HB it is great that you have those sewing skills. I can do simple things but not clothing and alterations, etc.

Has been cold, windy and damp here too, but not a lot of rain which we do need. We did get a little though.

I visited mom yesterday and it went pretty well.

In bed watching the morning news shows. Did any.o f you all see the football game last night? They had a big win over #7 Alabama. Now they can go to a bowl game. Eagle, Chiefs today.

The wind is awful, so strong you have to lean into it to walk against it. Guess it will blow like this all day.

Found three, pretty, wool blazers I used to wear in the back of the closet. Had forgotten about them. They feel dusty because they were in the closet when they replaced the floor and it was dusty.in the room. Also the shoulders of some of the other things are the same and will need to be washed. I need to get a clothes rack to hang heavy things and get them out of the closet. Problem is finding a place to put it.

I will have two or three weeks of trash for them to pick up tomorrow since they thought the road was too bad to drive on for two weeks. I'm afraid the wind will do a job on it. Only have a 50 gallon barrel so guess we'll see.

I had the mums on the porch last night and something ate most of the yellow ones. Do wish I knew what it is- thinking maybe a raccoon because the pot is tall. There are lots of tiny buds but doubt there is time for them to bloom. I'll plant them and hope for blooms next year.

I'm on my third cup of tea so guess I'll stop and finish it. Back later.

One side of the closet is emptier than it was. The other side is mostly.blouses. That side is next.

Hope all of you have a good nights rest. See you tomorrow. Need to.put everything on Chargers tonight.

I hope all of my friends here are doing well. My DH is still doing pretty good. I have not been on here for awhile. Both my husband and myself needed our teeth pulled and dentures. Now that is taken care of I will check in with my friends more often.

    Hi, Mimi.

It's 70 degrees and breezy here in Springfield, MO. It was 40 a few days ago and will be 40 again by Thursday. The National Weather Service says we have to most variable weather in the US. Up and down, you never get used to anything. When people who are visiting or just moved here ask, I tell them "It's just like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get."

Today would have been my 30th wedding anniversary. We divorced after five years, he is now deceased. I still think about the good times and the love we had for each other every day.

    Good Morning Everyone!

The countdown to Thanksgiving has begun… so we are having around 30 folks for a 2pm late lunch, early supper. The only thing left to shop for is the flowers which will come from the Publix market.

Granddaughter sent a text last evening to ask if I can "watch" the 6-year-old great-granddaughter on Wednesday. (school is out) She loves to "help" in the kitchen, so I will have to set her up with an activity that I can monitor but not really have my hands on…. maybe some cookie dough at her little table with her kitchen "tools". It won't really matter what the cookies look like, just that she will be able to present them as her own. And maybe a craft… I'll have to research today.

Weather has been sunny but windy. Our front pond remains empty ( no rain) and DH has decided it needs to be dug out deeper. He will use the dirt to fill in holes in the pasture and to make a pad for a carport he intends to put up. He is a firm believer in a raised dirt pad, covered in gravel to prevent water pooling. That man (I love him) can come up with more reasons to use that backhoe than Carters has liver pills. lol

I'm reading every day but things are so busy, I haven't taken time to write. But I'm here. Hope you have a good day 🤗

Goodmorning , i finally slept through the night without any sleeping aid. I must be getting used to living at the VA home.

I can't wait for Wednesday when my wife will take me home for Thanksgiving there will be about 15 people. Some I haven't seen in 2 years. My wife will not be cooking her 3 daughters will do everything (this will be hard for my wife to sit by and not cook).

    Happy Monday.

Iris— I think mom's OK out on her own for now. She proved that making the call to customer service which contacted the driver and addressed the screw up.

Carl— I bet your wife's mac & cheese is amazing. Onion flakes or grated onion elevate pretty much everything. I might try that for the next batch I make.

I'm comfortable with TNCs like Uber and Lyft. Maybe it's a city thing. Maybe it's that the cab drivers here don't seem any different. This isn't London where they're steeped in The Knowledge. The "vetting" for cab drivers in my state isn't much more rigorous than Lyft or Uber. PA requires 18 hours of driver education which covers a range of regulations, customer service, etc. and not so much driving to drive in certain cities. Oddly limo drivers have medical clearance in addition. All do background checks.

It's interesting. When DS car was in the shop, I took an Uber home from the dentist. When the ride was confirmed and they sent details on my driver— car make/model, driver's name/photo, etc., it also noted that my driver was deaf/hearing loss.

Jerilynn— You're a saint to take on babysitting the day before hosting hordes of people. My one friend who is a grandmother was lamenting her only grandson's maturity and that fact that he opts to stay home alone on his days off from school now that he's in middle school.

Lorita— 6 1/2 bottles of drain cleaner? Yikes. That must've been some clog. In my community, things like that are collected a couple times a year at a hazardous waste collection. It's usually a drive-thru with "stations" for different kinds of waste materials. Your trash hauler might know if, where and when these happen near you. The DIY sites suggest pouring it down the drain and flushing your pipes with water.

I'm just about done the robot PJs. I even got through the fly without pulling my hair out which is an improvement. I had to make a quick trip to Joann for some elastic and buttons, so I brought mom along. She bought some Christmas throw pillows and enjoyed poking around. I picked up some fabric to make 2 new tree skirts. I got a silver for my fancy tree and some cheesy licensed Barbie cotton. I wanted to get a 1" pink gingham like the iconic dress from the movie but they were out. Oh well. I also bought some individual ornaments as gifts as they were "BPG3". One is a mermaid that's very similar to my NIL's business logo. I bought paint pens to color it to match the mermaid that is his nose art. So $4 ornament and $25 for the pens. SMH.

Today mom sees her cardiologist at 1pm. My cousin may be at the house when we get home. They'll keep her entertained through the week which is great.

Morning, HB, the thing is I don't remember us using that drain stuff at all. Guess we did and would forget we had it and would buy more. Anyway it's taken care of. Cold with a North wind this morning, and cloudy. It was over 70 yesterday, wind chill right now is in the 30s. Tomorrow is supposed to be some better so will go in and get my covid shot tomorrow. Hope everyone is well toðay. Ron, how are you ?

JeriLynn glad you were doing OK. Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving.

David love how are you and your family can do that. Wish I could do that for my mom but sadly I can’t. My sister and I both wish it was different.

Think my house mom lived in may go on market Wednesday. I dread if I have to tell her. So far, she’s just asked me if anyone’s living in the house and I told her no. I will have to tell her if she directly asks me or wants to know if anyone lives there. Hopefully her reaction wont be too bad.

Mint, we had to go through the same thing with my sister's house when she went into assisted living. She kept asking about it and we told her something was wrong with the ceiling and it was being worked on. She was wanting to go home and that was the only thing we could think of to say. This went on for quite a while until she quit asking and settled in it adjusted to AL. It can be a problem.

.Iris, I'm taking a cue from you a few day ago- still in my gown and robe and may stay in them all day. How is Seven this morning? Glad you have memories of good times in your marriage. That keeps us going.

Watching QVC, Barefoot Dreams. Clothes have gotten so expensive. They have a pair of ribbed knit pants for $110 which they said was $31 off regular price. Does anyone remember clothes from Maggie Sweet on HSN?

JeriLynn, sounds like you have things under control for Thanksgiving. I don't know how you do it.

He probably does enjoy it. There is something satisfying about getting a t-post in the ground, then others and then the barbed wire. Hard work for sure but when you have fences, it is a never ending job to keep it in repair. We used to do that but not now. I have good perimeter and cross fences built just a few years ago. There is still a quarter mile that needs rebuilt. Mike and I went together to built new fences on each side of the quarter mile driveway, looks good and I have gotten lots of compliments on it.

I just learned that some big company is trying to put in a big wind farm around part of the big lake in my county. People are up in arms about it. Did you know ,(I didn't ) that they can install one iof those huge turbines within a quarter mile of a house? Imagine how disruptive that would be. I hope they can stop it.

Years ago we saw a truck hauling one blade in town and it was a block long. I know they are harmful to.birds and I would imagine not good for livestock or the land because of roads. Always something. They wouldn't be able to do that around here unless they used imminent domain.

We're going to have our first freeze tonight. I had the pot or of mums on the porch last night and this morning there were two yellow blooms on it. Yesterday there were lots of yellow ones and probably 50 purple ones. I think it may be Rusty although I haven't seen him.

Sleep well tonight. Ron, how are you?

Todd sent pictures he took of Sarah and she had changed so much it was hard to recognize her. I wouldn't have if I hadn't known it was her. So sad and he is so depressed. We know.how that is. Good.night.

Lorita, Seven seems to be doing all right, even without the gabapentin for pain management. I, on the other hand, have been having a headache every day since I had the whooping cough. The cough is resolving but the headache is still here. I've been taking aspirin, which does help. I have not been able to get much done at home b/c of the headache. Today I managed to do a laundry.

I managed to submit the info on my water line. I don't know what they needed a photo of my water meter for unless it was to make me look into the hole instead of just telling them what material the water line was.

First, I took the photo on a cloudy day when i could see the screen on my phone. The first day I tried, the glare was such that I didn't get a photo because I couldn't see the buttons. Second, I dialed up the web site on my phone when DW was asleep, so I could think without answering questions about what I was doing and how it was coming. I thought of sending a photo of me giving them the bird instead of a water meter, but my adult self prevailed. I'm pretty sure the instructions came from EPA anyway, and they are just complying with regulations.

My disabled son is coming to our house for Thanksgiving. He and DW are a problem when they are together, but it is his 50th birthday as well as Thanksgiving, and I can't just leave him at the group home with a few staffers and a few residents who have nowhere to go on holidays. DS is the envy of many of his peers because he gets frequent visits and outings with his father. Some of these people have no one who cares.

Lorita, I've never built a fence but I repaired some when my grandfather was farming. Driving staples into bois d'arc posts in cold weather is no treat, but it had to be done.

My FIL, a general contractor, hired some men to build a fence for a client and they found the rocky ground hard to dig. So, they dug until it got hard, set the posts, and shortened them with a chain saw so they were all the same height. Of course, the shallow posts soon fell over. Never could figure out why they did that since they were being paid by the hour.

Morning! I've been reading daily, but just a hermit right now and looking for the end of our Holiday period. I wish each and everyone of my front porch friends a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ive been invited by several family and friends to have Thanksgiving with them, but prefer to stay home.

I noticed in a note on myhealth.vet that I am being put in a program called CCICM with a CAN score of 90. Had no idea what that was until I researched it.

CCICM stands for Care Coordination and Integrated Case Management, a healthcare initiative at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The program's goals include: Improving the quality of healthcare for veterans, Prioritizing the well-being of veterans, Enhancing access to care, Improving health outcomes, and Enhancing social and emotional well-being.

CCICM works to achieve these goals by:

    • Assigning lead coordinatorsVeterans with complex health care needs or who frequently use VA care are assigned a lead coordinator. This coordinator helps veterans manage their care by acting as a point of contact for multiple providers.
    • Collaborating with community partnersCCICM engages with community partners and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.

A VA CAN score of 90 indicates

a very high risk of hospitalization or death within a specified time period (usually 90 days) for a Veteran

, meaning they are considered to be at the highest level of risk compared to other Veterans in the system, with 99 being the absolute highest possible score on the Care Assessment Need (CAN) scale.

Thanks, Mint. I've decided to have fun Thursday, just as I used to decide to have fun on business trips that were otherwise a drag. I have played the strong, confident, cheerful role so many years I believe it myself most of the time. Hope your house sale goes well.

Ron, hermit away. I'm glad you have a choice and could go out if you wanted, but you sure don't have to if you would rather stay home.
