good morning everyone
I enjoyed the picture, Sandy. We all live in such a different worlds.0 -
Roos!!!! I cannot imagine looking out to my pond and seeing those! Awesome pictures and the paintings are adorable! I know the kids love getting those.
I fell asleep during the Chiefs' game but see they won. Congrats!

Good morning all
Thanks for sharing the pics Sandy. I found the kangaroo pic very calming. Loved your drawing. Mint you are so correct, we do all live in such a different world.
JeriLynn you had to be tuckered out to fall asleep during the game. I'm glad your home safely. Now, to deal with everything.
Lorita the game certainly kept us on the edge of our seats. Did you hear us cheering!! Whenever I cheer, Madison starts 'singing!' She's good for us. Two weeks to get ready for the Super Bowl.
HB I hope your mom is discharged today. Or at least a different roommate. Banging the phone would push me over the edge.
Let's be safe everyone.

Good morning.
Zetta— The cat under the bed is mom's ironically named cat Sugar. She's a wonderful companion for mom but doesn't really like most people. Her baseline is "jerk", but she's been sick herself so she's extra spicy. The hospital does have people bring in therapy dogs; we met an Italian Greyhound in the ER once. He looked as if he was wearing a Christmas tree skirt.
Lorita— The result of the games yesterday does present a dilemma for Jason Kelce. Which team will he be rooting for? Unlike a lot of professional athletes, he's really embraced Philadelphia.
Sandshee— I cannot imagine looking out the window and seeing that view. Wow. I love your little paintings— they're delightful.

Discharge later pending PICC procedure.
Mom got turfed to a regular telemetry unit last night around 6. This means less attention than she has gotten used to and she is as cranky as I have ever seen her despite being away from the loud woman and her noisy family. Mom had the temerity to complain that she hadn't gotten dinner the night before nor breakfast when I spoke to her at 8:30 this morning. I brought her a pint of locally made ice cream around 3:30 yesterday which she scarfed down, so I am sure she wasn't hungry for one of the hospital's low-salt soft-bite meals. And breakfast hadn't come yet because she'd just ordered it.
She was also upset that she hadn't been informed of when she'd be having her procedure. Her chart says 2pm, but inpatients are sometimes slotted in whenever there's an opening. I'm hoping to finish my appointment with DH and then get to the hospital when she's back in her room. I have not seen her discharge plan hit the chart yet.
Her friend started calling her again but not saying anything. I noticed the friend had been posting on Facebook over the weekend which leads me to believe she's not actually at death's door. This is wonderful news.

The critters are wonderful as are the Kangaroos…

Morning, everyone, pretty day here, still cold but warming up so the roads are soft except where tires have been rolling. Seems like it's always something with the dirt roads.
Sandy, those pictures are so pretty and serene. The kangaroos seem to be grazing like our cows do. Are they gentle enough for a person to get close to them? Your drawings are so good, I know the kids enjoy them, too.
Stormy and I went to the mailbox to mail some letters and saw a white flatbed coming down the road. The girls had been grazing on the other side of the pond but when they heard the truck hurried back to the feeding area. They know the sound of the feed trucks - sadly, the truck didn't stop - not feed day. Do wish I.could see the newest baby.
JetriLynn, I bet you were out early this morning with all the babies. Hope all is well. Enjoy the day.

Hello.
JeriLynn. I'm glad you had a safe trip home 🏡 I bet you have hugged all your critters. Now it's time for you to get some rest, so you can unwind.
Sandy. I loved all those pictures, especially the one of the kangaroos. I have the same question that Lorita, had. How close will they let you get to them?
HR. Sorry to hear your mom is still in the hospital. Hopefully she goes home, today. Hospitals are, a good place to be,when needed. I was in one a few years ago, just for a overnight stay, when morning came I was ready to go home, and they all knew that!!
The weather has cooled a bit, here in Arizona. The heat is not too bad, I stay in most of the time, anyway.
Take care all, Hugs Zetta

Beautiful day here, no wind ( put a mark on the wall), warm enough you didn't have to wear two costs when you weǹt out and sunny. Weather is predicting temps in the high 60s this weekend. GPs have stayed out quite a lot today. Going to.be warm tomorrow so they can stay out more.
I have been lazy today but did get out the book where I keep receipts of things I can deduct on taxes. My CPA retired so need to find someone else, hopefully in the town where my doctor is.
Zetta, glad your weather is cooling down - ours is going to warm up but with quite a !it of rain. Are you close to where the saguaro cacti grow?
Good night, everyone.

HB - Just knowing that that coloring book is still out there makes me happy. And so cool that your DH used to work around there! Fingers crossed with your mom.
I've only seen fireflies once - in a DC suburb. One of my Burning Man camp mates got married there and the reception lasted long enough that the fireflies came out. At first I had no idea what I was even seeing.
JeriLynn - Glad you're all home safe and sound. That baby goat with your great granddaughter is so very cute.
Carl46 - Yes! Those photos are very romantic goth. :)
Sandyshe - that's a lot of kangaroos! One of my online pals (who has sadly passed away) lived in Brisbane and used to post photos of birds. He was quite good at it. I think I'd still be able to pick out rainbow lorikeets, butcher birds, and noisy miners in a line up. Hopefully I'll get to Australia and New Zealand some day. Love your drawings!
Zetta - I'm glad the weather has cooled down a bit for you.
The weather in my neck of the woods is —- cold. My weather app is showing snow on Monday. Here's hoping that changes!

Good morning! I will be at the VA most of the day; 8 bone scan, 11 ct scan of chest abd 1 primary care nurse. I received a call yesterday that I have been approved for 24/7 oxygen and will take a couple of days to process. That want help me today, but my nurse coordinator had told me to wait in my car and she will get a wheelchair and come get me. I can always stop and rest a little and make it on my own. I hate being treated like a broken down old man!

good morning
HB hope you And your mom have a good day. I know this is hard I’ve been there.
Ron, praying for you today that you will have the strength and the help that you need.0 -
Good morning all.
That's quite a day Ron. But I guess it beats doing all those visits as separate trips. I hope you get good news.
The discharge went sideways. It sounds as if somebody in the discharge team dropped the ball. The PICC got scheduled, but they didn't reach out to the specialty pharmacy or the infusion supply/support company. Mother had already had a massive meltdown before learning this. They hastily transferred her to a lower level of care Sunday night, alarmed her bed and placed her phone and call button out of reach. She was instructed to call for assistance if she needed to use the bathroom. When an aide finally came in, she escorted mom to the bathroom and asked her "number one or two?". Mom unleashed on her with a fury I haven't seen since the Great PT Incident of 2017 which earned her a sitter from the pastoral department. There was a terse line in her progress notes in which the hospitalist wrote "I discussed the overnight events with nursing…" Hmmm.
Another chuckle from her discharge planning notes is the mention of her living with her spouse (she's widowed) and having support from "Children and extended family". Who are these other people?
Here's hoping today goes better.

Good morning.
Ron I'm glad your getting "one stop shopping" and all of the appointments are together. Let them help you. By the end of the day you will be worn out.
HB I just had to chuckle at your comment "who are these other people?" Mom's getting amped up.
I don't know why I have an appointment for DH @ 9:30. What was I thinking? I've been trying to move him along, to which he looked at me & said "who made this appointment?" I thought of you HB!
Let's be safe everyone.

This feels like the beginning of an "I can't think about that today, I'll think about that tomorrow" day… The frost was so heavy this morning it looks like a layer of snow out there. It's supposed to warm up later so I'm going to stay inside until it does. It's muddy and wet out there. DH is headed to the barn now.
He fixed the fence where Jake got out. Excessive rain had allowed a corner post/gate to move just enough for him to get between and out.
Moving dogs and goats to different pastures by necessity today since we now have 16 Nannies and 9 babies. Dogs are still not liking the babies. They haven't hurt them but they pin them down if one happens to get in their area. Not a good thing, but we will keep working with them. I feel like I need to have the dogs actually witness a birth with me and be able to talk them thru the experience. Not sure how to manage that since the goats do not cooperate with a schedule when they kid, lol. "I'll think about that tomorrow".
Granddaughter and boyfriend are still with us. That's ok. She's better but I feel better to have eyes on her. Dinner is challenging as she is vegetarian, he only eats green beans as a vegetable🙄. I did introduce him to roasted fingerling potatoes and carrots last night. He was amazed, lol. And he ate. So there's a win.
Ron and HB, thinking of you today and hoping for smooth sailing. BBL, have a good day everyone.

Morning, cool and sunny. Ron, another day at the VA but good several things will get done today. Does the VA still give meal tickets when you're there at noon? That was always a good thing Gor patients. Hope all goes well.
Waiting for deliveries from Chewy and WM. Wanted to get those before the rain tomorrow. GPs are outside and seem okay- really enjoying being outside in the sun. Will have to get pain meds and Probiotics before long. I have an appt. Monday for routine blood Monday but with all the flu around, may postpone. Oklahoma has the second highest number of flu cases in the Nation. Five people have already passed away.
JeriLynn, if I had those babies I would just sit and watch them like I have done with calves. Do you think your GPs are trying to protect the kids?
Doing some laundry so better check on it. Washing a new pair of jeans they said to wash because of the dye. Do you all wash new clothes before wearing them? I don't because I like the idea of new things.
Weather just said it is going to be 70 degrees on Ground Hog Day!

Hello Porch Friends
Lorita. Yes we live right in with all, the Saguaro Cactus, the name of the street, my DDs house is on, is Saguaro, Drive. I will try to enclose Cactus, pictures later, when she gets off of work. I don't blame you for staying in, with the flu going around. The only time I wash, new cloths, is if they are stiff, I don't like stiff, next to my skin. I only ware, T shirts or sweat shirts, and sweat pants, and they are always soft.
Ron. You have a real busy day ahead of you. Please don't turn down any help that your offered. If you shy away from help, then you might become, that broken down old man, sooner than you want. Please, take care of yourself.
HB. I'm glad your mom, stands up for herself, and your helping her, be strong. It sounds like the hospital, might be understaffed. Hopefully today is the day, she gets to go home.
JeriLynn. Are your dogs not used to being around the babies? Could they be jealous of them?
I've got Poppy Seed, muffins in the over, and the house smells so good. I'm not like you all, that make things from scratch, mine come right, from the box.
Take care all, Hugs Zetta

Lorita - 70 degrees on Ground Hog day! I'm so jealous! We have snow predicted for that day.
HB - I hope you and your mom have a better day today, and hopefully she gets to come home soon.
I also got a smile out of the "who are these other people?" moment. I had a few of those moments when dealing with Peggy's doctors. You gotta laugh.
Ron - I hope all goes well with you today!
JeriLynn - I'm having that day today as well! I'm willing myself to get stuff done today though. I'm glad your granddaughter is doing better! I cast no stones toward her boyfriend about food. I'm a notorious picky eater myself - I've gotten better over the years, but people teasing me about food is a thing. 🙂 Things like mayonnaise, sour cream, eggplant, etc., don't happen in my world.
Nothing exciting happening in the chilly PNW right now. Last night I did my usual Monday night thing - I virtually attended my old San Francisco goth club, Death Guild. When the pandemic hit and we all had to stay home, the guy who runs DNA Lounge (where Death Guild is held) made the club accessible to all of us at home. Now there are cameras in the club (mostly on the stage), and he created a chat online, so everyone can talk to each other. So I go every Monday night, listen to music and talk to friends. It's really kind of cool and it's great for community. I will also add that if anyone had told me I'd be going to any kind of a club (virtually or in person) in my 60s, I'd have laughed at them. And yet, here I am.
Late this afternoon, I'll do my standing Tuesday activity - hosting an hour long online chat with music. I already have my set put together - the musical theme for today will be dark psytrance. Psytrance isn't my favorite genre, but others like it, so I include it. I change the music every week. Sometimes it's psytrance sometimes goth/industrial, sometimes prog rock, motown, and sometimes even disco. I still love disco.
Okay, back to work.

Sorry I haven't posted lately but I have been busy trying to get all my appointments at the VA and it's been difficult. I have them confirmed with an aid to go with me and at the last minute all of a sudden they have no one to go with me. I am not allowed to go myself because of my Dementia.

Good night, everyone. Sleep tight.

I don't wash all new clothes, but I would wash jeans and anything else that appears to have stiffeners to make them look good in the package at the store. In 6th grade I was given new jeans to wear to the first day of school, and they were stiff as a board. They chafed my groins, and it was so hot in early September that I perspired and made the dye run. I had blue tattoos for months where the dye ran into the open wounds.
One of my great-grandfathers didn't like his overalls washed at all because it faded them. Grandma would steal them and wash them while he slept. Since he raised corn with horse-drawn plows and raised hogs and milked cattle, his overalls needed a wash now and again. This was before my time, but I have always been amused at the thought of his overalls leaned against the wall of his bedroom like rake handles.

Got my alert pendant and lanyard today. It has fall detection, so it calls me if it detects a fall, and a button I can push if I need help. The system has the code to my garage door opener so first responders can get in without breaking in and has the information that a PWD is in the home who will need care if I do. I guess I'm officially an old man now.

Carl, it's almost certain that we're all officially old now. 😄

Good morning
Lorita I hope you got a good night sleep.1 -
Morning,
I'm cheating today and using frozen dough to make a loaf of bread for dinner tonight. Haven't decided exactly what will go with it except the fridge is full of food that needs to be eaten. So some kind of leftovers mash up. I do have some potatoes that I can make into potato cakes and I still have pork chops.
I didn't get much done yesterday because: it was sunny and I was lazy. So instead of housework or cleaning out the RV or putting away clothes, I took Lorita's advise and spent part of the day playing with baby goats, lol. The Mamas are so funny. They watch me pick up their babies, come over to sniff them in my arms and then go off to graze close by. The new twins are adorable. I didn't take my phone with me, but I'll get pictures today for you. Both boys. I think Buster and Bubba will be their names. AND, most exciting: I got the 3 newest Mamas to come eat out of my hand. Gigi, Big Red and Fuzzy followed me all around the barn and small pasture. I really need to get some work done today, so just a quick visit will have to do. And, I think we are going to look at some RVs today so have to fit that in.
OK, I'm up to get quietly busy since no one else gets up at Darkthirty in the morning. Have a good day. HB and Ron, thinking of you. Carl, glad you got the fall alert system. Mint, I see you just posted so I have to click and see what you are up to today. GiGi, you should come visit me in the summer for lightning bugs over the pasture and pond. Beth, I'm ready to dig in the dirt and am gazing the seed catalog, lol.

Morning, thanks Mint, slept good until about 2 when I woke up and began thinking about things. Finally went back to sleep. Sandy, I am going to try to watch a different tv channel.
Cloudy here this morning with rain coming later tonight. Just fed the birds but don't see many. Guess they gave up on me.
Ron, I bet you can help me with this. I put some brown beans in the slow cooker this morning. When they're almost done will peel and quarter some potatoes and put them on top to cook. But, I have been wondering how you cook red beans and rice. Mine would be brown beans though. Have never eaten red beans and rice.
JeriLynn, your day with the babies sounds like fun. About how much do they weigh when they're born?
Really looks dark in the west. We don't need rain- roads are kind of soft and I imagine the pastures are, too. Girls are out front and south of the house. I think they want to change pastures. Still have not seen the newest baby.
Back later. Need to find something for breakfast.

Going to Walmart today

Came to fix my chair they will give me a new one.

Carl…burglars have "code" grabers that can open your garage door so please make certain your door is secure.
Brown beans I assume are pinto beans and used in the SW a lot. Red beans are kidney beans. Red beans and rice was a traditional dish made on Mondays because it was laundry day.
Louisiana red beans and rice uses the trinity and usually some Andouille. Yum. Think I will make some with Louisiana Gold hot sauce.
Dreary inside day but have appts…oh,well.
