I want to be my dad’s caregiver and get paid for it. He only has Medicare. Any suggestions?

That strategy is generally used for Medicaid recipient in some states. I'd consult an elder law attorney to see if there's a way to do this legally without compromising Medicaid eligibility should he need care in a facility and outlive his assets. Taking a paycheck for care could be interpreted as gifting in the 5-year-lookback.

You might try calling your local commission on aging. They may not have the answers, but could point you in the right direction.

Agree with calling your local agency on Aging. These may be called something else where you live. This is a Medicaid arrangement, so finding out if he qualifies for Medicaid is the first step. Good luck.
