Thanks, Carl. Nothing to do about it except accept the changes. Enjoying Doc Martin again tonight. Sleep well, everyone. Good night.

Good morning. Sunny and warm here. We had about an inch of rain yesterday. It always rains when I have a hair appointment.
Eaglemom— I've had a couple of instances of posts disappearing into the ether and resurfacing a day or 2 later making them look completely off-topic. How'd the injection procedure go? Were they able to go through with it?
Lorita— I have an Ultra Fine Sharpie at my desk and carry a gel pen in my bag. One nice thing about gel pens is that they write beautifully on restaurant checks.
I feel you on the eyebrow situation. My have always been lighter and not full. I've never really needed to pluck them even when thinner brows were a style. They're sparser than even now and white. I devote a great deal of money and time to faking brows.
Judith— The more you share about your sister's ordeal the more awful it sounds.
I used to babysit for my SIL & BIL's kids and later my MIL while they traveled. Once SIL was lamenting to her then 8-year-old DD that I wouldn't have anything to entertain me while they we in school. Niece suggested I could do laundry because "laundry is Auntie Buzzed's hobby".
Beth— We have one house on my cul de sac that decorates similarly for Halloween. They have a bunch of semi-feral young sons and started a couple weeks before Labor Day. My favorite is a projection light they have of cat's eyes that blink every 10 seconds or so. Very cool. They also have the massive flying witch.
My bestie goes all out for Halloween as well. She's very into the skeletons— she has a 12-footer and half a dozen 5-footers plus $1500 worth of iron railing around her "cemetery". On Halloween she has a spinner for kids to determine what their treat will be. Last year in addition to full size candy bars she handed out packets of ramen noodles. The stylist says he has a friend who handed out potatoes last year. Evidently that was a hit. Who knew?
Jerilynn— Your view is gorgeous. Are you traveling with a large group because that is a whole lotta meat for 2 people.
Carl— I'm not a Swiftie although I am obsessed with her cats. Let's not be shaming Tay-tay for Kelce's poor behavior. He has quite the history of bad-boy-behavior. Philly got the good Kelce. Besides, aren't terrible exes the cornerstone of country music?

Yesterday was a bust. I had to get up and out early for my hematology appointment. The new doc seems great although he could barely make eye contact. So far, they have no idea why my platelets as MIA, in part because the blood smears I had done a month ago are also MIA. I'll need to have them redone today and hopefully hear back next Thursday. He ordered me a whole bunch of more blood tests to complete in 3 months ahead of a return visit.
The trains were running late yesterday, so I grabbed the first available and got to the city really early. My niece bailed on the appointment because of work, so I was able to come home after and grab dinner with DH instead of our usual catching up.
I think I'll get mom out for her COVID booster and to pick up a birthday gift for her grandson-in-law.
Be safe out there today.

I loved seeing the cat pictures as well as the photos from your travels, JeriLynn.
I have pens that specifically say on the box "Super ink entraps the gel ink in the paper, creating a strong bond that resists document fraud." Here is the link:
Zetta, you must be very excited to move to Boise. The weather will be so much nicer. I am happy for you. Hope you like it there and that SIL doesn't have to transfer again too soon.
Iris, I'm glad you are feeling better. It sounds like the Covid really did a number on you. Glad you are recovering.
Lorita, I hope your appointments go well and you get relief from your headache and eye issues.
Eagle, are you in drought? I know you were thrilled to get a nice rain. I hope your husband has been able to get some relief. It sounds just miserable.
Mint, glad you got to enjoy your former coworkers at lunch. It's good to keep in touch.
Lorita, I am no car expert but I've been told that when the check engine light comes on it's a reminder that it's time (by miles? by time?) for an oil change.
HB, sorry it rained when you had your hair appointment. Hope you took an umbrella. My mom had her hair done every week at the salon and she had one of those plastic rain bonnets to protect her hairdo. How do you spend exorbitant amounts on your brows? Do you micro blade or tattoo? I also have thin brows, from over plucking in my younger years. I use a light brown eye shadow and apply that with a brush and it works well. And not at all expensive.
Your bestie's Halloween set up sounds incredible! I'd love to see it. I'm not one to do it myself but I can appreciate it when others do it. There is a house nearby where there is a bench on their front porch with 2 skeletons sitting on it. I like the idea of the blinking cat eyes too.
Does Jason Kelce still live in the Philly area? I saw a video of him on FB recently playing in a band at a football game (saxophone). If you like football, you might be interested in "Quarterback" on Netflix and "Kelce" on Amazon Prime. Kelce follows the two brothers teams through a season and to the Super Bowl; really good.
GG, you talked about your mailbox situation. We have a bank of communal mailboxes; everyone's is locked. I like that system because it seems safer.
Thinking of all of you, Tigersmom, Chance Rider, Marie, Sandy, Ron, Carl, Mint, Sweetwater, Judith and everyone else who visits.

Good morning Rockers.
Lorita. I hope your feeling better and your headache is gone. Seeing your doctor, is a good thing to do. I don't like going to the doctor, I'm afraid they will find something wrong with me. Yours could be something as simple as new glasses. I'm praying all your fur babies are feeling better today.
Ron. Happy belated birthday 🎂. How are things going with you?
Eaglemom. Please let us know how your DH, is doing. Hopefully the doctor was able to help him with the pain.
Beth. Yes im excited about the move, excited about the cooler weather, and being closer to Bend Oregon, where I'm from, and closer to my son. We have a apartment in Bend, my son lives there. If my SIL, gets transferred far away again, I may just move back to the apartment. My SIL, says this job, is supposed to last for at least 5 plus years. He designs the electrical systems in new buildings.
Iris. I will not be driving much. My SIL, and his big dog Fiona will be in the Bronco. My DD and I will be in my car, with my Molly and the 3 cats. We plan on doing half the drive on Wednesday, staying the first night in Provo Utah. Getting to our house in Bosie, late Thursday afternoon. We will have a lot of coffee and potty stops. We really not in any hurry, cause the movers will probably be a few days behind us. We just want to get there as soon as we can because of the fur baby's.
Good day to all, your in my prayers. Hugs Zetta

Hi, took the car to the dealer to check on the check on the check engine light. Another rat, I guess, has tried to make a nest and has chewed wires again. I just opened the hood last week and nothing was there. I had four of those rodent repellant packets under the hood so they don't work! She said the only thing I can do is keep the hood up. Tech is unavailable for a while so appt. Is Oct. 8 but it is ok to drive.
Saw my doctor. He normally only works til noon on Friday but longer today. He said someone must have put out the word he is going to be gone so everyone came. He isn't going to be gone. Checked my eye - no foreign body but right cataract is dense. He said it is/was a mjgraine, ocular, I.guess. Thank goodness I don't have ocular migraines often. It Is better today.
Went by WM and got a bag of Fresh.Pet to try. They only get one cup a day and they love.it. Cost will be about $17 for three days which is a little.more than Pedigree. They have huge rolls, like sausage, that you slice so will try that, too.
Now, I need to.get Max, Sammy and Stormy to the vet for allergy shots. I am having a terrible time getting the Prednisone down Lilly. If I have to deal with three of them I will go nuts!! (don't have far to go)!
I saw a new Corvette in the showroom today. !ong. Low and black - reminded me of the Batmobill, only prettier. Did not see the price.Bet it's a pretty penny though. Was.hoping they might have a Charger, still thinking about that one I missed by $2,000

Catching up ….
HB - Oh yeah, serious shade with the mayo. Shadier still was that the server set the mayo down on the table, didn't look at us, and kept on walking. Ouch. 😄
Beth - OMG, they go all out for Halloween, don't they. Those are definitely my people! Death Guild has one of those humongous skeletons - they keep it up almost all year long. I also like the front door with all of the bats. I immediately thought of that Birthday Party song - Release the Bats!
Every mailbox in our mailbox bank locks. They seem pretty secure, but I still don't leave mail out there, just in case.
JeriLynn - that's a heck of a lot of meat on that grill, but I love the setting. I hope you're having a great time!
Happy birthday, Ron!
Iris - I'm glad you're starting to feel better.
Lorita - I saw my first Grand Pyrenees! I was at an event and one of the folks there brought their dog - a grand Pyrenees. Pretty dog - and quite large (but friendly).

As an addendum —- I just saw that Rocky Horror Picture Show turned 50! I was one of those who used to go every week (as Magenta). It was a good time.
This has been the week - Bohemian Rhapsody turning 50, Rocky Horror, 50, Wish You Were Here, 50 …. Man, I'm ancient!! I just don't feel like I'm in my 60s … and yet, here I am.

Lorita I hope your ocular migraine feels better real soon!
Those darn rats! There is supposed to be a device that plugs into an outlet that makes ultrasonic sounds to ward away rodents. Do you think that could work without disturbing your fur babies?
Good night.

Good morning,
The view last evening at the concert venue:
Thankfully the rain that came minutes later stopped by the time we were leaving. That sky was absolutely amazing and the picture doesn’t do justice.
The grill: yes it was full wasn’t it? But since we are eating here at the RV, I thought “well, I can do this every morning or I can do it once”, so that’s what I did. The RV has a full sized refrigerator and a microwave so now all there is to do is eggs if DH wants them. I have everything here like my kitchen at home. And DH even brought firewood from home, lol.
The grandkids are texting me. “I don’t want to bother you while you’re on your trip but I really need to talk to you, when are you coming home?”. LOL. Mind you, . These “kids” are grown. It makes me feel good.
One more evening of concert and we head home tomorrow. It’s been a very relaxing trip. Y’all have a good day. Hoping everyone is feeling better1 -
Just watched America's Test Kitchen…tomatoes!

Morning, Iris, our neighbor who passed away many years ago had one of those devices in his house. My vehicles are either out in the open or inside a carport with one side open so don't know if that would work. I asked Darwin how he keeps the rodents away and he uses rat poison if they get bad I don't have outside cats but the GPs are out in the yard some. A poisoned rat could wander as far as the yard so that would scare me thinking one of the GPs might nibble on it. Living in the country with pastures and weeds all around is the problem.Mice will be looking for a warm place soon. We had a 2959 Dodge Wayfarer years ago and the rats ate all the wiring and we bad to replace that. Didn't mention it but I saw two of the cutest Shih Tzus st the vets the other day. Made me miss Barclee and went another one. Better stop and turn off the water.
Already had a fight with Lilly getting her Prednisone down. Only seven more days of medicine to go! I wrap it in cheese for the GPs.

Lorita…I think the rats would not come to live if the car got used or even turned on daily. Reminder to self: turn on ovens and burners every day!

Good morning.
Lorita, Beth's article about keeping mice away mentioned cinnamon and other strong odors. That might work for rats too.
I crush Adam's two medications and add them to his food. Otherwise I would have to fight with him twice a day and he wouldn't allow that at all!
JeriLynn, it's so nice that your adult children still look to you for advice. I hope they're not just asking where things are in the house. I'm glad you're enjoying your get-away.

Iris, what kind of food does Adam eat? The kind with gravy or pate? Lilly is so.picky. I have been dissolving it in a litt!e water. Getting it into a syringe, wrapping her in a towel and trying to get it in her mouth. Now she runs when she sees me with a towel. I'll Read that article. No idea why the Packets I bought didn't work. Bryon's cousin said they smelled funky, whatever that is.
That might work,Judith. I will try that and opening the hood every day to check.. Guess I better check the PU, too.
FedEx just delivered food from Chewy.
Hardly any headache today.. Guess I should have waited one more day.. Do migraines last that long? Maybe ocular migraine is are different. This is the first time I have had one like this, hopefully the last.
Girls have gone into the barn for the day Moms stopped to give their babies a snack before going inside. Getting warm out there. Didn't see Billy. He may have stayed somewhere in the shade.

Good afternoon. I finally have time to catchup and read.
The injection in DH's spine has helped. He can move his right arm and the tingling down the entire arm is gone. He even was able to grasp a spoon this morning. As for his neck, its still frozen (for lack of a better word) in the stuck out position. He can move it a teeny bit to the side, but not up or down. The PT doesn't start for another week.
However, his stinkin bronchitis truly is back. The PCP order chest CT. They also took a ton of blood. She said she's just looking at everything. His lungs are inflamed, and twitchy. We have no idea why. She said this is hard on his body & we need to figure it out. She put him on an extended massive dosage of prednisone. The thinking being that a higher dosage for longer with a longer tapering off might just work. What we've also figured out is if the nebulizer doesn't help, nor the cough medicine, he puts on his CPAP for about 30 to 45 minutes and his lungs do settle down.
Through all of this he has a smile & keeps thanking me for taking such good care of him. Such a sweet sweet man with a tender heart.
Let's be careful everyone. We need everyone healthy and happy.
1 -
Eaglemom, I'm glad your DH is doing a little better. Having a stiff neck and a cough at the same time sounds just miserable, and I hope he gets much better soon. He's a saint to be cheerful through all this, and you're a saint for the good care you take of him.
The diner has added a dish to the weekend menu. They call if bourbon chicken, and it is cubed chicken stir-fried with onions, broccoli, and red, green, and yellow bell peppers, served over rice or potatoes with that sweet Bourbon Street sauce. I had it with rice and iced tea and really enjoyed it. I have had bourbon chicken before in other restaurants, but this was better.
We are having gorgeous weather here in Missouri. We had a couple of days of much-needed rain earlier in the week and now expect high 70s every day and mid-50s every night for the next ten days. Jerilynn, I had forgotten how pretty northern Georgia is. You take some great trips!
1 -
I'm so glad the injections have helped some, Eagle, and, hopefully, the PT will also help. I know how hard it must be for you. And the new regime with the Prednisone can also help. Glad you figured out that the CPAP will help with his cough. It hurts to see your husband or wife struggling and not be able to help too much. You're doing a good job and he appreciates it so much. Life Is hard sometimes but there is so.much we can be grateful.for..
Watching a show on OETA about Hugo, Okla. Really interesting in that many circuses have overwintered there in the past. They have a herd of retired elephants - second largest herd in the US. This may be where the trainer was killed by a tiger he was training, not sure.
It has been a long day but a pretty one. I have watched the girls and babies go into the barn then watched them coming out and go to stand in the pond. One cow came out, then stopped and looked back to the barn and called her baby. Baby didn't come out so after a few minutes she went back to the barn to get.him. They try to.make the babies mind them. Time for world news so will stop for now. .It said some airports in Europe have closed because of mysterious drone sightings.
Zetta, there is flooding in Arizona because of a monsoon. Is that near you?

Good night, sleep tight.

Eagle, it's good that CPAP does help your DH. I can't imagine how much pain he must be in with all that coughing and neck pain.
Lorita, my cat Simon began to run from me when I tried to "pill" him. That's why I started crushing the pills. For Adam, I offer him a variety of pate, chunky food and pureed food for senior cats. Sometimes I add water to make it like a stew. When the weather is cooler I will warm the food for about 8 seconds in the microwave.
I add the crushed pills to about 1 teaspoon of food, when he has eaten that and I am sure the medication is in him, then I give him the rest of the food.
Carl, what a good chicken dinner!

Wow, JeriLynn - that photo looks just like a painting! I love the trees in silhouette.
Lorita - Peggy always used Chewy for her cat food. When she couldn't manage ordering food for Chloe and Jezebel, I took over. That's when I really began to appreciate Chewy. When cats reenter my life, I'll be getting cat food from them.
eaglemom - I'm glad the injections are helping. I hope the doctors are able to figure out what's going on with your DH.
Carl - I don't know what "Bourbon Street Sauce" is. Is it like BBQ sauce?
We're in Geyserville, CA right now. Tiny little town in wine country. One of our favorite wineries, Mercury, had their annual "wine blending party" today, so we had to go. 🙂
They give you four different carafes of barrel sample wines, color-coded so you can ID them, but they don't actually tell you what the wine is. Your job is to make a blend using those barrel samples. The winner gets their wine bottled and sold. It's a really fun event. We pegged two of the four barrel samples - a Cabernet Franc, and a Grenache. The other two we didn't get - a Mourvèdre and a Cabernet Sauvignon.
Even though we didn't win, we liked our blend, and I think it came out well. And for lunch they served paella - a meaty one for the carnivorous folks, and a vegetarian one for the vegetarians. Yum, yum, yum.
Tomorrow we're going to go wine tasting at Hanna, another small winery. For those of you who like white wines, they do a really nice Sauvignon Blanc - which I've seen at the Harris Teeter in Charleston, so you can probably find it in the grocery stores.
Needless to say, we've finished with the ABCs for now. 😄

Bourbon sauce is like a really sweet BBQ sauce. I have only seen it used with chicken, but it would be just as good with tofu. I have no idea how to make it, other than I suspect tomato juice and brown sugar are important ingredients. It contains no whiskey and has none of the fermented corn taste associated with bourbon whiskey. Its name comes from Bourbon Street in New Orleans, where it apparently originated.

Never have eaten bourbon sauce but when I used to be a slight carnivore the barbecue sauce we liked best was Head Country, made in Oklahoma - not too sweet, just right.
Needed to fona little work in the barn this morning and when I tried to put on my rubber boots on I couldn't get my foot in. I felt down in the shoe part and found a dirt dobber's nest. Wore my other shoes and when I got back there was a nest in the other one. Used a hammer to break them up.
I left the car hood up last night and even then there were four or five little pieces of some kind it'of black material where the other nest had been. This morning I found several little pieces of twigs and leaves in another place. I have ordered the Grandpa Gus spray. Hope it works better than the packets.
Two good football games on this afternoon . Chiefs and Ravens at 3, Eagle, and Baker Mayfield's Buccaneers at noon playing the Eagles.
I checked .my journal and I didn't get my senior flu shot until Nov. 12, at the health dept. and Covid at WM on December 2. Will do about the same this year except the health dept. will.not be giving vaccines this yesr. They're changing to some kind of new system.
Thanks, Iris, I have already fed the felines so guess I will wait a while and try what you did for Lilly. I get catfood from.Chewy and cat litter but get Friskies cat food from WM. My FedEx driver says he delivers lots of Chewy boxes in this area. Very convenient.
Enjoy your Sunday. Hope everyone is well.

Good morning all.
Beth— I'd love to get microblading but I'm afraid of ending up with brows that don't suit me. I used to have the tinted, but it doesn't last long enough for the effort required. So, I pencil and follow up with a colored wax that has little fibers in it. Spending a fortune is admittedly hyperbole but I've never walked out of Ulta with just the one item I went in for. I took mom to pick up an eyebrow pencil and she came out with tinted moisturizer, a brow pencil and a Clinique Black Honey lip gloss. The latter was added when I mentioned I had one in my bag at all times.
DH watched the Kelce documentary; I'm not sure about the other one.
Zetta— You must be getting excited for the move. I think it's a great idea for you to hang with the furheads at a hotel until the movers are gone. That will be easier on them for certain.
Lorita— IME, those pill pockets might work for a dog, but cats are smarter than that. I always did what Iris does, mix the crushed medicine into a highly palatable food. For my old himmie, I either pureed duck or fed Gerber strained chicken or turkey which I heated slightly in the microwave. Mom's vet sold her softer kitten food for her old cat's pills but the chicken is what worked for her when I tried it.
I'm sorry about the rats. Yikes. I wonder if Judith is on to something with driving the car daily. My friend's husband never had an issue with his van until COVID closed the courts which meant he wasn't driving into work.
The new Corvette is pretty.
Ron— I'm sorry I missed wishing your a Happy Birthday. I your family made it a nice day for you.
Jerilynn— I wonder if the grands are looking for advice or assistance? It's nice that you're so generous with both.
Carl— That stir-fry sounds lovely. The Bourbon Chicken here is almost like a teriyaki but without the vegetables. Your diner's version sounds better.
Eaglemom— I hope they can get a handle on your DH's cough at home. Sometimes mom's chronic bronchitis/COPD/reactive airway doesn't improve with oral steroids and nebulizer treatments, and she has to be hospitalized for the industrial strength IVs (40mg 3x daily) and nebulizer (she does better with a face mask vs the hookah-thingie) for a couple days before she can come home and resume at-home care.
Gothic— I can remember the midnight showings of Rocky Horror on South Street. I went more than a few times. What I remember most was the "great Scott" scene which would cause the audience to throw TP at the screen. I saw it live in London and the entire audience doing the Time Warp. So fun.
The winery visits sound fun. Blending your own wine sounds really fun— like the best kind of choose your own adventure. I'll have to look for that Sauv Blanc locally. It's a Wine Enthusiast "Best Buy".
______________________________________________________
It's quiet here today. I need to pick up a gift for my nephew-in-law and some milk. We're meeting them later for a birthday dinner which was mom's idea. I love how she volunteered me for driving and splitting the check.
Have a safe and pleasant day.

Good morning.
If Bourbon BBQ Sauce is from NO, it must be good. I was just thinking about Mardi Gras last night. My friends who just returned from the Kentucky trip said a big part of the trip were stops for bourbon tastings.
GG, you remind me of Fraser when you mentioned the wine blend tasting contest. Do you remember that episode when he and Niles competed?
I still have a sporadic cough after Covid. Dr. Google says airway hyperreactivity is common after Covid. I seem to have a coughing spasm whenever I go into the library, which is very disturbing because I don't want to cough around other people. I wonder if all the books promote a lot of dust, even though they have a good air conditioning system. I may start wearing a mask at the library and see if that cuts down on my coughing in public.
The weather has changed because it has been overcast all week. Usually September in SoCal is very hot, like in July. In fact, the LA County Fair was moved from September to May because September was too hot. I am ready to put away my summer clothes for heavier wear, but many locals wear light clothing (shorts, light tees and flip flops) year-round.

Lorita, we call them "mud daubers" here. My first house had a concrete mud dauber's nest in the basement. The mud dauber mama used wet cement to make a nest while the house was being built, back in the 1930s. The nest was open on the end, so the babies were able to escape when they were grown.
My grandfather's cousin found a mud dauber nest in the barrel of his rifle once. Good thing he checked the barrel before firing the rifle! 💣️💥
Thanks for the link to Bourbon St. sauce, Judith.
