It’s been three weeks since surgery, I’m going to see if I can mow the yard. If I start getting sore I’ll stop, but DIL is sick and son is working on car and has washing to do.

Put them in the closet, Judith, or in albums. Iris, I have to sleep with a small pillow under my knee or knees.. I injured my right knee 60: years ago and it still bothers me form time to time. I can bend and put weight on it. The last few days it doesn't want to bend so have been wearing a compression sleeve. It really helps.
Has anyone ever ordered plants from WM to be delivered? If so were you satisfied with them? I need to go to town for feed for Billy and three or four other stops plus getting plants from WM. I need/want to take Stormy but can't leave him in the car at WM. Yeats ago we saw a big dog left in a car there and called the Police-.don't want that to happen to us.

Battery was dead on the mower, so I haven’t been able to mow. Might be a good thing, DIL said she would take her shoe to me if she caught me on the mower after intensive neck surgery.

She is right, Ron. The last thing you need to do is to get on a mower. You're like Darwin-: just need to be doing something. He bought a new mower and I bet he will be on it in a day or two. You need to be her careful.. The grass will be there unless there are cows around.
It is 88 degrees here. I was surprised because I have been chilly.

Pretty day today, but I let myself be lured into eating the worst lunch I've had in a while. DS loves the "original chicken" sandwich at BK so I took him there. I ordered the "big" fish. It used to be a good sandwich, but it has shrunk greatly, so much so that they now serve it on the small bun they use for kiddie burgers, and it is so thin that there is more breading than fish. They charged extra for onion but didn't put the onion on, and the iced tea was a glass of sugar syrup with a hint of instant tea. The onion rings were just rings of fried dough, no taste of onion at all. Next time I take him out, he's getting his chicken sandwich in a real restaurant that serves food I am glad to eat.
On the bright side, my heat and eat dinner is a tasty Italian sausage lasagna with a side of zucchini. Much better than lunch, and at about the same price.
Doctor's appointment in the morning, then I hope to see Ron at the sr ctr if he doesn't hurt himself mowing or bull riding or something.

We're back home. So much running around, it'll be nice to be in one place for awhile. We didn't end up going to Dark Sparkle the other night, we both decided to get some extra sleep instead. It worked out well because we were able to get to an early breakfast with D & V. It was great to see them.
Then off to my aunt's birthday party. Check out this cake my cousin made! It's four layers of vanilla and lemon sponge cake, two layers of lemon curd filling, and one layer of blackberry compote filling, and then the frosting. It was as good as it looks.
Iris - I had to go and read about the white peacocks, so I knew they weren't albino (but that was a new fact for me).
HB - I'm with you - time to wash the car.
And omg - I'm so sorry for your nieces. This all sounds horrible.
Talking about gas —— in CA it's $6 most places, or close to it. At the gas station on Market and Castro in SF it's $7. 😱
Tomorrow is supposed to be 80 degrees here! I'm ready for it.

@Iris L. It kind of makes sense that EWR isn't as massive given it's one of 3 large airports serving NYC.
Judith— I agree with your assessment that travel and vacation are different. I would also add a 3rd category for trips to visit family; I don't care how nice the beach is, it's not vacation.
Lorita— Diesel here was $5.59 yesterday when I was coming home from dinner. Gas was $4.49 at Costco Saturday at noon. Is farm diesel different that what is at the pump at stations? Does it degrade over time like gasoline does?
Ron— It's probably not a great idea to be doing manual labor so soon after surgery. You don't want to undo any benefit or make things worse.
Carl— That meal sounds ghastly. I was never a fan of BK personally and I agree that the "onion" rings are singularly disappointing. A fish sandwich can be hard to come by outside of Lent. Wendy's does a decent fish sandwich but it's seasonal.
Gothic G— That cake is stunning. It's pretty rare for something decorated that beautifully to be delicious as well.

Fingers crossed I have nothing on my plate today aside from a little laundry and sorting out dinner.
I managed to find a set of 2# hand weights for mom yesterday as well as a nice healthy Delaware Valley Azalea. When I redid her front garden I planted 7 tiny ones. One didn't make it and one was badly damaged by a tree crew removing a tree— this left the one end of the bed looking sparse. I also need to transplant a couple smaller hosta that end up obscured by larger one. Perhaps I'll do that tomorrow after her cardiac echo.
I'm taking her out for Mother's Day tea on Thursday in lieu of a crowded Sunday experience. It'll just be the two of us. Niece 1 and I decided she and her sister will do something else which means mom will get taken out twice which she'll appreciate. It's in an old historic inn which should be nice. It's weird, though, I had to make the reservation days in advance and leave a $50 deposit.
My BIL is still in the hospital. The psychiatrist is weaning him off all the psychoactive meds he's been prescribed. He's still angry, confused and can't transfer from chair to bed without falling. MRI today and possibly lumbar puncture. He'll be discharged to a SNF for rehab. Niece and I discussed potentially doing that near her house to make things easier for her as she's the point person. I also suggested she consider setting up a patient portal so she can get test results as they're available as she can't be bedside through the week.
I hope all have a pleasant day.

Gas yesterday - SUV was 1/3 full already and it cost $59.00 - $4.95. There was a sticker on the gas pump, a photo of Trump pointing his arm/hand at the price and saying, "I did that." 🤣

Good morning.
I agree Judith, travel and vacation are different. Right now I need a vacation from my travel. 😉
Ron, it's too bad you can't hire some of JeriLynn's goats to "mow" your grass for you.
Carl, Italy has no fast food places. Even at the truck stops there is cooked food for patrons. I saw only a couple of McDonald's, and only in Milan, which is a big city.
We ate well at the hotels, but apparently a common everyday Italian breakfast is a croissant and a cappuccino. Lunch and dinner are sit-down affairs with three courses. They take a break after lunch, like a siesta, but they dont call it siesta.
HB, here are some beautiful Azaleas at one of the palaces.
Iris

Ron, your DIL beat me to the punch!! I sat STRAIGHT UP and said “oh no you’re NOT!!!”
1 -
Morning,.Iris the picture of the azaleas and. background is beautiful. The town where our VA Hospital is has a big azalea festival. It's a huge park filled with azaleas and.other flowers. At Christmas they decorate the trees and shrubs with lights. Glad your knee is better
HB, farm diesel is the same as at the pump except it's dyed red. It's illegal to use farm diesel in a vehicle you drive on the highway because farm diesel is exempt from federal tax and you can be fined if caught. Ours may have water in it now because it has been in the tank a long time, however the diesel in the filter is still bright red.
GG, glad you're home safe and had a good trip. Time to rest now.

Bagpike chanter has arrived…first lesson tomorrow evening…sooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2 -
You're really.going to learn to play the bagpipes? Good Luck with that.
I just heard about the mass shooting in Edmond. Twenty I three people shot - didn't hear about fatalities.

Good afternoon, hugs Zetta

Yep….I am learning the bagpipes. Step 1…I put the chanter together
3 -
More later, but …
Judith - Corvus Corax, a neo-medieval (who comes up with these sub-genres, anyway?), prominently feature bagpipes (they build all of their instruments themselves, including their bagpipes).
Here's a track for your bagpiping pleasure. The first instrument that you see in the video is a hurdy gurdy, but maybe you already know that.

I love the sound of bagpipes. I imagine it takes a lot of wind to play them.
Hi Zetta. Are you okay?

Lorita…Playing the bagpipes is a great way to build up your lung capacity
and is great for the cardiovascular system

Good afternoon.
Let's see. I paid $4.49 for the cheapest regular gas and diesel is $5.49.
That peacock pic is beautiful.
I had a blood draw & PCP appointment this morning and tomorrow morning I get to visit the dentist, again! I had a cleaning two weeks ago and all was well, until Saturday (naturally when they are closed) and a cap comes off. I've been very careful and thankfully its not hurt, but I'll be glad to have the cap back on that tooth. Ugh, always something.
GG the cake, my goodness it was beautiful.
Iris I'm not surprised your knees are hurting. You did a lot of walking / hiking. They'll calm down in time. You might try some ice - that helps pain and swelling. (Like you didn't know that!)
Ron you need not be mowing. Nope, that's not on your to do list. I love that you want to help, but that's too much too soon.
Oh the joy's of figuring out what to fix for dinner. I really don't mind making it - its just the deciding part.
Let's be safe everyone.

On second look, my car is white with gray, not black, interior so it isn't actually the storm trooper look. A man came to the senior center today in a Jedi robe, which reminds me to wish you all a happy Star Wars Day. May the fourth be with you!
2 -
I had a nice visit with Carl at the senior center today and now that my surgery is over I hope to go more often.
My grandson started mowing after school today so I guess I want be mowing.
Ron

Just to clarify, Ron was not the man with the ponytail and Jedi robe.
I think I have all the broken glass picked up from the flower bed under the kitchen window. I swept up the glass from my front walk where I used to have a row of lights the other day. Making progress. Even did some weeding after I ran out of glass. It was a nice day for it, warm and breezy. Rain predicted tonight and tomorrow.

and may the forth be with you also………..

Carl, how did the row of lights break?
Judith, do you get to wear a kilt?
Iris

Lorita - I like bagpipes too. I'll go out of my way to listen to them.
Judith - Interesting about the history of bagpipes. I'm excited for you (the classes).
Hi Zetta - how are you?
HB - I hope you ended up with a mostly relaxing day, and that nothing unexpected came up.
Afternoon tea with your mom sounds nice.
eaglemom - I'm glad my cousin has taken up cake baking - fewer broken bones and knee injuries than when she was doing roller derby. 🙂
I guess it's still technically May 4 (at least where I am), so May the Fourth be with you!
I'm hanging out at Death Guild right now, watching the video feed of what's going on inside the club. I'm seeing a lot of Star Wars themed costumes.
Today was back to everything. Boxing this morning, which felt really good. Then laundry from the trip(s), and getting everything ready for tomorrow's blog post.

Iris, the lights were broken by hailstones. The hail also broke the outer pane of my kitchen window, and the windshield, rear window, and sunroof of my car. The largest hailstone reported in my area was 4.75" in diameter, which is larger than a softball. It takes really strong updrafts in a storm to create hail that large!
A rainstorm is making its way to me right now and should be here any minute. The strong storm appears to be in NW Arkansas, which is fine with me. I lost a tree last year about this time, and a car this year, I'm ready for a break.
I like bagpipes. There used to be a Kansas City bus driver who played, and he had a layover in his route every evening at the place I caught another bus home. So, about 6:00 pm, I could hear a bagpipe solo while I waited for my bus. Bagpipes at sundown is kind of melancholy, but I liked it.

Good morning.

Morning - cloudy here and warm but a cool front will be here by noon.
Carl, you had a lot of hail damage- does insurance cover that? Only have seen hail that big one time and the big ones were mixed in with smaller hail.
Had my groceries delivered yesterday afternoon so glad that's done- still have a few things to put away. I guess the delivery guy's Jeep upset the geese.because they were really honking while he was here. I hope hey have little ones- so much fun to watch them on the ponds.
Enjoy your day - back later.
