Newly diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's I'm 59

Im single and work fulltime. I live paycheck to paycheck. I'm in early/mild , kinda crossing over. I have no idea what to expect. Or any kind of timeline. I have debts and need some direction. There is no long/short term disability where I work. I expect a 2 week severance when they find out. How long will i be able to work (accounting clerk), how long before I can't be independent?

Sorry this is 3 days new. Oh and my husband passed 14 yrs ago so how can I help my adult children learn what's going to happen and accept they will be alone.

Thanks Ann

Not sure where you are located, but can you apply for federal disability payments? It's probably easier sooner than later.

Also, perhaps call the Alzheimer's hotline at 1-800-272-3900. It's free and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to guidance, they may be able to direct you to some local resources that could help you.
