And just in case you can't make the video work, here's a screen shot:
It's not the best and I'm on my phone. I'll try to find another one where I have purple hair.

I saw your video, GG. I didn't know that was a phone, I thought you were digging for cash to pay for the drinks. All I can say is, a masked photo is very, very appropriate for a privacy advocate.
I know nothing about music and I like a variety of music, including some of the goth music. I've been listening to the "40's Junction" station on satellite radio when I was in the car today, and I like it too. Frank Sinatra, Vic Damone, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Shore, all those people. When Tommy Dorsey came on it reminded me that my mother told me she had danced at his show when he played in Springfield in the 1940s. I don't think I had listened to that station since my mother quit riding in the car with me. She loved it of course (Class of 1940). My wife preferred the Elvis station (Class of 1965).
The 1940s music is really from another time. Sinatra sang a song about falling in love on a train. The song was written before the interstate highway system was built, and before jet airliners were invented. Who travels that way now?
Purple hair is fine with me. The first time I ever saw that, it was a woman whose hair matched that of the poodle she was walking, both purple. This was 50-60 years ago, she was ahead of her time.

GG, wow, your workouts are amazing! You are an inspiration. My standard exercises are squat and overhead press with 20 lbs and farmer's carry. Others I do on occasion include heel drops and jumping. In the winter time, I ride my stationary bike while watching college basketball; during the commercials then I will do sprints in our rather large basement family room. Hubby and I went and toured a fitness center this week. I think we will join. They have a track which would be useful for running and walking plus all the usual equipment.
GG, our Hawaii trip was on the Pride of America cruise ship. We flew to Honolulu where we spent a couple of days, then boarded and we had stops in Kauai, Maui and Hawaii. Loved seeing the park where the volcanoes are. Actually loved just about everything about that trip! Hawaii is paradise!
I've been watching Jeopardy and just admiring Scott Riccardi who has now won 16 days in a row and earned over $450,000. I believe Ken Jennings remarked that today would end the season for Jeopardy. Oh no! Now we gotta watch re-runs. Boo. I am wanting to see how far Scott's win streak goes.

Regarding music, AARP magazine has an article about Rod Stewart. Most unique voice ever. He is 80 years old and still touring; also has a Las Vegas residency now. He has been married 3 times and has children by 5 women. He's 80, and his youngest is 14; his oldest is 62.
I was a teen in the 70's. I listened to rock and pop. Later, I took an interest in country. In my car, I listen to oldies from 70's/80's and aIso Christian music. I think the best singer of all time was Whitney Houston.

Beth, I saw that article. His oldest child is 62, his wife is 54. Keeps him "Forever Young"

Good morning. I woke up at 4 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep.
I just stepped into the cart. I saw quite a few older ladies riding in carts in Copenhagen, perhaps they use a step to get into the cart or they are just very limber. There is a little seat that I was sitting on. Here is the cart empty.
Notice the seat belt and the lights in front.
It's nice seeing the pictures.
HB, I got that sweater and one in another color at Kohl's. I liked them so much that I went back to Kohl's but they were no longer in stock.

Morning, watered the plants, filled the water tank, sprinkled Sevin on the Roses of Sharon, checked on the girls in the barn, fed cats, swept floor, had breakfast and now I'm waiting on the technicians from Lowes and Sears. That is the extent of my exercise for the day, I hope. I will leave all the other workout things to you younger ladies. I did carry three big watering cans of water to the plants.
Iris, that cart is very interesting. Did you enjoy riding in it? Guess it is their version of the rickshaw. Back later.

Yes…the pics are wonderful
Lorita…what are your long days about…lets get apic posted!
Ron waiting for a pic with some of those grandchildren…

Dealing with Sears about refrigerator replacement and Lowes about the new refrigerator (for the utility room). I will try to look at the pictures I have on the computer.

I am finally back in my rocker for a little while. I had my PC visit yesterday in Branson. After I was through at the VA, I met my high school friend and her husband at the Golden Corral for lunch.
I left the VA with a 14 day heart monitor and was expecting a box with a lot of wires. Now they have something called a Zio, which is just a small round device stuck to your chest. I'm also getting calls to schedule upper and lower GI, pulmonary, urology, acupuncture, agent orange and burn review and i don't know what else. Need to stick a fork in me and see if im done.
Ron

Ron, what type of VA facility is in Branson - an Outpatient Clinic? Are they able to do all.of those tests? Are you in your camper? Sorry for all the questions.
I just stepped out on the porch and it's really oppressive. Checked and its 93 with 109 heat index. This morning Darwin said he was going to town so called to make sure he was back home. He said he was dizzy and didn't go. Said he felt better now and promised he would stay inside. He has been dizzy quite a lot lately. Told him to get up slowly and stand a minute before he walks. Said he would. He said he needs to go to town for groceries tomorrow. He has been at least once this week. Wish he would let me order them for him but guess he just needs to get out once in a while.

Hello everyone.. too hot to rock on the porch, So, come sit in the AC with me for some iced tea while I finish the preparations for my granddaughter's graduation with her degree in Cybersecurity. Yay!!!! We'll have about a dozen folks here for the party. Just family and a couple of friends.
The table is reset with fresh flowers, the gift prepared. I just have to throw together a fruit tray that includes Washington State RAINIER CHERRIES, GG!!! I'm over the moon. Housecleaning is done and the pool is ready! We cut the pastures and the lawn yesterday.
And, while you're here, you can help me put up fresh corn, okra and tomatoes! We gave away okra, tomatoes and cucumbers to the neighbor and to my cousin who has been under the weather. It's nice to have enough to share.
I have so enjoyed the photos!!!! I've printed them and hung them on the office closet door so I can see you while we "talk". Anxiously awaiting Lorita's picture, especially since she has been such a gracious hostess to us.
So, the golf cart was on the fritz, but DH got that fixed. We have 2 snakes he saw in the barn that have eluded him and hidden from me (thank goodness). He commented after he saw them that he had NOT seen any mice lately. One was a rat snake, they eat venomous snakes, so OK - I can deal with that. The other? he didn't get a look at anything but its tail. Ugh… we have many copperheads in this part of Alabama. And we have 2 ponds so water moccasins are a possibility. I did mention to DH that if there were not so much clutter around that barn we might be able to see what was about to bite us. I think that snarky comment fell on deaf ears… imagine. I'll be wearing boots down there for a while.
The goats are enjoying eating the cornstalks pulled from the garden. It is so hot and humid, they are just lazing around in the shade. A couple are not eating well. They got dosed with Pepto Bismol. We also bought 1000 lbs. of new feed yesterday along with a mineral supplement. And they have fresh bales of hay. No shortage of food, they are just HOT.
Well, let me get up from here and get that corn put up. Y'all stay safe in this heat. TTYL

JeriLynn, you are one busy lady. The.party sounds great. I know your granddaughter will enjoy it and Congratulations to her on her graduation.
I remember Charles and I giving Pierre, one of our poodles years ago, Pepto Bismol. There was pink liquid on him, on us and the bathroom by the time we finished We were using a spoon, no idea why we didn't use a syringe.
Had a call from Sears today that refrigerator replacement is approved and authorized. Should be contacted in 3-5 days with details. I won't hold by breath until it is in the kitchen. Tonight or tomorrow I have to wash the inside of the other one, then transfer the food. I think there's still some tape on the drawers even though I have taken off lots.
It is so hot outside today. The GPs go outside for ten or fifteen minutes, then come back.inside. I feel sorry for.people who have to work outside in the heat and also for the animals being out in the heat. The girls really make good use of standing in the ponds to.cool off. Heat index is still 105 but there is some wind which helps circulate the air. Stay cool.

Lorita, yes im in the camper, but need to expedite my build project for the cabin. The camper is nice and has everything i need, but I miss my elbow room. The VA in Branson is under the umbrella of Fayetteville which is the main hospital. Branson can do some that I need, Springfield some and care in the community the rest.
Ron

So. Ron, you're going to.build the cabin. That's nice so you'll have it just the way you want it. I know you will enjoy your camper until you have your cabin.
Glad you have VA medical care in your area and not far away. Charles was on fee basis for Podiatry in Tulsa for a long time before our VA had a Podiatrist. Good thing you have it because all VAs don't have everything. Be careful in this heat and humidity.

Carl - I don't usually check my phone at clubs, but that video was from 2022 and my sister was still alive and in memory care. I was always checking my phone back then to make sure everything was okay. My s.o. was the one paying for drinks. 🙂
I'm pretty omnivorous when it comes to music, although the 50s is about as far back as I'll go. I'd tend to listen to whatever my aunt listened to. I'll never really understand her trajectory from The Smothers Brothers and Bill Cosby to Black Sabbath. Some things will remain mysteries.
Beth - it's all one workout at a time. And you're no slouch! Good for you on the running - that's something that I don't do. It doesn't feel good to me.
I'm glad you guys got to go to Volcano National Park in Hawaii (it sounds like that's where you went). It's a pretty wonderful place. Kilauea, the volcano there, has been erupting, but I think it's resting right now.
I was also a teen in the '70s. I listened to Queen, Jethro Tull (I play flute, so it was a match!), Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and bands like that. I also liked Donovan and disco - and still do. 🙂 Goth/industrial music came later. I love Whitney Houston. I saw the AARP article about Rod Stewart, I was never a fan, but man, I have to give it to him. He's looking good and he's still out there, so good for him!
Iris - I love the idea of those little carts.
Lorita - Your refrigerator has turned into a saga - a not very good one. I'd be like you, I'll believe the refrigerator will arrive after it's been installed.
JeriLynn - I love that your granddaughter is getting her degree in cybersecurity. We need more people like her.
And OMG Rainier cherries! Yumm. I just had some not that long ago. So good. I'm glad you got some.
Rattlesnakes are what we have to avoid out here, well, maybe not where I currently am, but in California where I used to live. One of my favorite parks, Pinnacles National Park, has an abundance of them, and they'd just hang out there on the trails. We'd just wait for them to go because I'm not tangling with a rattler. Still, I really miss that park.

GG we will see what next week brings. A least I have one new one.. Mike brought vegetables this evening- tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, squash and okra. Will need to take Cate of those and the ones Darwin brought this weekend. Thinking okra and tomatoes. I think I have frozen brown beans to go with that and some cornbread.
About time for bed. Good night, everyone.

Lorita, unfortunately I didn't go for a ride in the cart because there was no one to pedal the bicycle. Plus I never asked permission for a ride from the hotel, I just got in for a photo opportunity.

Well good morning,
Been up since 2:30, couldn't sleep. I put pictures of granddaughter all around the tablescape. From the time she was really little to now. Adorned a floral arrangement with tassels from my Nursing School graduation and late husband's (her grandfather) high school. It looks celebratory. Everything is ready.
We had to babysit her dog last night. He's a rescue, you've seen his picture. Buddy is a sweet dog.
But, I think I'm going to institute a new rule around here. Dogs can visit with their owners but if they need overnight care - find a kennel. I'll gladly pay for it. I'm just over having animals (and the mess) in the house. Am I a bad Nana? I love the dogs but I don't want to babysit anymore. Once Oliver goes to Kitty Heaven I won't own anymore house pets.
The camper is ready for our trip. I put some fresh corn on the cob in that freezer yesterday. We leave Thursday if all goes as planned. Desoto Falls in Tennessee.
I'll post pictures of the graduate and party later today. You all have a good day. And be safe in the heat. TTYL

Good morning. Sunny with seasonal temps here today. Yesterday was brutal. Poor DS worked a 13+ hour shift as trainman so he was pretty wilted by the time he rolled in last night. They ran the wine tasting train which attracts a more well-behaved crowd than the speakeasy folks who can be rowdy. He's pulling a niner today, so we'll get to see him at least.
Mom had a nice time at the pool and even talked with a few of the ladies there. The problem is she doesn't wear her hearing aids to swim but maybe a lot of them don't.All this talk of music. My aunt used to play and sing all those silly songs from the WWII era. MIL enjoyed that kind of music as well. My parents were beatnik wannabees. DH was gobsmacked that I had never seen Lawrence Welk until we were married. It wasn't a thing at my house. They did get into Mancini and Herb Alpert for a time before they mostly played Bob Dylan. Mom still listens to that as well as the music from my era— Simon and Garfunkel, Hall & Oates, Billy Joel, Cat Stevens, Elton John, anything Motown, Sound-of-Philadelphia and British invasion. Most of the time in the car I listen to NPR or the local all-news station. I'm boring like that.
Gothic G— I thought of you the other day. There was an article in the NYT about actor Kathryn Scott (Josette from Dark Shadows) getting married at 82. The woman has not aged. At all.
This should be a gifted link.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/25/style/kathryn-scott-patrick-oster-wedding.html?unlocked_article_code=1.ZU8.Gk_W.dMLtg55cxp9m&smid=url-share
Beth— We did the NCLA Pride of America cruise back when DS was going into 8th grade. That explains our matching leis. DS picked the destination; I was OK with it, but DH wasn't sold on it until we got there. He's a convert now. The ship is nothing special, but the itinerary was amazing. We did a couple days on Waikiki to get used to the time change which gave us a chance to go to Pearl Harbor and drive the North Shore in a convertible we rented. We did see some active lava flow from the ship on the last evening and also some spinner dolphins following the boat.
Ron— My mom had a similar kind of monitor for a month after her TAVR because she threw an arrhythmia in recovery. It was a real improvement over the big boxy one they still sometimes use. It was expensive though— insurance was billed over $30K for a month of service.
Jerilynn— I hope the party is a success. You must be quite proud of her. I'm kind of surprised you're not planning on any indoor pets going forward. The decision seems uncharacteristic of a woman who has been known to run a NICU for goats in-house.
Lorita— I hope you got your new fridge loaded and get the kitchen one soon. I can't believe how long this is taking. It's crazy.

Well, I did not get discharged from PT for my wrist. My range of motion is much improved, but he feels my strength isn't back to where it should be as it's my dominant hand. Part of the problem is that the muscle associated with the tendon is contracted and stiff. He massaged it which was surprisingly unpleasant. It's still sore and bruised this morning. I'm supposed to be doing this at least every other day until we meet next month.
I hope you all have a good day.
HB1 -
Morning _groceries were delivered st 7:15 so that was a good start. The girls grazed all night, went for a swim, then came to the barn for the day. Already hot this morning. Darwin has already gone to town and is back home.
HB, glad you were discharged from PT. It will take a while to get your range of motion back. I imagine. Going to work.on changing things in the refrigerators today. Got the cutest little ice tray this morning. It has slender, long cubes that are supposed to fit into.bottles.
GG,before I forget again the dinosaurs in Walking with Dinosaurs this week were Pachyrhinosaurus, the ones with frills. It said the frills were all different and that is how they recognize each other. It focused on a little one year o!d making the 400 mi!e journey with the huge herd. His mom had a hard time keeping him in tow because he was so curious. Really a good show.I think all, or some episodes are on You Tube.
Everyone is napping right now and I think I could, too,but need to change the bed and do some laundry. I haven't noticed grasshoppers the last day or two - Mike said he thinks they are gone but Army worms are in some fields. I hope the grasshoppers stay away.
You all enjoy the day and try to stay cool.

good afternoon
also enjoyed the pictures
HB I think I would’ve liked being a scientist. During the pandemic, I decided that I might’ve really enjoyed being a virologist. The only thing is I would’ve wanted to do research. The problem with that is all the garbage that goes with it ie. funding, so therefore glad I didn’t realize that I might like to be a scientist.
Marie I hope something works out. But yeah, you’re gonna have a load if she goes before you go. In that area, I was lucky. My mom had gotten rid of almost everything. We hardly had anything to deal with when I sold my house.
yes Loretta I am the one on the left in the picture with my sisters.
you’ve been busy as usual Miss JL., Beth probably is too
HB hope your wrist will continue to improve
I’m done canning green beans, froze some corn and will probably do a little more. Freezing some peaches and dehyrating parsley, mint and garlic. It’s not that much as it sounds because I don’t have children, grandchildren, etc.. my nephew is still living with me and he really likes my frozen told me it’s better than fresh. In fact, he’s been eating it instead of eating fresh. I hadn’t been going to do very much of it so I said well you’re gonna need to help me. So he helped me yesterday. He shucked it all for me. I cut my frozen corn off the cob I don’t leave it on so that’s why it’s a bit of work. The only other thing I want to do is canned tomatoes and tomato sauce. I’ll try to work on that when I get the corn done. Canned tomatoes smell so good when you open the can it smells like a real fresh tomato it’s wonderful thank you.

I met DS' GF today. She seems like a pleasant lady, an attractive woman about his age (50). Bought home-grown tomatoes and cantaloupe on the way home.
The weather is 91 and sunny here, blue sky with white, fluffy clouds. The weather guessers predict rain and cooler for Thursday and Friday. Hope they are right. August is often hot and dry here, and I would like to start the month on a better note.
Medical bills are still trickling in. No sign of the life insurance check yet, no surprise there.
I have befriended a charming lady at the senior center and eat lunch with her once or twice a week. She has a doctorate and retains a lot of intelligence and a sense of humor, but she is 90 and her mind is starting to flicker like an old light bulb. She told me yesterday that one of the men who run the senior center had questioned her about the man she was sitting with, giving her the impression he thought I might be taking advantage of her. Since her grandson manages her money and I only see her in a room full of people, I don't see how I could be taking advantage of her, but we agreed she is an adult and can sit with whomever she wants.

Mint, did you blanch the corn before you cut it off? Just think how good it will be this winter when there's snow on the ground. Nice that your nephew is there to help you and for company when you need it.
Got things in the refrigerator section transferred. I found five LocknLock containers of MOM and Cream. of Wheat. Dread the freezer section because everything is completely covered in fluffy ice, if you can imagine fluffy ice. I won't be able to tell what things are.
Carl, I wouldn't worry about that, you're just being friendly and she needs that. It's 92 here but the heat index is 110 with hardly any wind. I imagine your July and August is about like ours.
Back later.

Good morning. Everyone is so busy.
JeriLynn, what a lovely party you are preparing for your granddaughter. I wish her much success in her career. Where are you going in your camper? Here are some goats in Norway at the hotel we stayed in.
This is the beautiful valley where the goats live.
Carl, it's nice that you're making friends at the center.
Ron, I had the same type of heart monitor. You have to notate if and when you feel dizzy or "off". I hope you get a good report.
Zetta, are you moving again?
Mint, it's nice that you can can for the winter.
HB, I took a wine train trip in Napa Valley a few years ago. It was nice but expensive (about $400). Is DS a conductor on the train? Your mom looked chill on her balcony.
My step grandson's birthday is today. I have no contact information for him so I can't wish him Happy Birthday.
Iris

Iris…does it really look like that???

Those are beautiful pictures, Iris. They remind me of a trip we made to Wisconsin, where we ate in a restaurant with goats grazing on the sod roof. They served allegedly authentic Scandanavian food.

I showered and laid down to watch Quigley Down.Under but I think I napped during the show. He wss one good lookin' fella.
This is my.mother's 110th birthday but she has been gone 29 years and I still miss her every day I lost my patents 13 month apart -'daddy left us before mother.
Love the pictures, Otis. I would like to have a couple.of goats but too many coyotes. That is a lovely.picture of the valley. We really live on a wonderfully beautiful planet.
