I'm happy for you too,David. What a nice surprise.
Mint, I know you miss your mother being home. When my mother had to go to the NH I missed her being here close on the farm even though it was for her own safety.
Stormy and I just got back from checking out the persimmon tree. All that were on the ground are gone and most of the ones on the tree. Those left are still hard. Guess the opossums are having a feast.
Then we went to the mailbox, then to the south.pasture to check the girls. We have four little, black white faced babies so wanted to see them. Saw two so drove up to where they feed and saw the others. Billy had his head in a hayring eating hay. Looks like there will be more babies soon to join the eleven already here.
They.put tags in the baby's ears and they look so big on the babies. Got home and while Stormy was in the Gator trimmed his.nails. I so wish Sheena would let me trim hers. My fault I.guess because I didn't start doing it when I.got her at a year old.
We got really warm while we were out. It is 64 right now. Felt.good to be out with the girls. Also opened a couple of gates in the.corral and tied a couple of cattle panels to the fences they had left laying on the ground when they worked them this past weekend.
Thought I would get an afternoon nap but it's too late now. Enjoy the rest of the day - to be much colder tomorrow.

Lorita…Winda says if you leave food out the "big" animal (wolf?) will return looking for food and when there is none and you go outside it will think you are food. Neither she nor I would remotely consider living in the hinderlands…lol
David…how nice to have lunch guests
Mint…so sad when a friend dies.

Lorita,
Yes, it made me sad to take Rambo and Cookie to Mr. Roy. I won't know when he takes them to market. So it a little easier. But I know they were rattled being moved. Mr. Roy goes to church with us and he buys/sells/trades goats and sheep all the time. He tells me I have "pets" for goats/sheep because I get attached to them and because I feed them cookies. LOL The goats DH got from him are really pretty. I'll try to get some pictures if this awful wind will die down.
Still didn't finish my tree today. Oh well, if I wake up tomorrow, I have to go to town to pick up a rifle I found for DH and maybe I can finish the tree after I get back. All gifts are either on the bed awaiting wrapping or en route from Amazon.
Time to get some supper on the table for DH. Rest well everyone.

Lorita, yes, I did have a good nap! It's puzzling that I can sleep uninterrupted and feel rested during the day, even sitting up in a chair, yet I sleep so poorly during the night. But I read this might be due to fluid retention, so I restarted wearing compression hose in the daytime. I'll see how this night goes.
Mint, I am so glad that your mom is doing well at AL!

Lorita, that Charger reminds me of the 60's song "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena." She had a pretty garden of white gardenias, and a "big mean shiny red super stock Dodge." I had a 1969 Plymouth Satellite that would pass anything but a gas station, but I don't drive fast enough to enjoy one now. I think the Charger has been discontinued, so you'd have to buy a used one.
David, you're getting more company than I am. Good for you!

58 degrees F Wednesday, north wind coming in tonight, wind chill of 8 degrees by dawn Thursday. Highs in the 50's again on the weekend. Weather here is like a box of chocolates.
Iris, my sleep schedule is totally messed up. My wife sleeps more than she is awake, so I go to bed with her at about 8 PM, sleep 3-4 hours, and then am wide awake for hours (which is why I'm writing this at 2 AM). Then I go back to sleep around 4 AM and wake when she does. Hope you can get back to sleeping at night.

Good morning Carl…. it seems we keep the same sleep schedule, LOL

Good morning, JeriLynn. At least we have an excuse for not soaring with the eagles. It's hard to soar with the eagles during the day when you hoot with the owls all night.
When my father couldn't sleep, he would drink a cup of coffee and go to bed. I don't know how it worked, but it did, for him anyway. I've never tried it.

Was 18F when i got up at 4:30 , 22 now. Has snowed about all morning but not a lot of accumulation.
Did find a tree on the property behind me had fell on my fence during night. Wasn't a huge tree but not small either. Did a little damage. With my garden fork i was able to lift it up and roll it off of the fence. Thankful that I was able to manage that.Have a safe trip Judith

Morning , cold as kraut here with a strong North wind. My sleep was interrupted last night, too. Let the GPs out before bedtime and Sheena wouldn't come in. I woke up at 2:30 to get her in but she resisted, just walked away so I went out in the yard to get her. Then, the cats were noisy. Sammy rattles the bathroom doorknob when he wants in, so sleep was off and on.
Carl, your weather and ours is so alike. It is like a box ofb chocolates indeed. I've had a Mustang and a Cougar the first year they came out but was in my twenties then. I almost bought the Charger when I got the Equinox but it was two years old so warranty was half gone and I couldn't get them down enough. We were $2,000 apart but did drive it home overnight while they worked on my PU and it was fun to drive. When I went back to the dealer a week later for something it had been sold. It had pretty low ground clearance for my dirt roads so the Equinox is better.
Judith, our yard is fenced with a 5.5 ft. Chain link fence so no worry about that wolf in the yard. However, there is a big one in my area. I hear him howl at night when the coyotes are yelping when they go out to hunt at night. I have seen him and others have told me they had seen him on their way up to my house. Looks like a big gray one, really pretty.
When Gary came to fix my sink Monday he said he saw a roadrunner when he was coming up the drive. I saw it when I was coming home Tuesday and he or another one was on my porch a Couple of years ago. Sandy reminded me that I posted his picture. All kinds of animals around. Haven't seen any wild hohs in a couple of years, thank goodness. There has been a black panther around but haven't seen him. There were dozens of beavers on the section east of us that Mike bought but I think Toad got rid of most of them. Hated that but they were ruining the ponds. Better stop and finish my hot tea. Girls are south of the house out of the wind. Guess the GPs are out there, too.

back….it took 50 minutes to return the iPad and I was the only customer and it took two people…Staples store has closed…back to Amazon…lol

Our Staples store closed several years ago. I really Liked it even though it was 30+ miles away. There is an Office Depot but just not the same.
Ron, how are you?. You need to keep us up to date. The holidays are always hard but try and remember it is just another day. I don't watch Christmas shows and don't decorate except for my little Santa Claus. Don't n get caught up in the.holidays and it will be easier. At least that's what I do.
Cows are bawling so they're being fed. They know the sound of the feedtruck so bawl when they hear it. They went up to the MH, then back down here and then back. Maybe they will figure out the best early to to it eventually to make it easier for the girls.

Hello I'm so tall 6ft 5 inches the VA had to order me a bigger bed and it's supposed to be here today. I hope so so I don’t have to sleep in the fetal position much longer. I will let you know if it actually arrives today.

Goodnese, David, you are a tall drink of water. Really hope you get your bed today.
Mint, be careful fooling with trees, they can whip back and get you. Nice you were able to get it off your fence.
There are trees all along the north side of the farm but one electric company sneaked in and sprayed them. Many have died and are falling on my fences. Years ago an ice storm had broken done trees and Charles and I were looking at them and a limb fell and hit me on my shoulders. Knocked me down but wasn't hurt, just sore the next day.
Really cold and windy here today but sunny. To be in the upper teens in the morning.

Lorita l I am one tall drink of water (this is not the first time I've been called this). Yes my bed just came i it's 84 inches long. Here's a pic.

The man standing behind me at the post office must have been at least 6'8". When I was in Paris, I was surprised to see so many very tall women.
Carl, I have read that biphasic sleep used to be the norm in the days before electricity. I don't see how, because it is very dark without electricity, and there was nothing to do at night except sleep. Anyway, I believe the compression hose did help me, because I had to get up only 2x and I slept for 8 hours and I feel rested today.

Good night, Beth, sleep tight

Glad you feel better, Iris. Thanks for the information. Maybe I sleep this way because it is natural for me and this is the first time in my life I am not ruled by a clock.
People used to have big families before electricity and effective birth control. Maybe, in a tent full of kids and hungry babies, nobody got to sleep eight hours straight.
David, that's a pretty good bed. My brother got one of those after his back injury so he could sleep in a semi-reclining position, very comfortable to him.

Good morning,
Up at 1 am. But, went to bed at 7pm because I was so tired from getting up at 2 yesterday, lol.
It was sunny but windy, so therefore cold yesterday. Supposed to be cold today/tomorrow with temps in the single digits. I had to be in town all day yesterday but as I left the driveway I could see both Jake and Lilly running and playing in the newly opened pastures. DH called me later in the day to tell me they were wading in the pond! He has completed fencing to the back pond and this is their first exposure. Imagine 2 100 pound dogs soaking wet!
I think I finished my gift shopping yesterday. Did a little more on the tree. Should have the main areas decorated by the weekend. I don't plan to have a big dinner for Christmas, but it looks like I will host an afternoon for gift exchange? Plans are up in the air. December and January birthday cards are stuffed and done. I try to stay a month ahead but don't always succeed.
My DH wants me to make one of his Mother's recipes. She was born in Germany and made these handpies called Bierocks. Ground beef, cabbage, onion stuffed into bread dough and baked. I found a recipe that uses frozen bread dough, so I guess this weekend I will give it a try. His sister has no clue about her Mother's methods, so she's no help. I'm not very good with dough. Too heavy handed I guess.
I have to climb onto the dining room table today to hang the greenery. BBL

Good morning, JeriLynn.
Bierocks are delicious. I had a friend many years ago whose wife made those or something very like, and they were wonderful. She was French Canadian and hailed from Greenwich MA so I don't know where she learned how to cook German food, but it was great. I'll bet they'd be good with kale instead of cabbage too. I have found that substituting kale for cabbage improves several things.
My brother's widow is from Germany, but she was from a prominent family and can't cook worth a darn, so I can't ask her how to cook German food. Apparently, you don't have to learn to cook if you're the mayor's daughter. She keeps the cleanest house you ever saw though. She calls it "scrubby Dutch."
Let us know how the Bierocks work out.

Good morning
Bierocks sound good, let us know how they turn out.
David looks like your bed has all the bells and whistles.
Lorita thank you for cautioning me about the tree. I tried to be aware. Know a tree can do a lot of damage quickly.

Mint,it is very comfortable. It's an extra wide bed and I can raise , lower it and i can adjust it to be like a chair so I don't have to get of bed to watch tv.

Yes it's very comfortable.
