In the words of the poet, "please allow me to introduce myself," although when it comes to "wealth and taste," I'm lacking on both counts. LOL.
I was born and raised in the Chicago area, not far from Midway Airport, with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, which caused me to spend a lot of time with doctors. It has been suggested that my medications may be responsible for my memory loss. While I was in school, I was good enough in science and English to have people try to copy my test answers, but I could never get the hang of math. Yeah, I was kinda nerdy.
I followed my dream to get my BA in Religion and become a youth pastor, but no one seemed interested in actually paying me to do it. That led to a series of jobs in inside sales, filing and a long stint at Cinnabon in which I never rose higher than the ranks of a cashier or a baker. Then, maybe ten years ago, I lost a job because I couldn't remember my work schedule. I got enough calls from the manager asking, "Where are you? Your shift started ten minutes ago" that I was let go. I felt like Leonard from "The Big Bang Theory" when he said, "I swear I'm smart!"
It has been suggested that my medications may be contributing to my memory issues, but that avenue has not been explored.
So here I am, smart, unemployed, and collecting disability. It's a good thing I'm not married, or I'd need someone to support me, and we all know what a turn-on THAT is for women. Even now, my older sister reminds me about upcoming doctor's appointments and medication. I gave up my driver's license because owning a car was getting too expensive for a guy who kept losing jobs.

rob a what the cause of your memory issues are could be many because of your life situation. i was advised to go to a memory clinic which was wonderful. there you have multiple people to asses and guide you. i do have alzheimers. but like you say maybe its medication that needs a shift. one way or another you will be in good hands at least i was in the memory clinic in bennington vt. best of luck and ask lots of questions!!!!!!!!
