Lorita…there is more than one rattle snake hunt here in Okla. There are 7 kinds of pit vipers in Okla. Please do be careful. The copperhead is abundant in Green Country.

I saw on the news that Florida is using robot rabbits to lure Burmese pythons out of hiding so they can catch them. They estimate that there are 300,000 pythons in Everglades National Park, and they have killed 95% of the mammals and birds, as well as a lot of the alligators.

We have rattlesnakes, copperheads, and water moccasins in MO, but no pythons thank goodness.

This is the first time I've been able to get online today. Not long after I woke up, the power went out! it only just came back about 45 min ago. We don't have a generator, which is plain old dumb since we lose power not infrequently. Next time we're out we have vowed to get one.

Carl - Sex, drugs and rock'n'roll is a thing at Burning Man … well, sex, drugs, and psytrance is probably more like it. Except - no sex on the playa this year - the Orgy Dome came down in the wind/dust storm. You just can't make this stuff up.

I'd rather just have a snow cone.

HB - what a weird word to censor on this site. No one checks these things for context?

Iris - Oh no! I'm sorry you've tested positive and have to miss your trip. Get a lot of rest and feel better soon.

Eve - I'm with ya on the power outages. I have cornered the market on candles. And what great neighbors you have!!

    Lorita - Sleep well!

Zetta - I'm pretty surprised that I can do my workouts. Never in a million years did I expect this. But I'm psyched that I can. One of my goals is to be able to climb to the top of Notre Dame in Paris one more time. (amazing view up there)

I can't wait for you to move to Boise and have livable weather again.

Speaking of pythons in Florida …. did any of you ever watch the series Life After People? I think it was on the History channel. The premise is one day for some unknown reason, every human on the planet disappears. How long does it take for everything we've built to fall apart? It sounds morbid and horrible, but it's actually really interesting. I learned so much about corrosion and concrete, mass dampers, beer, and yes, pythons in Florida. Did you know that honey is edible after 2,000 years? If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. And it's low commitment - I think there are only 20 some episodes. The only episode to avoid is the one about our pets. Trust me, just skip that one. Hmm, it appears that there is a new season that just started in July, 2025. I haven't seen that one.

    Good Morning,

Iris, I'm so sorry you have to miss your trip. Hopefully you are feeling better soon.

Lorita, Copperheads typically have big Hershey Kiss designs on their bodies while water moccasins/ cotton mouths have a more pixilated skin that may be gray, brown or mixed. The water moc is harder for me to recognize. Keeping the grass cut short around your vehicles is one way to prevent "surprises".

Today is the first of September so I guess we'll be starting 210 today??

I'm still resting up from our trip and having a family get together when we got home. I'm pooped!

HB, I wondered if you yourself had typed "deleted" or if the moderators had done that. So funny.

Everyone stay safe today. Afternoon showers predicted here for the next 3 days. We need the rain.

I don't think the moderators deleted the "bad" word, I think the computer program did DELETED.

Exactly. But down the line, some human(s) decided it was on the no-fly-list. Must've been an interesting day at work.

Reminds me of the old George Carlin Seven Words You Can't Say on Television bit.

Oh my, GG, I can't wait to watch "Life After People." Thanks for telling us about it. For others who are interested, I googled "where to watch Life After People" and it came up with many options. One option is the History channel online - it came up and there was a "watch now" symbol beside it, I clicked there and all of the episodes that have been released came up. GG, I read what you linked from Wikipedia and it really piqued my interest. Thank you so much! (If Lorita starts a new thread today, I'll copy this info because I think others might be interested in it.)

    good morning

Lorita mom is happy at MC. The only vegetables I’m raising this year is tomatoes. They’re doing OK not great. I canned green beans. I’m dehydrated a little parsley and a little peppermint. But even peppermint‘s not doing well this year this has been a very strange growing season here.

sounds like you’re blessed with good friends that bring you card and produce. I’m blessed to be able to get it at the Amish.

prayers for you, Iris that you will get to feeling better soon I hope.

GG and Beth - thank you for mentioning Life After People, and for including info about viewing episodes on the History Channel. I’m intrigued and have already started watching it. Luckily I can view it on my phone. I’ll probably link the phone to my old not smart tv for better viewing.

Mint - I’m envious of your “ok” tomatoes, mine have been dismal this year. Thankfully melons and cukes are producing.

Washer/dryer delivery tomorrow so need to make sure the delivery folks have clear access.

    Take care all.
