Judith, how did the exterminator use the peppermint oil?

JeriLynn, any new babies yet? We had a nrw.one yesterday. When the cows came to the barn mom walked him around the pond and to the corral. She staked.him out and left him there for hours to strengthen.. They're in the old garden now with baby laying down in the sun and mom grazing. In fact here are two out there Three new ones so far.

Just before dark I.saw six or seven deer grazing in the edge of the meadow and I think there were a couple if mmm fawns. First deer I have seen lately.

Mint , how are things with you today?

Lorita…..use essential oil> put on cotton balls and place where you think activity is. I wet the balls am/pm. Peppermint oil is the only thing always mentioned for rat/mouse removal.

I have my usual late winter URI 🤢 Chest Xray was clear and I'm on an antibiotic. I usually wait until I am completely miserable to see the doctor but this time I just got it over with by pretending I had a friend who didn't have sense to go to the doctor and took him (me) to urgent care.

Pretty day outside, sunny and 70. Warmer weather predicted through the weekend, but not the heat wave predicted for southern California.

Good you went to Urgent Care early, Carl. Drink fluids and rest. I know we usually wait too long to go to a doctor. Glad you didn't. Feel better soon.

I hope you feel better soon Carl! At least you're having nice weather, so that's something.

Judith - I hope all went well over at your daughter's house.

Lorita - I bet the fawns were really cute.

We're spending tonight and tomorrow night with Peggy's best friend, M. I brought him some Easter chocolate because everyone needs to have chocolate for Easter. 🙂

Going to sleep early tonight because we're going to go on a hike at the Pinnacles tomorrow morning (one of my favorite places). Here's a link - with lots of pictures. I'm looking forward to it.

Sunrise on the Tennessee River this morning. Still cool but warming up today. We’re getting accustomed to the new (to us) 5th wheel camper. So far so good. There is a small island separating the campground from the main river channel but it’s still peaceful to watch the lazy backwater flow.

Carl, I’m glad you went to the Urgent Care and hope you’re right as rain soon.

Ron, hopefully you are also feeling better.

Peppermint Oil for the win in campers too! No mice, no bugs.

No babies yet Lorita. I’m thinking another month away.

Everyone have a peaceful day ❤️

Carl, hope you feel better soon! I would share some of Judith’s soup, but it’s all gone and I still need more. Maybe if we both beg and send her a virtual hug she will send a bigger pot. Tomorrow is my last day of antibiotics and steroids and hopefully everything is clearing up. Couldn’t even sleep last night for all the coughing with yellow stuff coming up. I need to be out in the sunshine!

I’m wondering since I’m now in Missouri if I don’t just need to get me a bottle of wild turkey since turkeys are native to this part of the country.

Stress test was ok and now the cardiologist wants to send me to a vascular surgeon due to past blood clots. Do these Drs just pass the patient around?

Good morning. Happy Last Day of Winter 2025-2026. We're headed for 51F with a slight SE breeze which should melt the last patch of snow on my front yard.

I enjoyed the pictures Gothic and Jerilynn. So different, but so pretty.

Carl and Ron— I hope you are both feeling better.

Lorita— So you had deer? They're a pretty sight until they've decimated everyone's landscaping. It's funny, a "deer" friend of mine sold her house here and had reason to explore real estate in both CO and the PNW. She was shocked at the inclusion of pictures of deer and other wildlife, as selling points, in the listing photos. That would never happen here. FTR, the home she sold had a vegetable garden surrounded by an 8' fence and motion activated water cannons.

Judith— I am glad that the peppermint oil seems to be working well. I need to get some to try here. Last week I accidently left the bread out on the counter overnight. My bad. They had a choice of artisanal sour dough, Keto-friendly, plain sandwich but went for the Dave's seeded loaf. Yuck.
    ______________________________________________________________________

Busy here today. I have laundry to catch up on and then mom and DH have appointments. Mom's DEXA last week was canceled (tech was home sick) and rescheduled for 12:30 today while DH has a contrast CT scan noon in a different office across the hall. The hospital system sent mom a text reminder and she accidently cancelled. Her near vision is bad as the result of AMD. She realized what she did and claims she called them to re-instate the appointment (maybe she did/maybe she didn't— she hates making phone calls and honesty isn't her strong suit), but when I double checked the time in the portal the appointment was, poof, gone. So, I call radiology to sort this out. Her appointment had been given away and the best they could do for me was either 2:30pm today or in a month. What could have taken a quick 45 minutes is now going to be 3 hours among sick people in a tiny waiting room. Grrr.

I'm feeling kind of salty around this. We already know mom has osteoporosis. She's already eating a good diet and walking most days. We already know mom can't tolerate the oral medications; Fosamax nearly killed her last winter. She ended up with 5 or 6 hospitalizations for aspiration pneumonia and sepsis. Her PCP said, depending on results, he may turf her to a new endocrinologist to explore infusions. Mom would dearly love another doctor in her life. Ugh.

Thank you for the good wishes and virtual soup. Based on HB's report, I think Ron is right about doctors passing us around. I feel a little better after a lot of sleep and some pills. I'm making it a point to stay warm and rest a lot and cancelled my plans to go out with a friend tomorrow.

It's 74 and sunny here. I think Ron and I can limp out into the sunshine this afternoon without harming ourselves. Hope all have a great day.

Beautiful warm day. One of the girls has had her baby down by the pond, very close to the water. I have seen him up once or twice. Scares me that he may get up and stumble into the water. I won't go down because it might scare it. Guess I will Just watch and wait.

Not feeling too well today so have been in the bedroom. When I let Stormy in I noticed someone has opened the gate to the NE pasture. Glad of that so they can eat that grass.

The cow has left her baby and went off to graze. . I drove down as close as I felt I could and he is laying about a foot from the water. They do stay where mom has put them But they do stand up occasionally. I called the vet.but he and the guys are out working cattle. The girl who answered said she would try to get in touch with them. Guess I can only.hope.he doesn't get up.

Carl and Ron I hope your both on the mend. Take it slow for several days and I'm thinking you'll both be right back up to speed.

Lorita you need to have a takin to with that mamma. Leaving her baby so close to the water - clearly she wasn't thinking!

I've been around the neighborhood on the lookout for pieces of our umbrella fabric. So far I've only found a small piece of the orange cloth. I'll wait for Wayfair Days and order new umbrella's from there. Them come fully assembled right to the front door.

I'll be back later to check on everyone. Let's be careful out there.

    That's a gorgeous sunrise, JeriLynn.

Ron and Carl - I hope you both start feeling better soon. Carl, I think you're doing the absolute right thing by taking it easy.

HB - I'm with you - hooray for the last day of winter!!

Man, HB, I don't know how you do it all - and with a baby knee and everything. Your mom has so many appointments!

Speaking of doctor stuff in general … I guess I'm officially old. When I had lunch with Stanton the other day, what did we talk about? Our latest blood tests. 😐️

Beth - the Pinnacles really are one of my happy places. The hikes are all good too - some easy, some strenuous. Today we did a 'moderate' hike. I say moderate because there was a lot of clambering over boulders, and the bat cave had a lot of water in it. We even saw a couple of waterfalls. If you ever have a chance to go there, I highly recommend it.

Here are a couple of pics from today:

    Bear Gulch 1.jpg

The above was at the start of our hike.

    Stairs to the reservoir.jpg

These are the stairs that lead to the reservoir.

    At the reservoir.jpg

These pinnacles are at the reservoir. They're pretty huge. You can kind of see the trail right below those large bushes.

Happy First Day of Spring. Let the allergies commence.

Carl— An hour or so sitting in the warm sun sounds lovely. I hope you and Rin are out and about soon.

Gothic G— The pictures are amazing. Such an otherworldly landscape.

Lorita— I'm sorry that mama-cow caused you such worry. Is she a first-time mother?

Eaglemom— It's generous of you to collect the debris left after the storm. Back when we lived on the creek, we sometimes ended up with all manner of odd things in our yard when the waters receded.

    ______________________________________________________________

Yesterday went off pretty well. DH and I were early for his CT scan; he's one of those folks who likes to be early. They took him right away. The test itself was quick, and we were able to head home before his actual report time. I dropped him off and collected mom. It's the first I've driven— I even snuck out to Ulta for some new mascara and heat protection spray. Mom was pretty well behaved aside from trying to ditch her O2 when called back. Tech shut that down for me. Her results were back last night— a little worse but not statistically significantly. Still waiting on DH's report.

PT for me today. I'm planning to drive myself, I think. I need to sort out dinner. DS will take mom to get her hair done. It'll be nice to not have to listen to her complaining it's been "so looong" (7 weeks, LOL) since she got it done. Last time she attempted to go to the salon independently, she ended up in NJ bound for Brooklyn.

    Have a pleasant day.
