You're getting a lot of tests, Ron! I'm glad they're being careful.
Erma Bombeck was right about a lot of things. I went to the store with a list the other day and had three items in my cart before I reached the first item on the list. One thing I bought was a rotisserie chicken, which I had been craving but hadn't put on the list. It was $9 but we made three meals of it - chicken and noodles this evening used the last of it.
One thing on the list was a can of San Marzano tomatoes so I can try the tomato sauce recipe you Italian cooks mentioned. Looking forward to it!

Judith, maybe the relaxing part is lying on the heating pad, LOL

Morning, cloudy and very strong South winds. Rain and storms the next two days.
Billy wss in the lot this morning, then bawled two or three times. Guess he can't figure out where everyone is so he's calling them. If I had known where they were moved(across the road) he could have stayed with them. Even asked about buying one to be with him.
I hope the men come back today and finish their tree work so the work on the road can continue. Things seem to.be in a turmoil right now, here and all over the world. Not sure whether to transplant the tree now or after the rain.. Digging might be easier after..
Ron, so glad your test was negative. Hope everything goes well.

Good morning.
Judith, thanks for the tomato growing info. I would like to grow some cherry tomatoes but I don't get enough sun on my balcony.

Good morning.
Judith and Carl. Your so right, laying against the heating pad, is the relaxing part. 😅
Iris. Yes Im still watching the eagles, I have them on my lap top my phone and the TV. They have got so big, and their still so young. I love their names.
Lorita. That would be nice, if you can get a friend for Billy.
Hug to all, Zetta

The eaglets seem to have grown each time I look at them. One seems slightly larger than the other one to me. It's pretty amazing to me.
Ron it will take several days before you get any relief from the injection.
I really can't believe how much I'm Swiffering or vacuuming. All of the oak doodles somehow get in the house. We don't have any carpet, so I can see them laying there daring me to clean them up! So alas, I'm off to Swiffer once again.
Let's be safe everyone.

I think the smaller one is the one last born
0 -
The larger one is Sunny, I believe he/she is a few days older then Gismo. Gizmo, is 1 month and 9 days. Sunny is 1 month 13 days. 🦅 🦅

Hi, I looked st Sunny and Gizmo and hard to believe they're so big. Wonder how old they are when they fledge?
Zetta, Billy's family will be back when they and three or four sets of cows finish the top grass on the section east of us. Billy came up this afternoon and wss grazing in the lot.. I opened the corral gate so he could graze north of the house. Told him to come through and he did. I have talked to him since he was born and every time I see him so I think he knows my voice and understands.
It has been warm and so windy today. I dread the storms tomorrow night. Weatherman says we could have as much as 5" of rain the next two days.
Took an hour nap this afternoon. Need to get into that habit. Iris, hope you sleep well tonight.
Carl, how are you today?
1 -
Doing well, Lorita, thank you. Eating well and sleeping warm.
Got my hair cut and DS's hair cut today and had a nice visit with him. Our barbershop has a photographic wall mural of Yosemite, and he always reminisces about the good time we had when we visited 30+ years ago.
It's a pretty day here, 80 and windy after an early morning shower. We are expecting the usual Easter weekend rainout, same as you, so I'll find something to do indoors.
Adult day care is having a garage sale fundraiser at the end of May and have asked for contributions. I have been desultorily cleaning out the garage, so this gives me a deadline and a place to dispose of all the things I no longer need. For example, this house has no hedge, so the hedge trimmer has hung on a hook for 15 years. It should be hanging in someone else's garage!
I'll keep the leaf blower. I have a lawn service, but the blower is handy when the garage is blown full of leaves and mulch on windy days. Jeff Foxworthy said "You might be a redneck if you use a leaf blower to clean out your car" but it actually works pretty well if you open all four doors and blow from upwind. DW caught me doing it and strongly disapproved.
I guess I might be a redneck if I hear a Foxworthy joke and think "Good idea!"
Sleep well, porchies.

Hope all of you have had a great day!
Beth - I love the photo of you tulips.
Lorita and Carl - I also saw the news clip with the elephants surrounding the babies. They were quite effective.
Carl - I'm curious as to whether you'll like the San Marzano tomatoes.
eaglemom - that quote from Erma Bombeck so so true!!!
ladyzetta - I love singing bowls. There used to be a store in the Haight that had those (and a lot of other things). I always enjoyed going in there. Your class sounds really nice. When I get back into town I'm going to see if I'm flexible enough to do yoga.
JeriLynn — gorgeous photo!!!!
As for me - it's 7:35pm and I'm so tired I'm thinking of taking a bath and then going to sleep. I'm not as young as I once was. 😄
My 94 year-old aunt is having some severe health problems. As my cousin told me, my aunt might live for six more months, or she could be gone tomorrow. So, with that in mind, my s.o. and I juggled plans and headed for the Bay Area yesterday. It was an 11 hour driving day. We got as far as Redding, CA, and then drove the rest of the way to San Francisco today (about 4 hours of driving today). Driving conditions were perfect, sunny and nice the whole way. There were a lot of flowering trees on the mountain passes…. I really can't complain about the drive. But I do the bulk of the driving, I'm feeling it right about now.
We'll spend tomorrow and the weekend with my cousins and my aunt. I'm very aware that this might be the last time I get to see her. 😕 She's such a force that I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of this. My aunt has said that she's ready to go, so I have to believe her. And of course I respect her.

GG, it's great that you can visit with your aunt at this time.
I once was so exhausted that I fell asleep in the bathtub. Fortunately for me, I woke up when my nose began to slip under the water. I used to like for the tub to be filled to the brim. Now, I never let the tub get more than 1/2 full. But I mostly take showers.

Nothing like a snort of bubble bath to wake you up! I know what you mean, Iris. I have severe sleep apnea, and before I got a CPAP I would go to sleep driving my car or in meetings. Sleep deprivation is deadly. I hope you sleep well tonight.

Good morning
Severe storms with wind, heavy rain, tornados and large hail were predicted for us last night and some areas received those. We had thunder and lightning but no severe storm and no rain. Rain chances 4 times in the next week - we need it.

Good morning from Lowndes State Park in Columbus, MS. The first “private” campground was not acceptable so I quickly got us this spot. It’s lovely.
Hope you have a wonderful day. Thinking of you!2 -
Jerri…wish I were there with. you…beautiful
San Marzano tomatoes…more info than you wanted to know;
and now that you have your official canned tomatoes;
Pomodoro:
This one is my favorite, because it is the simplest, and to me the freshest tasting. If you see a pasta pomodoro on a menu in Italy, expect a fresh tasting sauce the color of a real, ripe tomato. A true, Italian Pomodoro sauce often begins with soffritto: finely chopped celery, carrot and onion fried in extra virgin olive oil. Then, San Marzano or other sweet tomatoes are added in. More often than not, Italians actually use canned tomatoes for this, and I actually recommend doing the same to recreate it here. Don’t fall for the cheapest jar on the shelf, though. Spend a little bit more to buy the good ones, made in Italy, and never marinated.
Lorita…how many head were moved and how did they do it?
Went to Maundy Thursday services. It and Palm Sunday are my favorites.
GG…I made a simular trip years to Jackson MS. Only one day drive and not as interesting a destination.

Carl, I could have used that leaf blower last summer when they were doing the treework. I put the car, with windows open, North of the mulcher. So, of course, the wind blew everything toward the car and some into the car. I still find dried leaves in it. Love Emma Bombeck and Jeff Foxworthy.
Very warm and windy this morning. Storms predicted this evening and tonight and again tomorrow night. The weather, when it's like this, reminds me of a film they showed when I was in grade school. The wind was blowing with predicted storms and this woman was outside getting clothes off the clothesline before the storms got there. I remember that and can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday. Guess that comes with being mature, as Jo always said. Has anyone seen a post from her lately?
Judith, they moved 70-80 head. Didn't know.how or where until a day or so later saw them directly east. Before that I thought they used trucks but couldn't figure out how they loaded them without a corral and us not hearing them. When Bradley got Billy back I heard the cows bawling(call me nuts but I knew it was the ones from here) and then Billy came into the pasture. I know they came to feed, opened the gate from my place and across the road and enticed them over there with feed. When Darwin and I were checking fences we went through that gate and didn't see tracks but the road is partial graveled and hard. Haven't seen Billy this morning. Everything is beautiful and so green. Grass will be lush when they come back. It is so quiet outside, kind of eerie.
JeriLynn, your camping place is gorgeous. I imagine it us so peaceful and relaxing. Enjoy your time there and just relax.

Good morning.
JeriLynn, how lovely!
Judith, what stores sell these tomatoes? Trader Joe?

Good afternoon.
GG that is a trip that you will never regret. I'm glad you were able to make the trip.
Jeri that park view is beautiful. I'm glad you found it and shared it with us.
Grey and windy here. Storms are expected over night. I'm just so sick of sweeping oak doodles from the patio and the house. If we have any rain it should take care of them.
Seems DH needs his lunch. Let's be safe everyone.

Iris…I have always bought Centro but come to find it does not have the two "dots" . Bobby Flay uses Mutti and that plus the Gustarosso are on the Amazon site. Both of these have the "dots" talked about.
small area south of Napoli, the fertile Vesuvian soils create the ideal growing conditions for these outstanding tomatoes, enhanced by the cooperative's centuries-old cultivation methods, including manual spring water irrigation and hand-harvesting. What makes San Marzano tomatoes from Agro Sarnese Nocerino so unique is the terroir, or that unrepeatable combination of geography, soil, climate, and know-how.
I will try the Gustarossa from amazon.
So the cowa just got marched across the street and back? I gues it is true that the grass is greener on the other side of the street.
Has anyone here used a large format camera???

Oh my gosh, I feel so much better! I probably slept 10 hours, and the hot bath didn't hurt. We were out of the room by 9am to pick up our former neighbor for breakfast. We check in on him when we're at home, and then see him when we make it into town. He's 88, has mild dementia (he's on Aricept now). He was fully engaged this morning, so that was nice to see.
We'll be heading out in just a bit to begin spending time with my aunt and the rest of my family. Another good thing - we'll be staying with M, Peggy's amazing friend. It'll be really nice spending time with him too.
JeriLynn - that campground looks so inviting. Very serene.
Iris - Good thing you caught yourself!! I was tired enough last night that I made sure not to stay in the bathtub for too long. I usually take showers too, but last night, my bones were weary.
jfkoc - I'm with you on that pomodoro.
Lorita - Every time I think of where you live, I think of movies where the land and sky take center stage.
eaglemom - I'm very happy that we could shuffle around our schedules and make it to see my aunt. If we couldn't have made it work, and something happened to her now, I'm sure I'd have regrets. This way I get to see her and bring her the Easter candy that I know she likes. I don't know if you guys have this in the middle states and the east coast, but on the west coast there's a chocolate brand - See's Candies. They have pretty decent chocolate, and there's a particular kind that only comes out at Easter, and they're my aunt's favorites. So I'm armed! 🙂
Have a great day!

My tomatoes are Cento. Silly me, I thought San Marzano was the brand. I'm told I look Italian, but clearly it is only skin deep. The tomato label certifies they are genuine San Marzano, grown in the ashes of Mt. Vesuvius, so we will see. I got them at Price Cutter, a locally owned chain.
Mississippi is beautiful. I have never seen larger, more flowery azaleas than in Jackson's city park. Jackson also had (may still have) the largest Harley Davidson dealership I ever saw. It was called Southern Thunder, the perfect name for a motorcycle shop in the South.
Clouding up here, getting ready for the usual rainy Easter weekend. Sunrise service at the minor league baseball park is on rain or shine, and I'm sure they will get a crowd, but it won't include us. I have frozen myself on Easter morning for the last time.

Not back. Judith.. I had him.bring Billy back because he knows where everything is here.. I just ran over to Darwin's to take him some truffles for his birthday Sunday. The road will be flooded Sunday. He wasn't there but Donna was. Drove almost the section line east of us and saw the girls. I stopped and told them.hi and they knew it was me. They're all bunched up, would like to be in the barn out of the wind where Billy is right now.
I have Contadina and Del Monte in the pantry but have used Centro. The two I have right now are Roma.
GG, you're tight, hundreds of acres of green grass with lots of trees but mostly open pastures and meadows. I have seen pictures of how it was when my parents moved here and there were fewer trees. Back then all of this was farmland with maybe one pasture for some milk.cows and a small meadow for hay. This part of Eastern Oklahoma is called Green Country and it truly is especially in the spring and up to mid summer when it gets hot and dry.
Judith, two dots??
I think I will go out and give Billy some hay so he can stay in the barn if he wants to.

Lorita…the link I posted at 10:28 (this morning)n discusses the "dots"…I think he calls them logos.
