Finding Home Care (NYS, Long Island Specifically!)

Hello everyone!! I am currently in the process of finding assisted living care for my mother who has Alzheimer’s Disease (most likely full on dementia at this point). She is starting to have bathroom issues, and I am reaching my limit. It is now a risk to her physical health and my mental health from my burn out. I mean I’ve been doing this for almost 6 years now, makes sense we’re getting to this point. I am in the process of getting mom approved for long-term care benefits from Medicaid, after she just approved for full Medicaid benefits! She gets disability every month, but has no other income or assets. She also has Medicare, so she’s dual eligible. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or advice for this next step with my mom’s care. I feel like I’m going crazy trying to keep track of everything, and wanna be sure I’m looking at ALL of the options we have. In home care is unfortunately not much of an option, so that’s why we’re jumping to assisted. Thank you all so much!!
