I am pretty new to this site so I hope if this post is not appropriate a moderator or one of you guys will let me know and I will delete it or have it taken down.

So… A while ago when this journey was newer, to relieve pressure I would go into my shop, shove my face into a folded up hoodie sweatshirt and scream until I was hoarse. Not very productive but a pressure relief. There are still times I want to go eat a sweatshirt in the shop however not as often. Scrolling through the posts here there are some comments that are things we have dealt with I am surprised others have also dealt with. Seeing those comments affirmed to me I am not the only one and am not crazy, mostly.
We have been through a lot of steps or stages so far. Probably at stage 6 or so. I don’t want to burden friends or family with every little thing. Sometimes for me there is a need to have a short vent without a solution. Just an Abyss to send the frustration into never to be seen again.

I can start

WHY CANT YOU JUST STAND UP AFTER GOING TO THE TOILET!

PLEASE GET INTO BED WE ARE BOTH EXHAUSTED!

I know we all have our frustrations but I am running out of sweatshirts. Just venting.

On YouTube is my favorite song by Dory Previn, "Screaming in a twenty mile zone", please listen in place of a sweat shirt. I turn R and R up loud, drive fast and burst loose for ten minutes every once in a while. My sweatshirt.

The urge to scream is a peculiar sensation. It is something I did not realize was in me until DW got this disease. Sometimes I would go out in the yard to scream so as to minimize DW's fright. I impressed myself with the strength of my voice and would not have been surprised had the police arrived (although that did not ever happen).

I’ve gone into the garage, climbed into my car and screamed my bloody head off. It’s cathartic

I have had the same feelings many days. I on occasion have also screamed in our garage to release the frustration caused by my DW and the

disease. You are certainly not alone in your feelings of frustration. This is part of what we are all enduring.

I hear you dcare45! I feel like an overwound spring. I don’t scream, I do find myself in tears (unusual for me because I’m not really a crier). All of us here, I believe, are being pushed to the limits of human endurance by this most evil disease. None of us anticipated being part of this “club” no one wants to belong to. I have no suggestions for you. Only a BIG I understand & I’m sorry. Writing helps & makes us feel less alone on the dreadful arduous journey.

I once wrote that if I can hear my neighbors dog barking through their home and into my home does that mean they can hear me screaming from my home into their home. I guess not or else I probably would’ve had someone knocking on my door. It happens. Sometimes spontaneously. But now that we are in the twilight of her existence I can’t justify it (as if I ever could). Our human bodies and brains weren’t built to do this. It’s the brains way of coping I guess. May god have mercy on all of us.

    Hi Anna2022

I guess we are not the only ones screaming into the void! 😂

Had never considered inviting others to join me. I’ve always been more spontaneous. Thanks for the link I enjoyed it.

Joining the group my car was my go to often while in the earlier stages. Once I screamed so loud DW came running. Car didn't hold it all in, the frustration, hurt, anger…. Started going down to the river near us. The ducks think I'm a crazy person and keep their distance. 🤣

My expertise was slamming, and I mean loudly slamming. Slamming cupboard doors, slamming dishes into the cupboards. Slamming the garage door, bedroom door, bathroom door. Anything I could slam, I would slam it with all my might! Those poor cupboards.

I hadn't checked this group in a while, but this morning I felt I had to come here. I'm crying over nothing/everything and feel guilty for being depressed as if it's selfish. I have good caregivers to help with most of his care, but they always ask me what he wants for breakfast, etc (as if I could know), and I always feel watched myself. I actually had to go to the ER Saturday because of tightness in my chest, which was, of course, stress. (I told everyone so!) We live in the woods, so maybe a good scream would help me too, but I think I do need to address some of my personal crap in a way that might make things better.

    Dear @cb4jb

I was in your place about 6 months ago - sobbing uncontrollably at the drop of a hat, sleeping fitfully, and constantly worrying about everything. After reading several posts from some terrific caregivers on this site, I finally relented and sought professional help. I found a wonderful psych nurse practitioner who diagnosed me with moderate anxiety disorder and has me on low dose Buspirone that has been a Godsend! I am also seeing a mental health counselor who is a psych social worker, well-versed in dementia. Between the two, I am better able to function. (Tho I still have my moments!)

Glad you have some support to help you. You are fortunate!

You’ve taken a big step in writing that you may need to “address some of my personal crap…”. I encourage you to keep forward momentum on that thought and find a way to do just that.

Hugs and prayers for you. I hope you will check back in with us in the near future to let us know how you are doing. We care!

I’m glad you checked back in. This is all stressful stuff we’re dealing with everyday. It’s good to let it out.

It sounds like you’re in need of a little care for yourself. It’s important you get that. I agree with jgreens comment
