Kisunla Infusions

Has anyone heard about or tried Kisunla infusions? It’s supposed to halt dementia symptoms (I don’t know for how long) but not reverse it. I’ve read that the success rate is high. It is FDA approved since 2024. There is a process you go through before knowing if you’re a good candidate. Would love to hear experiences. TIA

If you enter Kisunla using the search function at the top of the page, you'll find many discussions about it.

It doesn't halt but does slow the progression. It is worth doing what MaryMN mentioned lots of info here.

It worked wonders on my wife. It is not a cure but, in our case, immediately stopped the decline. No reversal, but has given us several more years together. Works best if in early stage Alzheimer’s.

My DH did them for about 11 months. The stress of the 3.5 hour drive (one way) was too much. That was the closest infusion center and it wasn't approved for home infusions by Lilly (manufacturer) at the time. There was still progression, although might have slowed it, but the stress of the drive outweighed the benefits for us so we stopped.

DH had twelve infusions last year. He had no problem with any of them. After 12 you get a PET scan. Just before his PET, he fell and had a brain bleed. There were complications to deal with from that so the PET was put off until last week.

I have not talked to the doctor yet, but the results are in the portal —“Negative florbetapir scan, indicating sparse to no neuritic plaques.”

Brain bleeds have effects. He declined significantly after it. But, now is back to almost his functioning before the fall.

When he was first recommended for the infusion, the nearest place was about90 minutes from home. Before he started, they opened one 40 minutes away. He was one of their first clients. Now there is one in the next town, 15 minutes away.

We tried it with no improvement. But my DH is too far in the progression of the disease. The neurologist didn’t expect it to help but we chose to try it. My DH and my kids needed to know we did everything we could.

DH had a stroke after 3rd infusion. Be sure you get a 2nd opinion before you start treatment. If we had, we would have been advised not a candidate for this treatment and the stroke would not have occurred most likely.
