With Adams, it wasn't the camera so much as the darkroom. IIRC he greatly improved his pictures in the darkroom. That's why it's called Art.

Good luck with your VA appt. Tomorrow, Ron. Hope it goes well.

You know I have read that there are more bald women than men but guess no one would know because women wear pretty wigs.. I had one years ago and I thought it was hot.

Pretty morning but windy and the wind feels cold to me. Guess I can call my Equinox Gray Lady. It's sterling gray so name fits. If I can't Have Gray Lady, the cow, I can have Gray Lady, the car. Guess I should call the PU Blue Boy since it's Patriot Blue.

Beth, I have three pretty red tulips - I thought they were purple last year. Can they change colors? Had some pretty yellow ones earlier but they're bone now. I love tulips.

I need to level up the area in front of the porch where the holly was because the GPs have dug holes in there. Probably will need more dirt. Where to get dirt? Lots of it on the farm but it's grass covered now and hard to shovel.

I have Lantana and perennial Gerbera daisies coming around the 28 th plus the caladiums . I also ordered zinnas, Marigolds and cosmos seeds to sow in front of the porch. I think I might put the Lantana in a.black pot and sit it on the big tree stump. Not sure how tall it will get but we had lantana many years ago and it grew pretty tall. Does well in our hot summers.Thought I would try the Berbers daisies again, maybe they will live this year in a different place.

Slept pretty well, Iris, except for an hour or so around 3 a.m. Did you feel the esrthquake?

    Back later.

Lorita…I was getting ready to check on you after your "I'm upset" post last night. Glad all is better. Which aIr purifier did you get and why. I am having trouble picking one.

    Good afternoon.

Lorita I'm glad that your better.

Ron I think that's something we've either all done, or will do. I do hope that they can give you an injection in your neck. DH has had one and it has made a difference.

Yes Carl, my car Betty White is white, iridescent white. I've tried to think back and come up "why" I've named all my cars, but I'm blank. It might go back to my first car, a 63 Corvair. I had it painted orange with two black stripes. (Again, why, I have no idea!!) Anyway she was named Lady Bug and thus the car naming has stuck. The car had no reverse, so I had to park where I could either pull through or - what I usually did - keep the drivers side door open & use my leg and push with all my might to reverse! (This might be the beginning of my bad knees!) Oh the memories………

Time to get busy here. Let's be safe everyone.

Thanks for your concern, guys. I'm better but still somewhat aggravated. Nothing I can d o about it past what I did last night so...

Kept hearing a big machine running this morning but couldn't locate it until I finally saw something through the trees on the road. Hurried down and they were trimming trees along my fence. The electric line along our property line is OG&E but we have another company whose line is on the other side of the road but crosses up to our house. One guy wss running this huge machine and another wss watching.

They aren't from the electric company but are sub contractors. He assured me it wasn't them who sprayed our trees and killed them. They have to cut trees back five feet from the line. Another mower will come by and mulch all they have cut and get the dead limbs off my fences, they said. I will check on that. They left stumps from the dead trees about four feet high and said they would mulch those and get limbs off the fences. Also will come inside the meadow and get limbs in most the meadow. There is a wire gate on that side but not on the pasture side so won't get in there. If you ever hear an unidentified noise, check it out!!

Other than the noise I heard, it is uber quiet this morning. Cows are gone - taken to another pasture, somewhere, to graze the grass. Billy will be back and so will the others, later. Did not know this until I went to they mailbox yesterday afternoon and couldn't see the girls.

Judith, when did your caladiums arrive? I think I ordered before you. Maybe they'll come in a couple of days. Still a bit early to plant because the soil needs to be warm. I shoveled some out front and it wasn't too hard so will only do a little st a time.

I just saw on CBS news a video of the elephants in San Diego forming a circle around the babies during the earthquake. Babies in the middle, tusks and trunks out.

Wasn't that something, Carl? Animals are smart and will protect their babies in any they can. I saw that with the last calf. A big bird got too close close and mom ran it away.

    Good morning.

Carl. I also saw the elephants forming the circle to protect the babies, they were fast, no second thoughts. I know looking forward to the nurse coming, is a good feeling. Dan's caregiver came twice a week, I was able to get so much done, even if it was just going someplace for a cup of coffee.

Ron. Getting days mixed up, happens to me often. I have a watch I ware, it tells me the time, the month and day. It's nice that you go to doctors for check ups and follow ups. I hope your results are good, and you get relief for pain.

Beth. Those tulips are beautiful 😍 thanks for sharing.

Eaglemom. I had to laugh about how you got, Lady Bug, to back up. So funny in those days what we would do with our cars. I had a boyfriend, at times he had problems with the car not wanting to start, we were O.K. as long as we were in a area, where we could run and push it and jump in. Those were Crazy 🤪 Days. It's a wonder some of us are still alive.

My daughter had a new tree planted in her front yard, a few months ago. It's a Desert Museum Palo Verde, it came as a starter tree and it was about 6 feet tall. Right now it has lots of little yellow flowers on it. I will have her help me send a picture, later.

    Hugs, Zetta

I didn't feel the earthquake, but I got a text message alert that it was coming. That was cool.

Lorita. I'm glad you're not upset now!

Beth, the tulips are lovely, I like the two colors.

Ron, I get my days mixed up too. That's why I have to keep a close eye on my wall calendar. I would like to buy a purse calendar, but they seem to be sold out.

Judith, I wonder how Ansel came to visit Yosemite the first time?

    Morning.

Lots of running around this week so far. Getting ready to leave tomorrow for a short get-away to, of all places, Columbus, Mississippi. Why there? DH has seen promotional ads on FB. It is the birthplace of Tennessee Williams and does have many historical buildings. The Mississippi University for Women, "The W", is also located there. We will be camping in a locally owned, rustic park on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. Also known as the "Golden Triangle", which includes the ?cities/towns of West Point and Starkville - home to Mississippi State. I lived in Jackson, MS for 15 or so years with my late husband. I anticipate lots of sitting by the river and riding the backroads. Deep sigh. But, at least it is just us - so that will be nice.

The baby goats will go to Huntland today for another adventure with the great grands. They are now getting 1/2 their bottle twice a day and eating more grass/grain. At 6 weeks old they are gaining weight. We have moved them to an outdoor area in the main pasture that has a "goat house". They can see the rest of the herd and Lilly/Jake are right there for protection at night. They stay cuddled together in the sunshine, have slept in the goat house and seem content. Of course we let them out in the pasture with us when we are down there.

Ok, gotta get up and going. You all have a good day. Ron, hope your appointment goes well today.

Thinking of you Ron. Hope you get some relief from your pain. Know it becomes wearisome.

Thank you for sharing your tulips Beth.

I shed my hair about 3 months after sepsis incident. I looked into wigs and decided I did not want to deal with that. Decided if bad enough would just find some cute little hats. Maybe I will just learn to accept me as I am too.

Good morning. It's bright, cool and windy here today.

Judith— I will be following along with the Ansel Adams studies. Mom was an artist/art teacher before she retired, so I spent a lot of Sundays wandering not just around museums but also galleries that featured works of the New Hope School (PA Impressionism and Modernism).

So, was the pan worth it? I have a couple copper pots and some Cuisinart stainless, but I sometimes see the All Clad, which I have gifted to my godchild and nephew-in-law, and wondered if I need some, too. Which pan(s) did you get?

Iris— I'm glad your sleep seems to be improving.

Lorita— My mom already takes biotin 5000mcg. She claims it helps with her hair and nails. I took it for a time. I don't think it worked any magic on my hair, but my hair and nails seemed to grow faster which was just kind of annoying.

Beth— Mmmm carnitas. Those are a favorite of mine when done well. I find I'm more likely to find good ones at small hole-in-the-wall family places.

Ron— Good luck today. I hope you find some relief. Living with unrelenting pain is exhausting.

I've flaked on appointments before. If I didn't consult my phone/watch I wouldn't know where I was supposed to be on any given day between mom, DH and myself.

Eagle— Mom's first car had no first or reverse. She didn't learn to drive until she was in her 30's and only got a license 15 months before I did. She and dad bought a used MGB for her to drive to her student teaching gig. Until they got the transmission worked on, my sister or I had to run shotgun to get her out of parking spaces. I was younger and stronger then.

Mint— I wonder if mom's hair loss is related to sepsis and not the antibiotic. She started shedding mightily mid-March which was about 2 months after she was hospitalized in January. Oh well, she'd due for a skin check soon. If she "passes" with no "areas of concern", the derm can modify her skin checks to yearly. Fingers crossed— she's been on some high dose steroids on and off in the last 6 months and historically that's led to MOHS.

    ______________________________________________________________

DH had a great appointment yesterday. The cardiac surgeon, who specializes on valves and aneurysms, explained that DH was nowhere near needing surgery at this point and may never. He does want a year check, but feels the CHF, which is effectively treated currently, is more likely to be a problem in his case. Long story short, DH now has 2 cardiologists. I guess he'll have to stop squawking about mom having an ophthalmologist for each eye.

We celebrated by going to a French bistro overlooking the park for a late lunch. It was pretty spendy, but I've been trying to get DH there for years. He really enjoyed it.

For the most part it was a lovely day, but he was kind of anxious about taking the train and Ubering. I take the train fairly often. For hair appointments and medical appointments with mom and before that commuting to complete my degree a while back. I have the apps needed for train schedules, Uber and parking payments. And he spent all day second guessing me and asking "are you sure?". Ugh. I may have snapped at him when he insisted on using Google Maps to get to the train station. He deserved it. I tried to get him to use the stairs near the center city campus where I took my night classes, but he insisted on mansplaining the need to use the main entrance a block further away which meant backtracking through the underground concourse to the actual station. Why would he think he knows better than I do? By the time we got home I could barely walk on my left knee. I really need to see somebody about that.

Morning, Good luck with your appt. Today, Ron. Hope it goes well.

JeriLynn, it doesn't seem.possible that those babies are six weeks old. Time does move on. Have a good, relaxing trip to Mississippi. How long will you.be gone?

It seems so quiet outside without the cows, first time.in 89 years there hasn't been a cow on this place. My parents moved here 89 years ago and I know they had at least a couple of milk cows. Billy will be back soon but no idea when the others will return. Sort of makes me wish I had never sold them.but caring for that many was hard. Billy will be lonesome.but he will be in familiar surroundings. Still somewhat upset that I wasn't told they were being moved so I wouldn't wonder where they were or what happened to them. Worried.both Darwin and I..

Iris, I slept through the night without getting up and.no cat arguments. Still not ready to get up. How neat that you got a warning on your phone about the earthquake.

May try to get those flower beds straightened out before the pIants and seeds get here. Now to figure out how to keep the GPs, mainly Sheena, from digging there to cool off in the cool dirt. Hope all of you have a nice Wednesday. Weather says we will have a wet Easter. Oh, yesterday I heard people are coloring marshmallows along with potatoes for Easter instead of eggs. So far the eggs at WM hasn't gone up.

Morning. Thought I'd start us off with a quote from Erma Bombeck. My mom loved her as do I. I think this quote is spot on.

“The odds of going to the store for a loaf of bread and coming out with only a loaf of bread are three billion to one.”

    good morning everyone!

Iris…….Adams first visited Yosemite with his family when he was 14-16. It wah then that he was given his first camera…the Kodak Brownie Box. Years later he met his wife there.

He wrote of his first view of the valley: "the splendor of Yosemite burst upon us and it was glorious.... One wonder after another descended upon us.... There was light everywhere.... A new era began for me." Iris…

He developed his early photographic work as a member of the Sierra Club and was later contracted with the United States Department of the Interior to make photographs of national parks. For his work and his persistent advocacy, which helped expand the National Park system, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1980.

HB…..Not familiar with New Hope and the PA Impressionists. What an interesting childhood you must have had. I am so interested in learning more! I had a dream of getting to the Barnes for years.

It was not "pan"…it was pots and pans of all sizes. Now that I am using them I realize how good they are.

Jerri….I spent a lot of time in my "youth"A in Jackson. My grandfather was President of Belhaven College and my immediate relatives (kin) are still there.

Lorita…no cows??? Do you think they will be back??? I was thinking of your lighting situation last night. Have you thought of getting some solar lights? I have some. Not a lot of light but they do dispell the darkness.

    Erma Bromback….the great philosopher

Judith— The Barnes is amazing if you're ever in Philadelphia. I've only seen the collection in its newer location but mom saw it in situ at its original location. She said the house added to the experience.

It reminds me a lot of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum being the collection of one individual who was something of an outsider to the art world at the time. They're both interesting in how you can see the growth of the collection as they grew into the role of serious collector.

If you get to Philly, you'd probably want to check out The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Rodin. The Michner Museum has a number of New Hope School paintings— it's a small museum in the county seat housed in the old prison. In addition to the paintings, they have a room devoted to George Nakashima's work and usually a traveling exhibit of some kind. Next door to that is the Mercer Museum (of Mercer tile fame) which is akin to walking through a very eccentric uncle's storage barn.

Judith,I still have a security light north of the house that provides !ots of light. There is one on the south end of the barn that isn't working along with interior barn lights. Another is on the South end of the storage building that lets light into the bedroom and South side of yard and garden. Have thought of solar lights and there is a pole near the lot where I could put one. Maybe later. Thanks for thinking about it.

No cows now but I think Billy is back in the pasture. The cows are across the road, I think. I saw what I thought was them yesterday and when they fed this morning I heard them and then saw Bil!y come in so they're not far. He says they will all be back. Where they are he bales so guess othey're going to eat grass before crab grass starts growing. No idea why I didn't hear all of that going on or why the GPs didn't hear it and bark. Stormy was aware of what was happening this morning . Oh, well, today is another day to deal with. I think they're down on the road north of us dealing with downed trees. I will go down after the mail runs to see what they're doing.

Later: I drove up and saw Billy. Called him and be recognized my voice and came away from the fence. He knows he is home but may stay up in that area where there is plenty of hay and grass and he can hear the girls.

Then drove down to check to see how/what they were doing with the dead trees. They have what they call a mower that mulches wood and there's another man getting limbs off the fences. Looks much better already.. They have gone over about half if it, then will finish the other half and come back through mulching what is left. Then I guess it will be up to the County to take care of what is in the ditches. The County.needs to do work on probably a.mile of that road-: deepen ditches, put in new culverts and gravel. Two or three times the trash truck couldn't get down the road to pick up trash and that many times UPS and FedEx couldn't make it. I can go out of the gate and go the other direction and get out so the worst is west of the gate.

    Sorry this is so long.

    Hello Porch Friends.

Lorita. No I don't plan on going to yoga while the kids are gone. I just plan on staying home and being lazy. It would have been nice, if you were told when and where the girls will be going, and returning. Do you ever fear, they won't be coming back.

GG. We had a very relaxing yoga class, this morning. It was aromatherapy , with a sound coming from singing bowls. There was three round white bowls, and the yoga instructor, had a type of wand with something on the end. She ran it around the top of the bowls, and got many different sounds. I have never seen that done before. It was a very relaxing sound. We just laid there in a comfy position, and listened.

JeriLynn. Sounds, like you will have a nice weekend getaway, with a lot of things to do. I can't believe the babies, are already 6 weeks old. I would love, to see more pictures.

HB. I'm glad you got some good news, and your DH, will not be getting surgery. You really take good care of him.

I'm sitting here, leaning against a heating pad, recovering from this mornings yoga. This is something, that my body really needed. Hugs Zetta

Sort of, Zetta, but probably will because of the lease. I looked out about an hour ago and Billy was in the lot. He had come up for a clean drink of water I hurried out and talked to.him a while before he went out to graze.. I remember him when he was a baby standing between my knees as I tried to figure out if he could see. He only has vision in one eye so kind of turns his head a little when you talk to him. He will be lonesome but he knows where he is and where things are. He is a.big boy like his daddy who weighed 2200 lbs. He isn't that heavy yet but will get there.

Enjoy your two weeks with your fur babies. Sleep late and watch TV in bed. I do that at night and in the mornings. I got the flower . i netyerod for youbeds to be pretty well levelled up today. Dirt looks good but I have some potting soil to add in. I wss trying to think how I could keep Sheena from laying in the beds and remembered some rolls of wire I have. It's 4-5 ft. Tall so I can cut what I need and lay it over the beds. Sheena will be upset tbough.

Have any o f you all tried a gummy supplement called Mighty Flex? Supposed to help your joints. QVC has it today for about $65. For a one month supply. They say it has all the good things from vegetables called polyphenols. They're showing something that looks like cheese balls but supposed to.be good for you.. I think I.better change channels.

Sandy, Rachel will be on soon. Should be good. Talk to you soon.

Had my injection today for pain and still hurting. The Dr said it could be 3 to 4 days before it helps. He also wanted a ecocardigram to make sure no pulmonary hypertension. They were able to clear me fir surgery since eco didn't show pulmonary hypertension. Even though I recently had a pulmonary function test, they want the kind that will let them know my risk factor for surgery. I had thought there was only one type of pft, didn't know they had one that would check your risk factor.
