I saw this in a neighborhood.
The Grim Reaper on a skeleton horse?

The tree adds to the creepiness.

Morning, pretty day. Love this weather. Hard to believe Barry Gibb is 80. I think he was so good looking. What happened to Andy - was it a drug overdose?
This morning Mike told me the man who used to own the section east of me (Mike has it now) didn't answer his phone when his brother called so he drove down from Missouri to.check on him. House was locked but emergency services got in and found him deceased. Sandy, hopefully he didn't have cats or a dog in the house. They said he had been gone at least a week. I told Mike that's what I was afraid would happen to me. He calls fairly often to check on me and asked me to put him as first contact on my medical guardian. Kind. of makes à person think about AL.
Judith, you haven't mentioned Winda in quite a while. Is she okay?
Iris, sorry but those skeletons are just too much for me. Never have liked skeletons. Bats and black cats are ok though.
I have so much paper I need to get rid of- tried burning it last winter and shredding would take forever. Guess I need to do a stack at a time. I know I have income tax papers that are over 20 years old. Back later.

Good morning.

Lorita…yu have a lot of protection with your medical guardian so do wear it all the time.Keep it by your bed and put it on when you get up…that includes during the night. This willl protect you and your pets.
Winda is fine. I will let her know you asked after her.
Paper. I deligently try to take care of mail the day it arrives. I shred/file or put it in the to do stack which almost always has one or two things in it. My accountant has electronic copies of my returns but I still keep info for a few years.

I will try my best to wear it all the time, Judith. Sandy reminds me all the time which is much appreciated.
Good to hear that Winda is still around and okay. Tell her hi for me.
Got my propane tank filled this morning so ready for winter. Hope it isn't a bad one like the summer was. Our average August temp was over 99 degrees and so was September hope that doesn't mean more than climate change.
Saw the little black cat again when I fed today. He actually came to the food while I watched closeby. Hope the other two are also here. The opossum didn't come to eat the potato and carrot peelings but it's still there so maybe he did last night. I saw an ad on tv yesterday showing two opossums- not the prettiest animals but kind of cute.
I don't go to the mailbox every day so when I do go there's quite a lot of mail. I should do better. Should start driving partway and walk the rest hoping eventually I can make the roundtrip but part of the return trip us uphill. It might also help Stormy's arthritis.

Just wondering —have you all had your flu and covid vaccines yet? I made an appt. for my flu shot next Tuesday. I just checked and last year I didn't get it until Nov. 25 because I was dealing with diverticulitis. Got my covid shot a couple of weeks later.
I have read that the flu vaccine lasts three months but in another place it says six months. Just gave Billy the last of his feed so may go get that and gas tomorrow and reschedule the flu shot. I see very few people so.guess I could wait. Decisions, decisions.

Hi! Back home. I'll report on our trip to Wisconsin soon.
Lorita, my dr. said he advises his patients to get their flu shots in mid October. I did get mine a couple of weeks ago.
Have a great weekend! Beautiful weather here; leaves are beginning to turn.

Lorita, I have had my flu and covid shots, both the same day and in the same arm. I never have reactions to vaccines and all I had this time was a little soreness the next day. I heard the flu season has started early this year so when Walgreen advertised them I went ahead while I picked up my prescriptions. One of my friends is getting over covid and his wife has it now so glad I got the shots.
Ran into a friend today who was using a cane, which is new for him. He hurt his back landing a big fish in late September and couldn't walk, so he has been in a wheelchair for three weeks and the cane this week. Doctors are still getting tests (X-raying his wallet, probably) and deciding what to do next. He's only 64. Seems odd to see someone 15 years younger who has more trouble than I do, but so it goes.
Ozark Storytellers came to the senior center this morning and led a storytelling session. They told a couple of ghost stories I hadn't heard and the rest of us told a few. Good times.
I made some 6-can soup for supper tonight. It is "pantry cooking" and consists of one can each of red beans, black beans, great northern beans, kernel corn, crushed tomatoes, and Ro-Tel tomatoes. I heated some to eat, froze some, and will eat the rest over the weekend.
I'm off to thaw some blueberries. Take care of yourselves, and remember:
Wash your hands and say a prayer,
Because germs and God are everywhere.

Iris - I love all of those skeletons!!! I especially like the big one with wings in the last photo. I also like the obelisk. The evil pumpkin gets points too.
Lorita - Barry Gibb at 80! Hard to wrap my head around that. Then again, it's hard to wrap my head around my age. 😄
About paper accumulating …. I tend to keep my stuff under control, but then I got a peek at what my s.o. is holding onto. Ugh. Let's just say he's not as good at keeping up. Maybe while I'm recovering from my cataract surgery I'll shred all of his stuff for him.
I haven't had either of my vaccines yet. I'm getting both shots the first week of Nov. I'm not terribly worried about it because when I'm out, I mask, even at the gym - especially at the gym. I have so much medical maintenance within the next few weeks - dexa scan, dentist, the final stuff for my regular annual exam, along with the cataracts. With so much poking and prodding, I'm going to be well-deserving of my night at Death Guild when we go to the Bay Area.
Welcome back Beth! I hope you guys had a wonderful trip.
Carl - I wish I could eat blueberries, but I'm really allergic. I turn into the little girl from Willy Wonka if I do. It's too bad because I really liked the taste.
I had a great gym day today. Lots of abs, but mostly boxing. It all just felt really good. Then I came home and raked up all of the leaves.
I'm contemplating a nap so that I can stay up late tonight.

The kangaroos loved green grass and would eat it out of your hand. I enjoyed the little outing and had to have a hot fudge sundae after feeding and patting the kangaroos.

GG, I also wear a mask when I'm around someone. This may be overkill but when groceries are delivered I wipe them down with a disinfectant wipe and I spray my mail before I brng it in. Who knows how many sick people breathe or cough on those things. Just makes me feel.better to do it. Began doing those things during the pandemic and.continue.
Have you seen pictures of Paul McCartney? I hardly recognized him. I think he's one day older than I so that's why I try to avoid mirrors.
Welcome home, Beth. Time to rest up!
Ron, love the pictures of the kangaroos. They look so cute.
Thanks, everyone for telling us about your vaccines. Guess I will get the flu shot next week and covid vaccine later.
Carl, do you drain the cans of vegetables and just use the tomatoes as liquid. What seasoning do you use? Really sounds easy. Carol used to make something similar. I love vegetable soup. I call mine stoup because it's so thick.
Time for sleep soon. Good night.

I don't usually drain the cans of vegetables because I like my soup "soupy" but sometimes I drain the corn to make it thicker and more bean and tomato flavored. I sometimes season it with chili powder, but I didn't season the bowl I ate tonight at all. Some people add a can of chili, which makes it 7-can soup, but I prefer just the veggies. Yes, it is super easy and fast. It is a great thing to make on the first night in camp, when you arrive on Friday night after work and a drive to the lake and everyone is hungry. It actually makes a balanced meal if you count "balanced" as meaning one protein, two veggies, and one carb.
In other food news, I see that Tombstone has declared itself the official pizza of Halloween. I guess you would heat it on a bone fire☠️ There will be other grave matters to discuss as the month progresses, but for now the witching hour approaches and I'm turning in. Good night

Ron, those roos are way cute! Thanks for sharing (but I'm sure you didn't share the sundae).

Good morning.
It's sunny and chilly this morning but should get into the low 60s. Copy & Paste for the next week.
Ron— That is such a lovely tribute to you and dear Lou. I bet your nephew sees you as a role model.
The 'roos are cute. DS's school had a petting zoo come in during the first week of classes and he got to pet a little joey hanging out in what looked to be a bag fashioned from a dishtowel.
Gothic G— I have yet to find a shopping my mother doesn't enjoy. She loves it all— true factory outlets, traditional retail, consignment, thrift, warehouse, auto dealers, antiques, yard sales, auctions. I hate to do Costco with her because she doesn't hear or see well and she seems oblivious to others. I get a lot of side-eye from other patrons for bringing mom when it's busy. Plus, she runs up on my heels with the over-sized carts loaded with must-haves most times we go.
I hear the flu has really taken hold in the PNW. You're wise to mask ahead of your surgery
Iris— I love that Halloween display. A+ for effort in my book. I just wonder where everyone stores all this crap.
Carl— I hope they can figure out what is going on with your "young" friend and get him feeling better.
DS's scout troop's food was ghastly. I can remember DS's patrol pouring individual cans of chili into a pot over the fire while making retching sounds. It was appealing. Later that night while walking back from the bathroom, I passed another troop where the boys were complaining about doing dishes. One boy asked what had been on the sheet pan he was scrubbing only to be told it was the stuffed mushrooms. Why wasn't my kid in the stuffed mushroom troop?
Some troops go all out. There was one troop we sometimes ran into that had a portable kitchen in a trailer and an older guy who liked to cook. The man had an electric deli slicer— who camps with a deli slicer?
Lorita— The flu is already out. Mom's doc is recommending the vaccine asap. Since it is most effective for 3-4 months, you could always do a second shot if the flu is still active late in the season.
DH and I did ours 2 weeks ago. Like Carl, both jabs in the same arm.
___________________________________________________________________________I coerced DH into taking a walk in the park yesterday. I even let him pick the trail. The leaves are finally starting to really turn. I also made a short video clip in which you can hear the babble of the stream, but the file is too big to share easily
I need to get back to sorting out Medicare options for next year. I hope all have a safe and pleasant day.

Morning, bright and sunny here this morning but guess I'm not since I dressed in black. For some reason Darwin and wife has really affected me. I'm not scared with them not being there but it was good having someone near if I needed help to.do something. End of an era, I guess.
Trying to decide if I want to run into town to get Billy food or wait until Monday. Not in a mood to do anything really. I may not get my flu shot Tuesday because I have a drippy nose but maybe it's allergies - lots of weeds in the country. I don't think you're supposed to get it if you have a cold. Haven't been around anyone so guess it's okay.
Thanks for the information about the soup,Carl, I may try that.
HB, that baby joey is so cute.
Billy is out front grazing so he's happy. Our Hackberry trees are really beginning to turn yellow which is kind of unusual. I remember one year when we had a dry summer the trees were really pretty. Mother Nature does her own thing, I guess. Enjoy your Saturday.

I'm off to a craft show at a church and then to a Red Hat luncheon.

Have fun, Iris. Oktoberfest is going on in Tulsa. That was always a lot of fun. Love funnel cakes.
Finally decided to go in and get feed for Billy so Stormy and I went. The little town was hoppin'- just a farm town on Saturday. A train was going through town next to the feed store. When I got there the parking area was full with trucks getting feed. Guess some people are already feeding. When I came out there was only one truck left. They have bins of dog biscuits so always get some for Stormy. This time they had the sweet feed I like which is really sticky with molasses.
Filled up with gas at Casey's -$38.54 for 3/4ths tank -&4.34 per gallon. Their diesel was over $6. Flying J had diesel for &5.99.
Surprisingly, the country roads are all traveled for the first time in a coon's age. Came.back a different way by my little town. Someone has a paddock with a white long horn and several little goats. Of course I stopped and talked to one.who was close to the fence. Many, many more posts for the solar farm since I was last up that way. Glad I got that done - will get the feed out of the car and feed Billy later.
It is a beautiful day and all along trees are turning but mostly browns and amber.

HB, you live in a beautiful place. It's 80 degrees here, hard to imagine it's nearly November.
Where do people store seasonal decorations? I have one small room of my house full of stuff, mostly Christmas decor, but I note that for the dedicated decorators the storage unit industry owns many acres of multistory buildings and grosses billions of dollars annually.
I put DWs old green 10-gallon milk can between the doors of my 2-car garage and set a $4 pumpkin on it. When the pumpkin starts to go soft, I will toss it into the back yard and watch the birds and squirrels eat it.

Ron - those are such great photos of kangaroos. They look friendly.
Lorita - I've seen photos of Paul McCartney. I actually think he looks pretty good.
Gas here in my neck of the woods is $5.18/gallon.
Carl - I'm dyin' over here …. the dad jokes. 🙂
I don't have a lot of Halloween decorations, but being the good goth that I am, I have things out all year that people might consider "Halloween decorations." They're just "home decor" to me. I have a few boxes of Christmas decorations, but they all fit into the downstairs closet in my office.
HB - I love your park, very pretty. I think we're at peak foliage over here. Good thing, because it started raining tonight and will continue for the next 10 days.
Last night Karyn and I were tweaking some things on the blog, and we started talking about our problematic brothers. She pointed me to a song called "Brother" by Murder by Death. I'd never heard of them, but the song is good. It's kind of twangy, not quite country, not quite goth. Fun video too.
Over here? I got all of my cleaning done today. I'll probably do a touch-up on Tuesday, just to give my s.o. a break for when I can't do a whole lot of clean-up. I'm nervous about the laundry.

GG, I never heard of a band called Murder by Death, but "Murder by Death" was one of the funniest movies I ever saw. It was a spoof of a murder mystery, set in a country house and starring Truman Capote, David Niven, Peter Sellers, Maggie Smith, Alec Guiness and a slew of other nuts. It has been 50 years and I don't remember much detail, but it was FUNNY.

We went to SW Wisconsin last week. We toured Taliesin, Frank Lloyd Wright's home and estate. Taliesin actually burned down twice and was rebuilt, so the house we toured was Taliesin 3. It is an amazing place. There was more fall color up north than we have here.
We also went to the House on the Rock. In 1960, Alex Jordan opened his dream house built atop a chimney of rock to the public. Over the years, Alex expanded his vision beyond the House and collected and built on a massive scale. What began as a lofty retreat with an awe-inspiring view has become a spectacular attraction known as The House on the Rock.
We also spent some time in Dubuque, Iowa (mainly lodging and dining).
Dubuque, Iowa. The Mighty Miss (Mississippi)
Dubuque, Iowa The former Star Brewing Company, now home to Stone Cliff Winery. We like going there when we are in the area.

Good morning!
Love all the pics. Thank you.
Will try to find Movie By Death to watch…maybe the library streams it.
Had a horrible "miss Nancy" day Friday. I needed to scream/cry or have a swig of Bombay. Thankfullyy a new puzzle arrived from Amazon to save me…lol

Morning, thanks for posting the pictures, Beth. Glad you all had a nice trip.
Beautiful day going here. Hope there is a good football game on. I used to love those Burma Shave signs. Don't see them anymore.

It wss a pretty day-not a leaf moving until a couple of hours ago it clouded up but still no wind.
Guess it's time to check your tire pressure since it has gotten cooler. Just took down the trash and it says the pressure in two tires is 26 so will fix that tomorrow. Not sure how much they need, maybe 30 or 32. I do know a.big tractor tire only needs 12 lbs. Neither looks low. Guess it's good we have an air compressor.
Saw the little.black cat out toward the barn a while ago. He comes when I call him to eat but won't let me get close. maybe in time. Good night

I'm supposed to check the pressure in my tires???
