Help with anger response

looking for help with ways to respond when mom is angry. It has gotten worse (tested for UTI and increasing 1 medication ) and I don’t know how to respond. It is “I want out of here” or “why can’t I go somewhere else” or “I just want to die” or “what do they want, they keep going through my things” or “that person is a b!?!!”. I try to acknowledge her feelings and try to redirect but nothing works! I am not good with conflict and Mom was never this way. I just don’t know what else to say. If I use a fiblet she just gets very sarcastic with me. Any other ideas please??

I join you in seeking help. Mom says those things too. I need help coping with the negative, hurtful things she says i.e. frequent calls saying I've been cut, shot, hit by a car. Fixation is real as there's no redirecting her. Negative comments on my appearance while being the dutiful daughter is tiring. While your mom was never that way, I will not blame all my mom's caustic comments on dementia.

Look for videos online for Careblazers. They have one about anger in dementia patients. Sometimes you can’t help them. Try to remember it’s the disease. I know it’s hard. I just kept repeating the sentence I learned on this forum “you can’t reason with someone whose reasoner is broken” and it helped. I also changed in my mind from being a spouse to being the nurse and my DH my patient. That worked for me. It helped me take the emotion out of the situation. I’ll try to find the video and post the link
