Sunny and windy here, 61 degrees at 2:30. Just a gorgeous fall day. The ash trees are losing their leaves, a handful with each gust of wind. Watching those little yellow leaves fall is really relaxing to me.

Went to lunch at senior center and exercised with chair chi, played bingo to fill the hour between lunch and chair chi. Lunch wasn't great but the company was good. I left my jacket on my chair while I went to the men's room after bingo and came out to find one of the ladies chasing after me with the jacket. She thought I was leaving the building without it. Nice people.

Paid my personal property tax today. It was only $40, which is one of the advantages of driving an old car in a low tax area. I've been thinking of buying a new car, but this one runs and is paid for. Besides, I saw a man driving a '48 Packard (?) this morning. If he can do it, so can I.

Guess I'll go try to accomplish something before Grief Share. TTYL

That's me in the front bedroom. I don't know where to start.

Carl, I saw just the car for you last week at the dealership.. It was a black Corvette with beige leather seats and only $88,000! It was so low if I ever got in I would.nevrr be able to get out. Not good for country roads but it was beautiful.

    Good morning!

Nice little thunderstorm this morning, almost made me feel like I was back in Louisiana. DIL text to see if I was ok! All I had to do was grab my M16, hunker down and listen for the sound where I would know where the next round will hit. I do remember for a long time loud noises did bother me, not as bad now but still dint care for loud fireworks close.

Carl, I’m sorry I haven’t at the least text you and let you know why I haven’t been to the senior center in awhile. Ve had some problems with my left leg where the blood clot was and have been told to stay off my feet as much as possible. Have a cardiologist appointment this Thursday, primary care next week and MRI the following. Still having lots of pain from my neck, radiating down my left shoulder and arm, which is my dominant arm.

Let’s all have a sing along in the porch today!

    Ron

Yes. And I couldn't access it for a while due to an outage at a data center in Kansas City. I understand it affected X and other sites. I don't know if that's related to the glitch or not.

Ron, I'm sorry you're under the weather. Hope you feel better soon.

Haven't noticed anything, HB. I managed to get the bed of the PU cleaned out. Put the rest of Billy's hay and the open sack of sweet feed in a closed container The bed was full of leaves so got.most of them out. I need to really clean out the cab but that is for another day. Did get all the shovels and tools.put in the carport out of the weather.

Went to the.mailbox then drove up to the MH to see the girls. There is a huge, two sided creep feeder up there and severaI babies were inside eating. The little babies learn from the older ones.so the youngest ones will learn. Today is feed day but they haven't fed yet. Mike told me.hey have at least 16 pastures to feed.

Ron, how.long.is your trailer? Charles and I lived in an ,8x30 travel trailer for almost two years. Housekeeping was easy -as Carol says "a place.for everything and everything in it's place".

    Where is everyone?

Hello, all my Front Porch Friends. Iam trying to keep up with all that has been going on with all of you. I keep myself pretty busy around the house and tending to all my fur babies. I just turned 80, on The 16th so I can use that as excuse for slowing down.

We have been getting rain and colder weather, I'm enjoying that. Right now its 51 and cloudy.

Lorita. I have not been watching Wagon Train i was getting board with them, i have seen them over and over. Another favorite of mine is Law and Order, SVU. So that is what I have been watching.

Take care all of you, your all in my thoughts. Hugs Zetta

I’ve been singing Louisiana’s Governor Jimmy Davis, Supper Time, over and over. They say when he was running for Governor he would go from town to town campaigning and they always asked him to sing.

Happy Birthday, Zetta. Sorry I missed the day. What did you do for your birthday. Eighty is a milestone!! I agree about Wagon Train. We used to watch Law and Order SVU many years ago and IIked it.

Carl , what can you fell me about annuities? My neighbor deals in those but all I know about is CDs and US bonds. He gets over 5% interest on annuities and the most I get on CDs is a little over 4%.

It is 76 here today and calm compared to 87 and windy yesterday.

Finally I can get on the site. I've not been on because I couldn't. The ALZ Org people say its not this sites issue but rather a security site they use. (I'm sorry, that makes no sense to me.)

I'm going to go back and read. Man I've missed checking in on everyone. It was in the 90's today and the AC is humming along, so odd for this time of year.

If I disappear again, its the site, not me!

    I have a song for the sing-along!

Scarborough Fayre by the Medieval Baebes. It's the prettiest version of this song that I've heard.

About the internet/this site issues - maybe this was caused by the Cloudflare outage today? One of the things they do is protect against malicious attacks: Cloudflare, a US company whose services include defending millions of websites against malicious attacks…. So maybe it was that?

It's definitely been much colder here these days - it only got into the higher 40s today. At least it was only a little overcast, with even a bit of sun. So cold, but not unpleasant.

Today was a pretty good day. My workout this morning was a mix of strength training and boxing, and so I felt invigorated afterwards. It meant I got a lot done today.

I hope everyone has a good evening.

Sorry I missed the sing-a-long. I'm watching Ken Burns'The American Revolution. I think its a five part show. It goes off at 9 so I can watch Lawrence. Last night I went to sleep and missed him!

Glad you're able to post Eagle. Good night. Sleep well

The cloudflare outage kept me off the site earlier today. My computer said I was on line and the ALZ site was up, but cloudflare was out. It suggested I try again later, and it was up when I came back. The Wall Street Journal says the Cloudflare problem put X (formerly Twitter) and other sites out for a while.

A nurse named Heather trimmed my toenails today. She comes to the senior center frequently and trims the nails of those of us who have appointments. The man getting his nails done before me said he had peripheral neuropathy and Heather saved his life a couple of months ago. He had an infected toe he didn't know about. Nurse Heather saw it and urged him to go to Urgent Care. Urgent Care sent him to ER and ER sent him to an operating room where part of his toe was removed. He's getting around on a walker but he didn't lose his whole foot or his life so he's pretty cheerful about it.

Lorita, I don't know a whole lot about annuities. I know a lot of them pay a fixed amount for your lifetime and then stop, and that a lot of them aren't guaranteed by FDIC like bank CDs. Your neighbor may be getting a higher rate of return but accepting a little more risk of loss of his money.

I receive a small annuity based on one of Kathy's jobs, and it has no inflation increases so it buys less every year. I have been averaging about 10% by investing my 401(k) in conservative stock mutual funds for several years but moved my money to a money market account when Kathy started needing hospital and nursing home care last spring and haven't put it back in the stock market. We are living in unsettled times and it is hard to know what to do. On the one hand, the economy seems to be tipping into recession and the stock market probably will eventually reflect that and lose a lot of value, UNLESS Europe goes to war and we get a boom wartime economy. I'm leaving my money in the money market account (similar to a CD) for now, but only time will tell whether that is the best thing to do. When I do move my money out of the money market, I'll go back to the stock market, not an annuity.

It's nearly ten PM. I'm heading for bed. Sing sweetly and sleep well, friends.

Thanks, Carl. I think I will Stay with CDs or money market .I must have changed from MM because a CD had a higher interest rate.

That man was lucky wasn't he? Seems like toenails grow fast and the older we get they get farther away and harder to trim. That should be my job tomorrow. Good night
