if there is a sudden change as you describe and you haven't already, please have him checked for a UTI, other infection or medical reason for this change. Infections can often create these behaviors. Also, if any medications have been changed recently, it may create an issue. I wish you the best of luck.

anti anxiety, depression and antipsychotic medication is probably going to help the best.

This very same thing has started with my mother as well. She starts crying, saying, "I want to go home, I don't want to move."
It started shortly after my dad and her had a conversation that if/when this disease becomes too much they would have to seek care at a facility.
I just hug my mom, rub her shoulders, arms, etc and say, "I love you, you are safe and I completely understand why you want to go home as that is your happy and safe place, but I am right here with you and you are home."
It takes a little bit for her to finally calm down and stop crying but it does help. Also helps that my dad says to her, "wherever you go, you won't be going without me"
It's so heartbreaking to see this I know. I am so sorry that you are getting to this stage now!
