welcome. Sorry about your Mom. You might try calling the Alzheimer’s Association toll free number 800-272-3900 listed at the bottom of the page. They may have a list of agencies in your area. Once you get a list check reviews. The VA used Assisting Hands in our area and they were excellent. They do have other locations.

I recommend starting to look at local memory care facilities in your area. There is often a months long wait.

My mom got to the point where she couldnt be left alone. (81 yrs old) Physically she was very able; but unable to find her way back when she wandered. While we were waiting for memory care, I stayed at her house, thenafter a couple weeks brought her to my house. I was 24/7 for the longest 2 months of my life. She wouldn’t sleep at night; she would fall asleep ina chair during the day for 5-15 minutes at a time. If you left the room, she woke up. I had to stay alert at night, because she couldn’t find her way across the hall to the bathroom. (confused the closet door with the bathroom door) So it was exhausting. My husband was very helpful, but we could not go anywhere alone for even 5 minutes.

She has been in memory care for 5 months. What a relief. I had looked at some facilities about 3 months before, but didnt apply for the waiting list. None of the 5 facilities required an application fee. Do yourself a favor and start the process.
