Men's clothing and accessories are boring. I have one pair of bifocals, one pair of sunglasses with polarized lens, and one pair of shatter-resistant shooting glasses. DW had some pretty glasses, but the Lions have them now.

JeriLynn, have a great trip! You are very wise to travel and herd goats and such while you are young enough to enjoy it.

    Good morning.

I'm glad the storms are past.

Carl, greens and beans sound really good for lunch!

HB, I only have one pair of glasses and a spare.

JeriLynn, safe travels and enjoy your trip!

Lorita, you've been pretty active lately. I usually build rest breaks after each activity. This is how I can keep going all day.

    Beth, enjoy your gym workout!

I'm getting ready for my next trip, to Italy, to Florence and the Tuscan region. The flight leaves at 6 am, so I will be leaving home at 3 am. I fly to Newark, then get on a flight to Milan. I will post when I can.

When are you leaving, Iris? Guess I missed the date. .I have one pair of glasses and.three pairs of sunglasses. I have to wear sunglasses outside.

Judith, no nap today. Went through mail and got that organized and wrote to a friend in Montana. Fed Billy and called my electrician. Still need electricity to the barn and Darwin needs lighs fixed in his equipment barn. Jimmy is a wonderful electrician but is covered up with work. I told him he needs to be three people-. He agreed.

Really need to call Bryon to mow but it's too wet. I could probably bale it but have so enjoyed having grass in all of the yard -it will be gone this summer because of all the shade. He was going to paint my porches and also need some more tree work, especially around the big hackberry. Always have too much to do. I have painted the porches but don't want to tackle them now.

    How was lunch, Carl?

I'm glad all of you made it through the storms. I saw that there was a "surprise" tornado outbreak near Kansas City and that some meteorologists are concerned that cuts in funding for weather balloons played a part in the surprise.

Beth - How was your workout?

My workout today was probably "medium". Lots of abs and legs.

HB - Wow, so many pairs of glasses! I have the ones I normally wear, plus a spare, and also a pair of sunglasses. But that's about it.

Carl - The cornbread sounds yummy. Now that I'm (temporarily) off of the ABCs, I think I'll make some for the weekend.

About men's accessories and clothing …… they can be non-boring, but you have to be willing to give patterns and bold colors a chance. My s.o. will often turn up in black and hot pink together, or psychedelic patterns, etc. I'll admit, sometimes he's a little over-the-top (but in a good way).

JeriLynn - Have a great trip!!!

Iris - And you have a great trip as well! Have some fantastic food (I know you will). 🙂 Can't wait to hear about it (and see the photos).

We have sun today - as opposed to the darkness and hail of yesterday.

Charleston is coming up, probably later next week. My s.o. and his brother are handling all of the logistics, so I'll know once they get it all nailed down.

Lunch was really good, Lorita. Pinto beans with ham, cornbread, spinach, and a scoop of peach cobbler, with a cup of milk and two cups of coffee. Met a new person. She has had a stroke and sold her car, but she lives across the street and rolls across on her electric scooter in good weather to eat lunch with us. Her husband, a veteran, died last November 11.

Beautiful day today. I walked down to the small lake below the sr ctr after lunch and sat a while by the babbling brook that flows out of the cave to feed the lake. (Sr ctr is in a park). Peaceful place, with water sounds and trees swaying in the wind. There were geese, joggers, dog walkers, etc. but not a crowd.

Have a good trip, GG. Did you find your camping mat, or will you hook your heels on a door and hang like a 🦇?

Iris and JL enjoy your travels. Stay aware of the weather forecasts. Spring has been record breaking this week. Very hot and sunny, upper 80’s and low 90’s.

    Stay safe everyone.

Where is that campground, JeriLynn? Guess the goats kind of made you feel at home.

Your after lunch walk sounds relaxing,.Carl. Now I'm bean.hungry and I have some frozen that I cooked a while back but will need to make cornbread.

Sandy hope you are feeling well-glad you posted. Talk with you soon.

Barbara, I've been thinking of you and been wondering how you are. You must be having fall weather now as we are in springtime. How about a post to let us know how you are?

About.ready for bed so will say good night, rest well, everyone.

GG, will this trip to Charleston be the one where you move your mother-in-law? Good luck! Glad she is willing even though reticent. It is tough for a person to leave their home and their independence.

My workout was good. I did chest press, 3 types of squats (step squats, box squats and back squats), farmer's carry, leg press, tricep press down, bicep curls, treadmill - those were the exercises on my prescribed workout from the trainers. Then did deadlifts, lateral jumps, step overs, step ups, box jumps, suitcase march, overhead press, rows, bridges and bird dogs. Also added elliptical and rower as I heard that 30" of cardio 3x/week decreases chance of dementia, and 30" daily (?? 5 days/wk??) decreases the risk of 13 types of cancer. So now I have something else to be obsessive/compulsive about!

We have a chance of severe storms tonight. We have had a lot of rain the past 3 weeks, 6.5-7 inches in my rain gauge. The grass is growing like crazy and very green.

JeriLynn, love hearing about your travels and your babies. Sweet little goats! Goats seem like very friendly animals. I have only had experience with them at a petting zoo where they come over to you hoping for a treat! Once we were riding on a bike trail and there were goats along the side of the trail cleaning things up. I guess you can rent them for that.

Iris, have a wonderful trip! I can't wait to hear about it! I appreciate the pictures you post of your travels.

After exercise yesterday, we went to the thrift store and I picked up some Nikes - purple and orange! Also some leopard print leggings and a shirt. Then we did our grocery shopping and later went for a convertible ride and then out for pizza. It was a busy, but good, day.

Lorita it was just on the edge of Oklahoma City - I40: KOA OKC EAST. We passed a small residential neighborhood and then we were seemingly in the country. It was quiet, clean with really friendly people. And, there chickens in with the goats 😆 so we felt right at home 🤩

We’re on our way to Amarillo for 2 nights. Adventure awaits 💕

JeriLynn, better watch out for severe weather-it's in the Texas panhandle and Western Okla. now moving east ahead of and in a cold front. I-40 can be rough in high winds.

Beth, I got really tired just reading about your workout while sitting in my rocking chair.

Cloudy and windy here this morning. Dread this evening and night.

Morning, Ron, hope you're feeling better today.

I'm at the Newark Airport now, awaiting my 9 hour flight to Milan. I've met a lot of my fellow travelers.

JeriLynn, I envy you in your RV. My seat was so cramped, I could not fit my carryon bag beneath my seat, and despite a departure time of 6 am, we were not served breakfast, only a cookie and coffee. But we had a smooth flight and arrived early, so that's a plus.

We've been through Amarillo several times. My BIL lives about an hour NE of there. When we would go visit we took a highway west out of Elk City. The land is so different than Green Country-not pretty just gullies -I like trees and green grass. The people who live out there like it though. We loved Albuquerque, especially Old Town. Have a.good time and be careful.

Iris, when you're on a long flight can you get up and walk around some to prevent blood clots? Did you have to hold your carryon?

Cloudy, windy and dark here-thinking about a nap. Supposed to be in the 60s this weekend.

My peonies started blooming today, just in time for a storm to knock the petals to the ground tonight. Most of the buds aren't open yet, so fingers crossed. It's 80 and windy today. Tonight's prediction is for hard rain, flood watch in the low places. 🤞

Carl - I hope your peonies stay put in the rain. As you say, fingers crossed.

I got lucky and found my thermarest mat. I kind of had an idea of where it was, and sure enough, it was there. I also found my little REI mummy air pad. It rolls up very small. It's the one I used to use to sleep on the floor when I'd stay over with Peggy. I might actually use the little one just for plane space. Sadly, no hanging like a 🦇. But if I had little bat wings ….. 😄

Beth - Yes, we'll move my s.o.'s mom during the trip next week (now scheduled). She's starting to be okay with it. He talks to her every day on the phone (as does his brother), and so they both have a good feel for where she is emotionally.

What great workouts you're doing!! How long does one of your workouts last? I'd heard about the lower dementia risk, but I hadn't heard about the lower cancer risk. Looks like I'll upping my treadmill time.

Judith - Charleston really does have some great food. Definitely a foodie kind of place. We also like going out to Folly Beach, which is only about 20 min or so from my mom-in-law's facility. Some good little beachy places there to eat too.

Iris - I hope your flight to Milan isn't/wasn't too uncomfortable. It's a long flight.

Over in my neck of the woods, it's been going over stuff and getting ready for the trip. We have to combine it with a trip to the Bay Area for my aunt's 95th birthday party. It sounds like most of my cousins are going to show up for it, so that's great - it'll be a crowd. No word on if my brother or my aunt's son will be there. They're the problem children (even though they're in their 60s).

My s.o. and I realized that the night before my aunt's party is Dark Sparkle. It's been eons since I've been able to go to that. So, even though we can't manage to get to Death Guild in person, Dark Sparkle is a good substitute.

    Hi from Down Under

Thanks for thinking of me, Lorita. I read every day, so know what everyone is up to. At the moment, I am struggling a bit. I had a knee replaced 10 years ago, and it was fine for quite a while. But 3 or 4 ears ago, I did something stupid and twisted it, and probably tore a ligament (it made a loud noise! but xrays said no bone damage or damage to the implant)

Anyway, since then I have had almost constant pain, which makes walking, bending, putting on socks etc etc difficult. Using a walking stick most of the time. Docs say it is nerve pain, and I do get injections every 4 months, but they only really help for 5 or 6 weeks. Pain is very tiring, I find, and frustrating.

At the moment, I am preparing for a book sale next week. I am shocked every time I realise I now have 15 published titles. Half are romances, but in the last few years I have concentrated on writing for kids aged 9-12 years. 4 of the books are about one particular dog, Digger. The first is about him on his own, the next 3, he teams up with kids and they have adventures together. The latest book does not involve Digger. I'll show it's cover below.

Yes, we are into autumn/fall now. But today is a lovely warm day, so I have washed some winter clothes, which are outside drying in the sunlight.

Once again, thanks for thinking of me. Barbara

Carl, my peony has three buds so maybe they will be ok. They're a beautiful pink. I have a big bouquet of artificial ones that are the same color and have thought about putting them out in the live plant. What. color are yours?

There has already been severe storms and a tornado warning north of Tulsa. Just checked the radar and the squall line has formed NW of Tulsa headed this way. Probably will be a rough night.

    Good night

Buon giorno, I'm in Italy, in Milan! Right now we are on a big motorcoach driving to Portofino in the Italuan Riviera. It's 10 am here in Italy. We left Newark around 7 pm after a 1 hr delay, and flew 9 hours. The flight itself was fine. But I was in a middle seat, which was horrible. I had to check my personal bag because there was no room for it in front of my seat. Dinner was shepherd's pie (beef and mashed potatoes) and breakfast was a chicken sausage wrap, like a burrito.

Lorita, being that I was un a middle seat, I could not get up when I wanted. I got up only twice in 10 hours. My legs and back felt very cramped.

I got a picture of the Alps but it's not that great from the middle seat. But the Alps are truly magnificent.

    1000006167.jpg

Now I'm on a highway, it looks like any other highway.

    I'll post more later.

Good to hear you're on the ground, Iris. I hate being crammed into airline seats, it's like being in a coffin except with less room. I agree, the Alps are magnificent.

Lorita, I have several plantings of peonies. I have white, red, and pink.

Good morning. We have a beautiful spring day on tap after a run of temps pushing 90F. A/C running in mid-April seems all kinds of wrong.

Carl— The park you described sounds lovely. It's pretty cool that they placed the senior center in a park. Our local state park had been a wealthy couple's estate— the widow left it to the state with the intention that they build a community college there and preserve the rest as park. It makes for a very pretty campus.

Gothic G— I don't have as many glasses as mom does. I make do with my daily pair, a couple backups and 2 pair of prescription sunnies.

I hope the move goes seamlessly. Will you be doing the physical move yourselves or does this facility have folks who arrange that piece? I'm glad you found a sleeping pad in your stash; that should make this visit a bit more comfortable. I hope your MIL adjusts easily.

Jerilynn— The goats make this a true busman's holiday.

Ron— I hope your recovery is coming along well and that eating is easier for you.

Lorita— I hope the night wasn't as bad as you feared and that you were able to sleep through. Will you be able to hire out your porch painting chore. We had the trim painted last fall and it was so much easier. I don't mind painting an interior room, but outside is beyond me these days.

Barbara— I love the cover art for your latest book; it's so bright and eye-catching. I hope it does well. LOL, my one SIL wrote a couple of books recently. Murder mysteries. She consulted my chemist DH about poisons for the second one. I saw the book on Amazon and read a few sample pages— so cringe.

I'm sorry to hear of your continued knee pain. That sounds absolutely miserable for you.

Iris— I love the shot of the Alps. Wow! I can't wrap my mind around mere beverage service for a cross-country flight. That is crazy.

How are you handling the time change? It's a big one for you. Nine hours?
    _____________________________________________________________________

Our weekend dinner partners are still out-of-town, so I guess I'm cooking instead. He's visiting family in Idaho and she's in either Vietnam or Cambodia. It's DS's cheat day which means pizza. I'll need to run out and pick up some mozzarella later. I have everything else on hand— I even have some dough I froze a few weeks ago.

I may head over to NJ. Sephora is having a sale, and they have a couple things I'd like to pick up. I could check out Lands End and Trader Joe's while I'm there. I can't remember the last time I had a proper mooch*. (britishism for poking around a store)

I hope all have a safe and pleasant day.

    Good morning!

GG, travel mercies for you. It should be fun seeing your family for the birthday party. You asked how long my workouts last. I am at the gym for 2 hours usually plus I go to "Fit for Life" classes at the library on Mondays and Thursdays as well, so 3 hrs those days. I do have little rests between sets. Also, I'm not going daily. 3x/week minimum, more if I'm so inclined. When the weather is nicer I look forward to walking outside. And gardening too.

Barbara, great to hear from you! I am impressed with you publishing 15 books. Wow! Are they all on Amazon? I think my grands might be interested in your children's books. Sorry about your knee pain. One would think there would be something more that could be done. PRP injections/regenerative medicine? Acupuncture? Have you sought a 2nd opinion?

Iris, enjoy your trip! Next time, request an aisle or window seat. Middle seats are so crowded feeling. And for 9 hours, whoa. Not pleasant. But I know your trip will be pleasant! Enjoy! Before the pandemic we did a Mediterranean cruise and Italy was one of our stops. We went to Rome, Vatican City and Pisa. We took some of those goofy looking photos where we look like we are holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Lorita, hope you did not get bad storms. There seemed to be many around the central part of the country. Where I live, next week will be nicer weather. Hope that is true for you as well.

Carl, I have peonies too. 7 or 8 of them. 3 were dug off my grandparents' and parents' graves. They are special. I just obtained them last year so this year is the first where I will see them bloom. This is just the 2nd spring we have lived in this home so the garden continues to be a work in progress.

Ron, I hope you are feeling better.

HB, enjoy your shopping and let us know what you come home with! We were at Trader Joe's just last week. It was so-o-o-o cold in there that I couldn't bear to stay and look around. We bought what we came for and left. What a pity. We bought their 3-in-one cleanser and 2 tubes of facial sunscreen. I love that sunscreen. It is a clear gel, so you get zero areas of white stuff on your face.

Yesterday was pleasant although storms came in later in the day. Nothing severe here although there were watches and warnings. I went to the gym in the morning where I boxed, did the elliptical and rowed - plus some other things. It was very pleasant "ellipticalling" next to and talking with one of my new gym friends. I enjoy the socialization there. Then I went to a friend's home. She's one of my very closest friends and she also gardens. She and I worked in her garden doing spring cleaning. She also fixed me lunch which was chicken salad sandwiches, chips, and fruit. After lunch my phone gave me a tornado watch and the sky was getting dark so I headed home. I encountered some rain but nothing bad where I am. There were areas where tornados touched down in MN and IL. I saw a Reed Timmer Extreme Meteorologist video of him in the "Dominator 3" entering the actual tornado. That is NUTS!!!

Today will be busy. I'm going to a Master Gardeners' plant sale this morning. It should be a fantastic sale. They have a (my estimate) 1 acre garden that the MGs plant and maintain. It is a show garden…plus they raise veggies and donate lots to a local food pantry. Anyway, they dig/divide plants from their garden plus some of the MGs dig/divide from their personal gardens and bring plants to sell. I can't wait to go spend some $$$ there!

This afternoon we're going to a soccer game of our grandson's. Tonight we are watching the grands while their parents have an evening out.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend. Beth

    Beth—

Word is the TJ Facial Sunscreen is a spot on dupe for Supergoop!'s "Unseen Sunscreen". That's my go-to if I'm planning to be outside. I'll have to see if it's in stock today. They always seem to be out-of-stock when I go.
