for FTD. So much of the resources available need to be adapted from alzheimer's.

It looks like it could be useful if only I could figure it out.

😂 I know... maybe we should write to the good Dr. I will review a couple of her videos to see if they maybe explain the grid.
Here is some other information in the meantime:
...there are generally seven stages of FTD that patients and their families can look out for.
- Stage 1: Early Symptoms. ...
- Stage 2: Language Impairment. ...
- Stage 3: Executive Function Impairment. ...
- Stage 4: Movement Disorders. ...
- Stage 5: Severe Behavioral Changes. ...
- Stage 6: Severe Language Impairment. ...
- Stage 7: End-Stage FTD.

I sent an email through her site to see if we can get some clarification.

So Dr. Cummings just called (!!!) and explained that the x's indicate that the behavior is most associated with the type of dementia in that column. She pointed out that as dementia progresses, they become more similar to one another.
