Iris, Max is my.oldest boy cat, probably eight or nine. Got his worm medicine on, liquid at the base of his head, got big worm pills down GPs with their food. Have to give each three ccs of probiotics daily and another 2 1/2 pills to Stormy. I wrap the Pills in cheese which they like. How many cats do yoh have now and are they all right?
It's another beautiful day but a bit windy - flag is flying straight out. Figured out how to set clock in car to the right time and not military. Found the classical music channel I had found and lost and got it set.
HB. Wish I could bathe Stormy, but no way would that work. He did get on the scales and weighs 92. I think Sheena weighed 95.. I have to figure out a way for her to get in the SUV or at least get her to let me trim her nails. Stormy need it, too, but I can do his.
Mint, what kind of covid shots have you gotten in the past? I have always gotten Pfizer and am a.bit hesitant to change.
Iris, I'm back in my trouser jeans I was wearing ten years ago but still have six or seven to go. If I could just stay away from crackers. Do you count calories? I just eat a little when I get hungry and am staying away from Pepsi. I drink a Boost almost every day or have a protein drink I make and have begun to drink grape Gatorade and have always drunk lots of water. Last time I lost weight (85 lbs.) it caused cholecystitis, the doctor ssid. That was 30 years ago.
I think I might take a.nap like everyone else is doing.

Judith, it says rapid weight loss can upset your bile chemistry which aggravates gallstones causing cholecystitis. I remember when the doctor was doing the exam I told her about the weight loss and she said that's what caused it. Many or most.people have gallstones but they don't bother them until something upsets the balance. I lost a little over ten pounds a month which was pretty fast. Cholecystitis is painful. I can re!ember stories of little, old women having a gallbladder attack. Not funny at all.
Everything in our body and in nature has a balance which keeps things going well until something upsets the balance. Then we, or nature, pays for it. We need to be careful. I had a lot of stones they said with no problem until I lost weight.

Hello, only 6 are days for my big move to the VA home. I started packing today and it was hard knowing that in 6 days I will be moving permanently.
My wife and I both will have a difficult adjusting me i will be meeting new men and my wife will have to learn to be on her own but I'm sure she be able to do it.
Most of the guys will be Vietnam Veterans like me but most will have been to Vietnam. But I am a Vietnam Era veteran i spent my time state-side or in the Mediterranean I will have stories but not war stories like the other guys.

iris I am resting well at night. It’s very nice to be able to just go to bed and not worry about what’s going on with mom and not receiving calls early in the morning. Best of all though is how she seems to of adjusted to the place. I never dreamed that this would happen and I’m so very thankful.
HB your mom probably would like living in a retirement community of some sort. She would just need to find one that was a fit for her. Assisted-living that my mom is at is a 42 bed facility. I am not seeing anywhere near 42 patients yet so I don’t know exactly how all the patients are. My mom likes to sit down in the lobby and there tends to be about approximately six people that I’m starting to recognize as often being in the lobby with my mom. Most of them seem really pretty out of it . When I say that I don’t mean drugged up. They’re very much awake but they don’t say anything. I do know at least a couple of them can talk. Of course, my mom just likes to talk and somebody listen. She really has no interest in listening to what other people have to say. It’s been that way for a long time. So it doesn’t bother her that those people don’t say anything and she does all the talking. I just hope that she’s not irritating them but if she is, they don’t show it. Your mom would not like it there but sure there are others that would be a good fit for her.

David, I looked into the VA home here at one time, but decided to care for my wife at home.
It is a beautiful facility and even a section where my wife could be with me and I would have help with the dementia. The waiting list was long!

Beth's travels Travel day 3, Cruise day 2
Good evening!
Today was a sea day. We are in the Atlantic Ocean, on our way to Aruba. It will take 2 days of sailing to get there - so another sea day tomorrow. We had breakfast in the buffet; for me that was a green vegetable juice, muesli, fruit and coffee. They called the green drink a "smoothie," but it was just juice. I got to thinking, they probably juice or blenderize the salad greens that were left from the day before - ha! It had very little taste but likely was healthy. After breakfast we went to talks on Aruba and the other places we'll be visiting. We booked shore excursions and explored the ship. I went to the library and checked out a couple of books. I had a massage at the spa this afternoon. After dinner we went to a Whitney Houston tribute show which was very good.
Another sea day tomorrow (Thursday). I hope to swim and go to the gym and read. A quiet day to relax. Aruba Friday.

Beth, it sounds like you all are having a nice, relaxing time.. You needed that after the work of moving How long will you be gone?
David, you will be among friends. There's a special camaraderie among veterans. I saw that every day when I worked at the VA.Hospital. You will be fine and we'll always be here for you.
Mint, I am so happy that your mother is adjusting to AL.You just never know how things will turn out be this has turned out good. Sounds like you're able to relax a lot more and with less worry.
Ron, hope things are going okay with you? How is that new car?
I think I may go in the bedroom and watch a little tv in there. Kind of tired after the trip to the vet and giving meds.

Lorita, I have three remaining cats:
Seven--female polydactyly with seven toes on the front paws; she is a Maine Coon cat, long haired with lots of shedding. She is about 15 or so and still acts like a feral, she is very skittish and doesn't like to be held, thus it is hard for me to comb or brush her.
Adam--male, long haired cat who gets frequent hairballs and throws up, but he is very affectionate and cuddly. He is also about 15 or so. My neighbor had a stroke and could no longer care for him, so she gave him to me.
Sammie--a short-haired male tabby feral that I had trapped, neutered and had planned to release, but he kept coming back to my door and eventually came in and stayed, so I kept him. I found him just before Thanksgiving in 2016, so he is about 8 1/2 years old. He still has his feral ways.
I had a good day today with my travel club in Los Angeles. I'm going to bed now.

Sure enjoy hearing about your travels. I haven't spent a night away from home in years, but I used to travel and enjoy it. Might again when I don't have to be home every night. No more wilderness canoeing trips, I'm afraid, but a cruise would be nice.
Last trip we took was to Savannah GA. Toured some antebellum homes and heard some good music (a music festival was in town, you could just walk down the street and listen). Walked in the Garden of Good and Evil, sat on Forrest Gump's park bench, ate at Paula Dean's restaurant, and made a fool of myself playing a very small role at a dinner theater. DW has no memory of it, but we had fun.
David, you all served whether in a combat zone or, as one of my friends did, guarding the docks in Puerto Rico. You didn't know where you were going when you raised your hand to take the oath, and you didn't get a choice. My father was in line on the dock to get on a ship for the South Pacific in 1943, when an officer came along and said they had too many in the group. "You, you, and you, fall out." Luck of the draw.

I hope you had a great time on your sister trip to Amish country. My MIL loved to travel to Amish country. She liked to buy bulk goods at their stores. I recently bought a book "Amish Peace Simple Wisdom for a complicated world." It is by Suzanne Woods Fisher. I haven't read it yet.
Jo, enjoy your visit with your daughter! I'm sorry you haven't been able to find new versions of your favorite nightgowns. I don't wear night gowns. They ride up and twist around my body when I turn around in bed. I wear leggings and a t shirt in winter to sleep - and I'll just say, less than that in the summer time. Enjoy your time with your daughter! I hope she can help you with some things that need done in your home.
David, everyone I know that goes into the VA homes loves them. I follow the Iowa Veteran's Home, Marshalltown, Iowa, on Facebook. SO MANY wonderful activities, and community members and businesses are very supportive. It's the best life possible for these veterans. I'll be thinking of you and your dear wife. Carl, your trip to Savannah sounds wonderful! I've not been there. I've been to Charleston though. I think there are some similarities. Speaking of Paula Deen, we had a potluck at church Sunday and we have some newer members who moved from SC and FL, and one of the gals brought banana pudding. I hear that is a BIG thing in the south. She said it was P. Deen's recipe. It was delicious. I'll have to look it up when I get home. Happy birthday to you, Carl!
HB, we like Lands' End (and Talbots) too. I have had several of their nice jackets; I think they call them squall jackets. They are so durable. I also like their leggings, sweat pants, t shirts, etc. We don't have a physical store in the area so we order online. They are very good to allow returns if needed. I am glad that your mom is doing better.

Lorita, it's funny you mentioned my new car. Just the other day I was driving, peaceful and all of a sudden the car shouted out; when are we taking another trip. Lol
I had them recaulk my shower yesterday and like a fool I stayed in the house. The sealant wasn't good for my lungs and I could tell it.
David, I've mentioned this before on the front porch, but that was a long time ago. When I received my orders for Vietnam I called home and told my mother. She started crying and I didn't know why. That shows you how much a 17 year old knew.

Ron, so your car likes to travel. Not sure if mine does or not. Hard to believe I have had it almost a year and there are still things to learn about.
Had to call the vet's office this morning about the medications I got yesterday. Some were for both Pyrenees and some for Stormy only so got that done. They both stayed outside last night and are out now. They can't stand heat but love to be outside when it's cool.
The grass in the yard is growing- first grass this mid to late summer. Of course it will freeze next week but so pretty and green after everything being brown.
Mint, what good things did you and your sister find in Amish Country? I bet it was a nice trip. So great you don't need to worry about your mother as much.

Lorita I had J&J for the first shot and Pfizer for the next two. Novavax, was my fourth vaccine. Sorry I missed the question a few days back I see.
I bought a few things for decorating the house for winter. I didn’t buy a lot. This is turning out to be a very expensive month for me so I was cautious. We ate lunch at a small bakery and it was delicious. My sister got creamy, chicken, lemon soup and it was really good. She gave me a little bite. If anyone makes that and would not care to share the recipe, that would be nice. I did look online and I found the recipe but you never know if it’ll be good for sure or not.

lot's of stuff to do today….nothing horrible nothing fun either. Still having problems with my IPad and my Verison internet. All this stuff zooming in the air is just not perfect yet.

Just had to get outside so after Bradley fed I took Sheena and Stormy for a little walk down to the meadow. We kept hearing a truck and finally saw two of the biggest, long trucks I ever saw coming down the road. Somehow they made a 90% turn south and stopped at Carol's birthplace. Really curious about what was in them.
I think I may have found a low place I can back into and maybe get Sheena to walk into the back of the SUV.
Closed the first gate so the girls could get a little grass north of the house. Lifted the gate enough to get a big rock under it so I could raise the gatewheel so it might open and close easier. Now I need to put white !lithium on the hinges. Opened the corral gate and several girls are eating the little grass. Sun is going down and the Beaver super moon is up. Be sure to look at it.

This evening I realized I. Gave the worm.tablets to the GPs with their food. They said to give it and wait a couple of hours to feed them. So called Mike and he said it would be ok.Load off my mind. Why didn't I remember that until today?
Found out what was in those trucks -- chicken litter! He's going to have it spread on the section east of me. We've used it on our meadow in the past and it really works. Good fertilizer for a couple of years but smell not so good and there are lots of feathers. Hope the wind doesn't blow from the east.
Beth, I'm watching Wheel of Fortune and one.of the contestants just won a trip to Aruba! Looks beautiful.

Today I drove 30 miles to another senior center. The Movie Guy was showing Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, one of my favorite movies. I really wanted to see it again, so I drove all that way.
Then, this evening, I got to see the International Space Station when it flew overhead, it was illuminated by the bright harvest moon. That reminds me, while I was driving, I saw a Tesla Cybertruck. It looks like something from outer space!
Tomorrow, I will rest, and maybe catch up on some chores.

Butch and Sundance was probably the best western ever made. Women love it too, maybe because Paul Newman and Robert Redford starred in it. Worth the trip!
Thanks for the birthday wishes, friends. It turned out better than I expected. I got a call from my son, E-cards from two of my former coworkers, and a snail mail card from a friend and her cats. Got a haircut and ate a slice of Italian creme cake with coconut icing. I have had worse birthdays.
Beth, I have never been to Charleston but would like to. When I planned my trip, I heard Charleston asked who my grandfather was, and Savannah asked what I wanted to drink. So I went to Savannah first.

Good morning everyone!
Welcome to my "travel blog." It's Travel Day 5, Cruise Day 4. So far we had embarkation day (got on the ship and began sailing) and 2 sea days. There are many activities on the ship; something for everyone. I spent my sea days eating (of course!), getting a massage (once) and going to the gym (once). I'll go back to the gym when I get a chance. It felt good to move my body. Today is Aruba day. We're going on a tour called "Best of Aruba and Beach Break." I'll come back later or tomorrow and tell you about it. I am taking photos on my iPhone, but cellular service is poor so I am not able to post any of them yet. I might need to post the pictures after we get home.
