Ron…you live on a mountain??? How wonderful.
I would love white daffodils
Stuff is blooming here…daffodils, tulips, crocus, red buds and pear trees.
Rainy here too..good for the pre emergent.
Trying to find some New York bagels to go with some lox, cream cheese and capers. Not easy in Oklahoma city.
Question. ..Does it count if you watch people exercise???
1 -
I vote yes, Judith! Years ago when we were working I would get up and do 30 minutes exercise with someone named , Joanie on tv. Made me feel better. Then after retirement feeding cattle and farm work. Now? Maybe filling water tank and feeding Billy.

Judith, Google Goldbelly. You can order New York bagel’s directly from a deli or bakery.

Good morning.
Carl, I've been pondering more about why I rescue these stray cats. My animals are a metaphor of my life. They were abandoned, just as I was abandoned by my friends and church people when I thought I might have Alzheimer's Disease. Fortunately, I don't have Alzheimer's Disease. Fortunately, my animals found me, and I found them, to be able to give them a good home and for them to become my fur family. It's been working out, even with the bites. 🐈 😻 🐈⬛️
GG, you've always been a west coaster, so you've never been in real cold country. I am still amazed on chilly days when I wear a jacket and heavy pants, I will see native Californians in tank tops, shorts snd flip-flops. The chilliness doesn't seem to bother them. I even have winter pj's and heavy socks to wear to bed. This is even with the heat on. "They" say to sleep in a cool bedroom but I am uncomfortable in a chilly bedroom, I like to be warm. I also sleep under two blankets in thd winter.
I have never tried Dubai chocolate. The only thing I like is pistachio ice cream, which I love.
I bought the last cassette player at Target, it had been languishing in a back room. I have many cassettes, but I am afraid to play them because I fear the vinyl tape might be degraded. I also have many cds and dvds, which I do play on my DVD player.
Beth, I had to Google marimba. Your granddaughter must be so talented to perform a solo marimba concert! Best wishes to her!
Lorita, I am in agreement to get Sammy neutered. Do you spent a lot of time petting him? I think cats respond to and get domesticated by full body stroking. This has helped with my Sammie. I stroke his body, including his belly, also around his ears, the top of his head and his muzzle. Cats like to rub their faces and ears on things, these are the areas that I read to massage. I also brush and comb him. These have helped to bond him to me.
It's so nice that you and Darwin look out for each other.
Judith, I saw plenty of daffodil bulbs at Trader Joe's, they seem to be popular.

I forgot, today is National Cheese Doodle Day. Anyone?
Iris

DOES A CHEETO COUNT AS A DOODLE?
0 -
ASKED AND ANSWERED
Cheetos came first, introduced nationally by Frito Company in 1948, while Cheez Doodles (under different branding like Korn Kurls and Cheez Doodles) emerged later, with Wise Snacks' brand appearing around 1964, though the general concept of cheese puffs dates back to the 1930s.

Iris, Sammy cuddles with me in the recliner quite a lot. He stays with his mother a lot. He isn't always hissing at Stormy and now Stormy tried to stay clear of him as much as he can.
I can sort of identify with what you said about animals being your family. I have no family now except a couple of cousins I'm not close to. I have been by myself for over eleven years since I lost Charles. I have neighbors but seldom talk to them except Darwin. One is a 70+ partially disabled man, another is the son of an old friend, probably 65. People are few and far between out here. There are only seven people on our section and.none on two adjoining sections.
My parents moved here 86 years ago and I was born in this house, so it's home. I hope I never have to leave. THe crab apple and Bradford pear trees are in full bloom. The pear trees are scattered all around and all across the pond dam. I noticed the wild violets are.beginning to bloom and crocus and tiny daffodils. Grass is getting green and trees are budded with some leaves. Beautiful time of year in Green Country.nSorry didn't mean to go on so much.

Beth, I remember the Joplin tornado quite well. One of my brothers owned a house in Joplin until that day. He wasn't home, but his wife and dog got in the bathtub and listened to the roof blow away and the front wall collapse into the lawn. She thought she was going to die and went to a PTSD support group for years.
Judith, watching exercise counts, just as calories you didn't really mean to eat don't count 😉
Got my teeth cleaned today, then took DS to the cemetery to visit his brother's grave. My son would have been 56 today. He was born in Fremont, NE on 3/5/70, with the temperature about -20 and the wind blowing snow past the Dodge County Hospital. We had to wrap him in about four blankets to take him home in our '64 Rambler.

We should all exercise. The zombies will eat the slow ones first.
1 -
What year was the tornado, Carl?

Lorita, I found this information online.
Timing for Dividing DaffodilsThe ideal time to be moving or dividing daffodils is when the foliage has collapsed and has turned mostly but not completely brown. For most daffodils, this time comes in late spring or early summer.

Beth - Yeah, I lucked out with my trainer. He's a good guy.
eaglemom - I'm so sorry about your friend… I think you're right about your DH. I think he wanted to spend time with you.
Judith - I noticed today that a lot of the trees and flowers are starting to wake up. Some daffodils (that I drive by) are up, and trees are starting to flower. It'll be quite pretty in about a week.
Iris - I'm a weather wimp. 😄 I have no weather toughness at all!
Lorita - for a house to have been in your family for 86 years - I hope you can always stay there.
Carl - Yikes! About the tornado. I've only read about tornadoes, I can't even imagine what that's like (and don't want to).
About zombies and exercise? The comedy/horror movie "Zombieland" has you covered for rules for survival. Rule #1: Cardio. One of the main characters was on a quest for Twinkies because those things will last forever. I can't remember if the movie was all that gross, but it was pretty funny.
So much rain today, but then it cleared up by the afternoon. Unfortunately for me, I got monsooned on as I was walking in the front door of the gym. Lots of squats with weights, triceps, and then boxing. It was a good day.
This afternoon I did my DJ set, which was also fun. Tonight? I'm taking the night off. I'm thinking of reading a book.

Thanks, Beth. I will try to remember. Found another bunch today that was white with yellow centers.
Thanks Sweetwater, I thought that was when my friend, Karen was in a wreck near Joplin but that was about two Years later around Christmas. I think she was in a Joplin hospital a.while.
Already in bed watching Doc Martin. Good night.

I found an expired (12/30/25) bag of Crunchy Cheetos but I still ate them in honor of the occasion. I just learned that Cheetos and Cheez Doodles are two separate snacks, not twins. This is such an educational board!
Other locations have rainstorms or snowstorms, here in SoCal we have windstorms. Yesterday, winds gusted up to 60 mph, which would be hurricane strength if accompanied by rain. Strong winds helped the wildfires get so out of control last year. Fire season starts around July, when the weather is hot and the vegetation is dry. But we have had so much rain over this winter that perhaps the vegetation will be too hydrated to burn much. But we shall see.
Carl, I started following Dr Ellie Phillips, a dentist. She promotes a regimen of three different mouthwashes and a fluoride toothpaste to maintain oral hygiene. I can tell a difference after only a few weeks. My brother is using her method and told me sbout her.
Lorita, I still have several first cousins but they live all around the country, none near me. The younger generation doesn't know me that well, I haven't seen them much once they grew up. My ex is deceased.
It's time for beddy-bye. Good night.

Lorita, The reason you don't want to dig and divide your daffodils before the foliage browns is this: the foliage when still green is that this is helping the bulb store energy for next year.
I'm looking forward to my spring bulbs blooming but it will be late April to mid May. Crocus and snow drops bloom earlier (I don't have any of those).
Past springs at the other house:
Trillium
Tulip tree (Tulip poplar)
Virginia bluebells
Lenten rose (Hellebore)
Daffodils
Jack in the pulpit

Beautiful signs of Spring, Beth. I once had a bed of black tulips and yellow tulips, it made a nice contrast.
We are anticipating the other sign of Spring this evening, with a line of storms with hail and tornadoes around sundown and a cold front with more severe weather about 4:00 AM. Ron and Lorita, this means you too. The storms are expected to originate in north Texas, proceed through SE Oklahoma, and then into northern Arkansas and southern Missouri.

Morning sunny earlier but has clouded up now . Dread the severe weather tonight. I made a mistake- my family has been on this farm 90 years. Doubt I can make it 100 but you never know.
Beth, those flower pictures are beautiful. I bet you hated to leave your garden but I bet you'll make a new one just as nice. Leaving the daffodils until the leaves are brown and dry.makes mowing hard. Guess it's good I don't have much grass except early.
HB, how is the baby knee getting along? Take it easy.
Looks like I need to take Stormy for a little ride. Back later.

Storms headed this way tonight too. Overnight last night we had some thunder but nothing major - got a little over an inch in the area and it continued to rain this morning. Now it is alternating between cloudy and sunny and 65 degrees.
We got our tax prep done and are taking it to the accountant this afternoon. I cooked much of the morning, making blueberry muffins, chocolate chip cookies and a dessert called "dirt." That is crushed oreos, alternating with layers of pudding/cream cheese/cool whip and served up with a gummy worm. That is a favorite with the grandkids and they'll be over Saturday evening.
I just finished a really good book: "The Book Club for Troublesome Women" by Marie Bostwick. I highly recommend it.
I hope you all have a good and safe evening and weekend.
Beth

We went to the mailbox to mail A couple of letters and will go back when mail runs. I had the car in the carport in case of hail so couldn't open the back door for Stormy to get in. Had to back out a little. He was afraid I was going to leave him, then wouldn't eat anything for a while after we got home.
Been trying to get some pictures of flowers and pear tres by the pond. The Bradford Pear trees are beautiful. I counted how many are along our drive, at least 25 and so many in the areas Northwest of house and along west side of meadow . All of these from a couple of trees a neighbor had a few years ago. Last fall Darwin and I transplanted a small one in the yard where I lost a huge Southern Magnolia and it has leaves on it. I wonder if it will bloom.
Sad thing--I was looking at pictures in my phone and found a video of pictures of Sarah during her illness. She looked so frail and sick. No idea when Todd sent it. Last one was of her just before.burial. .Hard to beIieve she will have.been gone two years.July 26, My mother's birthday. Back later.

Severe washer has begun!. Tornado warming about,20-25 miles west of us moving NE. We are not. in the warned area. Looks like quite a lot of storms east of OKC. Long night ahead.
Took a big.bouquet of daffodils to Donna. Darwin said he had told her he would drive down the road to see if he could find some for her, so happy I took them.

Beth - You have such a green thumb! I always like seeing photos of all of your plants. Very pretty daffodils. I have a couple of hellebore plants in the yard, the same color as the one you posted. They're blooming right now. Hardy little things.
More of the trees around us are starting to flower.
We don't have any storms headed our way, although it's supposed to rain every day through next Sunday. I'll count my blessings that it isn't hail or tornadoes.
Lorita - I'm sorry about Sarah. I'm having a similar day today. Two years ago today, my sister passed away from her Alzheimer's/FTD. In some ways it's hard to believe it's been two years…
When we go to the Bay Area in little more than a week from now, I'll make sure to go to the cemetery. I bet M will want to come with me. I'll be talking to him later on tonight and I'll see how he's doing. He was so broken two years ago today…
