    Morning, I'm okay, Mint, thanks for caring. Now the washer is on the fritz.. Guess I will have to call Sears. Looks like it's going to be another hot day with.hotter ones to come. I'm tired of the whole thing, weather included. Just too old for all of this stress.

    Later: Did call Sears and a repairman will come tomorrow for the washer between 8 and 5. Had to deal with verification with WM. Every so often they do this. Talked with two women last evening with no help.. Talked with a man this morning and he took care of it. Sorry to say thIs ladies but I seem to get better help from a man, at least with Walmart. Refrigerator replacement still.pending but did learn it has not been voided. Was told today that was the replacement approved in January.

    Still sore but getting better. Didn't sleep too well. I need a nap! Hope everyone is well today.

    What in the world? I have no idea why my 'morning' post posted again. When I started to type it just happened. Go figure.

    Judith and Lorita how are each of you feeling today? Goodness, we've all got to be careful.

    I had an interesting discussion with my PCP this morning. He likes you to come in twice a year - a physical, & a med check. Of course you don't have to do that, but we've chosen to follow that. Of course you can bring up whatever needs to be discussed. Today was a med check for me. We went over the few meds I take and chatted. Everything was great thus far. He looked at my legs and shook his head - I received the lecture of always wearing full leg medical grade compression hose, again. I do wear knee high ones, but they are so hot. But he's correct. I mentioned something that's happened three times. When I wake up I can tell I'm tired, which is unusual for me. I sort of drag myself around the house doing what I need to get done, fixing the meals, etc. But if I pass a chair I'm apt to sit for a bit. Again very un me. By evening after dinner my eyes are heavy and that's usually when I get my second wind. I shared this with him, he looks at me and smiles and says "your not listening." Clearly I looked blankly at him so he said "your not listening to your body. Its telling you its tired. There in absolutely nothing wrong with doing less when your dragging. Its better that you chose to rest and recover. Your body is telling you to stop and slow down." I again was looking at him and he said everything on your daily agenda might not have to happen on that day. He's totally right. I know this and knew it before he ever opened his mouth, but I guess I needed him to tell me its ok to stop and smell the roses, so to speak. So, there is nothing wrong with resting, my PCP says so!

    And on that note, DH wants to play a game. So that's where I'll be this afternoon, taking it easy, playing games in the cool air conditioning, obeying my PCP!

    Everyone be safe out there. The heat is back.

    Eagle, I get tired sometimes. I slept most of the day yesterday and was still dozing off watching TV in the evening, so I went to bed and slept another 8 hours. Today I woke up with the sun and feel great. Age gets us whether we want it or not. I won a limbo contest at a garden party in the summer of '71, but I'll never attempt that again! I don't even park my car as straight as I did even a few years ago.

    You're not getting old when your hair turns gray,

    You're not getting old when your teeth decay.

    But you're getting old when you start to creak

    And you mind makes dates your body can't keep!

    Hello Porch People!

    The heat is back but it was cloudy this morning until lunch. We’ve cut grass at the Huntland place and here - 5 acres. I forgot sunscreen so I am truly a Redneck this afternoon. Ouch!

    Tomorrow’s project is emptying out the AL apartment of a friend. Fully furnished. It’s all coming to my garage. I should have built another garage building next to my house since DH keeps lugging all manner of stuff home 🙄.

    I threw a pot roast/potatoes/carrots in the crockpot before we left at 7 this morning so at least dinner is ready. All I have to do is roast asparagus and rolls.

    Hope everyone has a good evening

    Carl, I like that poem and it is so true. I laid down this afternoon on the unmade bed and took a nap. It is hard to make a kingsized bed by yourself. I'm sleeping sort of in the middle and it's even hard to get there. Today I really feel the soreness in my left upper back. Of course when I fall it is always on the left side.

    Eagle, good you're following your doctors orders. He sounds like my doctor. I mostly do what is necessary. Have to sweep the floors every morning, or should, because of white tufts of Pyrenees hair. Will have to straighten up in the morning for the repairman. Someday this stuff will be finished, ya think?

    JeriLynn, when do you slow down or do you ever? Guess I was that energetic when I was still feeding and taking care of the gjrls. Seems like when you slow down, you get even less able to do things or you realize all of those things aren't really necessary.

    I really worry about my neighbor in this heat. He gets out doing things and just keeps going until he's almost too hot. He said day. before yesterday when he was cutting limbs he got hot and laid down in the tall grass for half of an hour.

    Excessive heat warning tomorrow and for several days but at least it has been windy. Schools are beginning to begin classes. When I was in school we didn't have air conditioning or even fans. Same for when I.began working at the VA.Hospital. AC in the morgue and doctor's offices only and fans for other emp!oyees and patients. Times have changed.

    Judith, are you over your dizziness? Hope so because that is an awful feeling.

    I think I will make the bed and go lay on it and watch TV. Good night, sleep tight.

    Carl and Iris - Ha! About the "homemade" meals. I cast no stones anywhere - I would totally do all of those things.

    Lorita - it seems like this has been your month for problematic appliances and services. I hope all of this gets resolved soon.

    I'm sorry you're still sore … I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.

    eaglemom - I hear you about getting enough rest. Usually I'm pretty peppy, but today I lost steam around 2pm, and actually took a nap. I felt so much better when I got back up. We have to listen to our bodies.

    Carl - the creakiness of age …

    JeriLynn - that's a job (cleaning out the AL apartment. I'm tired just thinking about it.

    All of you with excessive heat warnings, please be careful.

    Weather here in the PNW was rain today, and some scheduled for tomorrow too. The rain today was kind of nice, it wasn't a downpour, just kind of steady, and the temps stayed around 70 degrees.

    Today was a gym day - my trainer told me he was going to intensify my workouts, and he wasn't lying. Today was mostly an hour of cardio, including escrima. I'm not sure why I like it so much, but I do.

    I've still got more work to do tonight, hopefully I'll last until midnight. 🙂

    GG, I'll bet you would like the Society for Creative Anachronism. They dress in costume (Viking, Samuri, Medieval, whatever) and play sword fight. I used to work with a couple of people (one of them a woman) who were into that. Among other things, they did demonstrations at the Renaissance Faire.

    My exercise is pretty limited. I am using the treadmill and dumbbells at the senior center, and I'm getting a little stronger. My doctor thinks I can discontinue some of the blood pressure meds if I get back into my exercise program, so that's what I'm trying to do. Between naps.

    Judith, the Epley maneuver helped me when I had BPV. I haven't had to do it in a long time.

    Good morning Porch Rockers! It has been a busy week.

    Monday I had exercise class then went to a friend's farm to pick peaches. Tuesday we had a "girls" class of '73 get together and potluck. I took pulled pork and buns. Wednesday I had an eye dr. appointment for itchy, irritated eyelids - anyone else experienced that? He provided a prescription for a steroid cream. Hope it helps. Wednesday evening I went to a "girls" party here in town. My sister had come in from Ocala, FL; sister and cousin are coming over here this afternoon to see our new home (and us!). This morning I breaded pork chops with shake 'n bake and put them in the crockpot for dinner. I also finished peeling, slicing and freezing the peaches.

    Next week will not be as busy. I do have exercise class on Mondays and Thursdays and a historical society meeting for my town on Monday. Next Friday I am meeting a friend from high school who lives close to the area where I grew up. That evening there is a screening of a documentary about pie at the city park. It's called "Pieowa" and here is some info about it: "Producer/director of PIEOWA Beth M. Howard is the author of three pie-themed books and the former (and final) resident of the American Gothic House where she ran the Pitchfork Pie Stand. She takes viewers on a mouth-watering journey through her native state exploring pies of all kinds, meeting pie makers of all ages, exploring the history of the “pie-oneers” who brought it to the Midwest, its importance to Iowans, and why it rivals corn and hogs as an iconic part of Iowa’s identity. Howard has experienced first-hand the influence of this association as she once got hired as a pie baker in Malibu, California. When asked “What are your qualifications?” she answered, “I’m from Iowa,” and got the job! In the documentary, Howard’s film expands on the themes of her TEDx Talk, in which she espouses pie’s healing powers, how pie can build community, and how it can make the world a better place."

    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Iris, sounds like you enjoyed the music at the jazz festival. Sorry you didn't have a comfortable place to sit.JeriLynn, your crocs look amazing. I've never had any and wonder how comfortable they are. You'll have to let us know. How did the back to school shopping go? You are very generous with your grands and great grands! They are lucky to be yours! You talked about making a difference with your life - you already do! Your kids, grandkids, the kids you taught in VBS, the relative in Scottsboro that you cook and buy groceries for, the FIL you helped so faithfully until he passed. You are a very kind, thoughtful and generous person - and a great cook and housekeeper too. I don't know how you do it all.HB, did you get your desk cleaned off? I have papers I also need to go through. The good news is they are out of sight in drawers and a cedar chest and a chest of drawers. Maybe that'll be a winter project. Hope your DH's test went well. Lorita, how many baby calves do you have now? Is the white cow a Charlais (spelling)? How are crops looking around your area? The corn and beans here look great. We have had a good deal of rain and it shows. Our lawn is very green now too.Carl, your Mandarin combination sounds really good. Even better, you didn't have to cook it. 😀Ron, hope things are falling into place for you now and that you are feeling better physically and emotionally. Mint, hope things are going well for you, your nephew and your mother. Just think how far you have come since you were able to place your mom and sell your house. The stress must be so much less, the relaxation more. I'm glad for you.GG, you seem to be keeping busy with Death Guild and the gym. Enjoy! Judith, I am glad your vertigo is improving.Beth

    Good morning. The heat hasn't hit us yet. I'm not looking forward at all. I hope those of you sweltering stay hydrated and safe.

    Judith— I find Jeanne Robertson amusing. I especially like the bit she does on "Left-brain" shopping from a list.

    Eaglemom— This site has a mind of its own. I find myself unable to post on certain threads or I post something, and it doesn't show up for upwards of 48 hours.

    Carl— Funny you mention parking straight. I have noticed this with DH of late; he pulls in and then has to straighten out the car. It's a Honda Accord so the degree of difficulty is pretty low in most situations. Sunday, we went to collect DS from work while his car is in the shop, and he neglected to turn off his turn signal twice. But, no, he tells me, he doesn't need hearing aids.

    I have a friend who met her husband at a Society of Creative Anachronism event. They went on to have a Ren Faire themed wedding and then a son who may be the quirkiest kid I ever met.

    Jerilynn— I don't envy you cleaning out anyone else's things. It's a lot of hard, and usually, sad work. And then to store it as well. Ugh. I hope the stress test was unexciting.

    Lorita— I hope you feel better soon. Maybe you need a robot vacuum. Mom's kept her house relatively free of fur from her Maine Coon.

    Speaking of making dates one's body can't keep. DH and I were up early to get downtown for his contrast MRI stress test. We left just before 7am and caught the express which was running late. Instead of transferring to a different train and walking 2 1/2 blocks to the hospital, I got us a taxi which meant we were 45 minutes earlier than his report time. We were in I the old hospital rather than the sexy new one or the beautiful outpatient center. It was freezing cold and a generally unlovely space, but they could not have been kinder or more efficient. We were done by 11:30, got an Uber, got a coffee for him and tea for me and caught the 12:23 home. We ate early and were in bed by 8:30. Test was negative for both infarct and amyloid which is awesome.

    I need to hit several stores today— Costco, dairy and beer distributor. I'll get DS to ride along and haul. Pizza tonight.

    Be well today.
    HB

    I don't know why my post above, where I addressed each individual by name placed it all in one big paragraph. That is not the way I typed it. I tried to correct it twice, but no luck. 🤷‍♀️

Commonly Used Abbreviations

DW= Dear Wife, Darling Wife
LO = Loved One
ES = Early Stage
EO = Early Onset
FTD = Frontotemporal Dementia
